Greetings, I noticed you were creating a lot of Featured picture categories and adding a lot of featured images to them. Since most of these already fall under the FM-Class articles categories for the applicable projects (but admittedly not all) I was wondering if there was a need to have both categories. I could see it as a checks and balances like the way we have stub templates and Stub-class articles categories but I'm not sure what the purpose of these categories are so I thought I would just ask. ] (]) 18:53, 19 April 2012 (UTC) | Greetings, I noticed you were creating a lot of Featured picture categories and adding a lot of featured images to them. : To access FM-class articles, wouldn't one have to first know which WikiProject to visit in order to find files associated with that project? That does not seem very user-friendly to me. Also, images would only exist in the FM-class category if they are marked by the WikiProject appropriately. The categories I am creating are all easily found within ] (or more generally, ]). I created the U.S. category after discovering that categories existed for Japan and Australia, among other categories. If a discussion should take place regarding the creation of these categories, I'd be happy to participate. Personally, I think the Featured pictures category should be subdivided--it can be overwhelming searching through a category with 3,000 images. --<font color="navy">]</font> (<font color="cc6600">]</font>) 21:44, 19 April 2012 (UTC) | : To access FM-class articles, wouldn't one have to first know which WikiProject to visit in order to find files associated with that project? ::First I should clarify that I am totally fine with having both categories as they could act as a checks and balances system in support of one another. One on the main page and one on the talk page much like we do with the stub templates. You are right they would have to be tagged but technically they would need to be tagged with the category for them to show up in the other as well. As for the FM categories, in theory you could add these FM categories to the Featured pictures category as well rather than create a separate category for them. Its really not a big deal to me though I was more just wondering what was driving it and wasn't sure if you knew about the FM category at all. Happy editing] (]) 02:32, 20 April 2012 (UTC) |

Question regarding a Grammy article
Hello Another Believer. Seeing you have promoted many Grammy awards to Featured List status, I have a question on one I'm working on, Grammy Award for Best Spoken Word Album for Children. One guy (Buck Howdy in 2009) won the award as the artist. However, on the Grammys page (childrens), under the winner header, Buck is listed twice (once as artist and once as producer). In the 2009 footnote, should I include him as winning the award as the producer? Also, when the artist is also a producer (in the nominees section), should I also record them as a producer for their work? Thanks, Albacore (talk) 23:09, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
- Responded on talk page. --Another Believer (Talk) 23:34, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
- So basically drop all the notes except the ones for "various artists", as well as the producers in the "nominees" column, and move those notes to the "performing artist(s) column"? Albacore (talk) 23:50, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

WikiCup 2011 September newsletter
We are on this year's home straight, with less than a month to go until the winner of the 2011 WikiCup will be decided. The fight for first place is currently being contested by Miyagawa (submissions), Hurricanehink (submissions) and Sp33dyphil (submissions), all of whom have over 200 points. This round has already seen multiple featured articles (1991 Atlantic hurricane season from Hurricanehink and Northrop YF-23 from Sp33dyphil) and a double-scoring featured list (Miyagawa's 1948 Summer Olympics medal table). The scores will likely increase far further before the end of the round on October 31 as everyone ups their pace. There is not much more to say- thoughts about next year's competition are welcome on the WikiCup talk page or the scoring talk page, and signups will open once a few things have been sorted out.
If you are concerned that your nomination, be it at good article candidates, a featured process or anywhere else, will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Misplaced Pages:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Misplaced Pages talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages, or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start receiving or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Misplaced Pages:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Main page appearance
Hello! This is a note to let the main editors of this list know that it will be appearing as the main page featured list on October 24, 2011. You can view the TFL blurb at Misplaced Pages:Today's featured list/October 24, 2011. If you think it is necessary to change the main date, you can request it with the featured list directors The Rambling Man (talk · contribs), Dabomb87 (talk · contribs) or Giants2008 (talk · contribs), or at Misplaced Pages talk:Today's featured list. If the previous blurb needs tweaking, you might change it—following the instructions of the suggested formatting. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page so Misplaced Pages doesn't look bad. :D Thanks! Tbhotch. Grammatically incorrect? Correct it! See terms and conditions. 22:23, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
The U.S. state of Oregon has 26 official emblems, as designated by the Oregon State Legislature. Oregon's first state symbol was the motto Alis Volat Propriis, written and translated in 1854. Latin for "She Flies With Her Own Wings", the motto remained unchanged until 1957, when "The Union" became the official state motto. Alis Volat Propriis became the state motto once again in 1987. Originally designed in 1857, usage of the Oregon State Seal began after Oregon became the 33rd state of the United States on February 14, 1859. The motto and seal served as Oregon's only symbols until over 50 years later, when the Oregon-grape became the state flower in 1899. Oregon had 6 official symbols by 1950 and 22 symbols by 2000. The newest symbol of Oregon is Jory soil, declared the state soil in 2011.

GA for 10 Songs for the New Depression
Hello, Another Believer. I have just finished reviewing 10 Songs for the New Depression and am happy to say it has passed. Congratulations! There are a couple of little points that didn't affect the outcome, but that I thought you might want to look at. One is that almost all of the magazine and newspaper references have ISSN numbers, but a couple of them don't. For consistency you might want to include the numbers for all of them or none of them. It's up to you, though. The other little thing I noticed: well, there may be different opinions about this out there, but some people prefer to have the lead be only a summary of the article and not include any "new" information, and not have any reference numbers (i.e., the reference number instead appears with the info the lead is summarizing, in the main body of the text). I noticed your information in the lead that the album "released forty years following his first studio album" and that it was released in July 2010 only appears in the lead (and in the info box), not in the main body of the text. Also, from perusing the various sources, I gathered that while British folks can get it through Proper Records, in the States it's available through his website. Would that be something to highlight? Perhaps you could add a small "Release" section, or change "Reception" to "Release and reception", or something. You could fit the release date, the fact that it was released forty years after his first album, and the fact that in the States it was mostly available through his website (or through import?), nice and succinctly in a few sentences there. Anyhow, again, it's up to you—just an idea! Cheers, Moisejp (talk) 21:26, 22 October 2011 (UTC)

In this case, the winning collaboration was released on The Chieftains album and titled "Have I Told You Lately That I Love You?" instead of as Van Morrison originally titled it: "Have I Told You Lately". Thanks, Agadant (talk) 13:00, 27 November 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for the correction. I updated the Grammy list accordingly. --Another Believer (Talk) 20:04, 27 November 2011 (UTC)
Grammy Award category names
Hi Another Believer! I see you just created Category:Grammy Legend Award. Looks like there is a lack of consistency in the naming conventions of the categories that would be placed on articles about people:
- Category:Grammy Award winners
- Category:Grammy Hall of Fame Award recipients
- Category:Grammy Legend Award
Should there be consistency here? Thanks! --GoingBatty
- Possibly. I wondered this myself. I went for consistency with other Grammy Award categories for specific awards (Grammy Award for XXX Album, etc). Ideally, there would be very few entries for the category "Grammy Award winners" once categories are created for specific awards. Also, I noticed the different wording between "Grammy Award winners" and "Grammy Hall of Fame Award recipients" and was not sure which might be better (if either). Feel free to take this to "Categories for discussion" or another avenue for renaming if you are concerned about the title or wish for more feedback. I would not be offended if the category was renamed, I just went with what I felt was appropriate at the time. --Another Believer (Talk) 18:08, 28 November 2011 (UTC)

As you have five or more DYK credits, you'll need to review another article at DYK before your nomination can be approved, per the QPQ rule: "Review requirement – Reviewing another editor's nomination is part of the nomination process for self-nominations. This makes it more likely that all nominations are reviewed in a timely manner. You may add your nomination before you undertake a review, but before it is approved, please review another editor's nomination and indicate at your nomination which you have reviewed, and (if you know how to do this) provide a link to the diff for your review. New nominators (those with fewer than five DYK credits) are exempt from this review requirement, as is the nomination of another editor's article. For help in learning the reviewing process, see the reviewers' guide." Once you've done this, just reply at the nomination page, stating what you have reviewed. Thank you in advance for your cooperation in this matter. Harrias 01:04, 10 December 2011 (UTC)
Full Circle
Hi Another Believer, thanks again for working on Indian music articles. I downloaded Full Circle and I'm a little disappointed - but Ravi Shankar was never my favorite sitar player. Anoushka's Carnegie Hall CD was much more enjoyable (even her sitar has a nicer sound I think), which just shouldn't be the case ;) Do you have the liner notes to the album?, perhaps they have something worthwhile to add to the article. I checked my physical copy of Anoushka's CD and there's nothing for the Full Circle article. Best Hekerui (talk) 22:33, 10 December 2011 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, I do not have liner notes to the album and I don't believe my local library carries a copy. Thanks for your work on the article! --Another Believer (Talk) 00:54, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

The fact was ... that the 2000 concert recorded for Ravi Shankar's live album Full Circle: Carnegie Hall 2000 occurred 62 years after his first performance at Carnegie Hall? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Full Circle: Carnegie Hall 2000.You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. GAN for Yale Union Laundry Building
Hi. I started reviewing your good article nomination of Yale Union Laundry Building, and have left some preliminary comments on the review page, here. I will attempt to finish the review tomorrow. –Grondemar 02:43, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
- AB, I didn't realize I'd been included as a co-nominator on this one. I'm in my first long-lasting wikifunk this fall, and for various reasons I'd rather not nominate anything for anything for a while or deal with the inevitable complications of a nomination. I removed my name from the nomination template, and I sent a note of explanation to Grondemar just now. You should be fine without me since all of my sources are online and linked to. Finetooth (talk) 04:25, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
- So, so sorry! My inclusion of your username was meant to honor your contributions to the article, not to request or expect contributions during the GAN process. I had seen other GA nominators do the same (co-nominate articles) so I thought that was the general "thing to do". I should have asked about adding your name first, but I had every intention to see the article through GAN. --Another Believer (Talk) 04:37, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
- No worries. No apology necessary. I just wasn't prepared to deal with the GAN process, but I'm happy that you're doing it. I hope you succeed. Finetooth (talk) 19:30, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

FYI on TFA
HI, Just a fast FYI that wikiproject Equine had some real issues with the creation of subcats in category horse breeds, because we need the big master cat list to better maintain List of horse breeds. There is also a problem that several breeds can be claimed by multiple countries (The Lipizzan could be claimed by as many as five nations, and there is an ongoing spat between the Austrians and Slovenians over claims of origin, for example) So we sort of agreed to keep the parent cat on all horse breed articles as well as the nation cats to facilitate organization of over 350 breed articles. Short version of a longer story, but an FYI on why I reverted that edit. Montanabw 15:30, 15 December 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you for your response. I appreciate the feedback (and that makes sense). My edit, however, did not delete the parent category or subcategory... I merely changed the category order so that it was alphabetical. --Another Believer (Talk) 15:47, 15 December 2011 (UTC)

List of The Apprentice (U.S.) candidates
Hi there. I was thinking of nominating this list as Today's Featured List on 13 February, to coincide with the Season 12 premiere on 12 February. Due to the difference between UTC and the U.S. time zones, the list should go up on the main page an hour or so before the first show actually airs, which would really maximise its exposure. I've done a bit of cleanup to deal with things that tend to come under scrutiny at FLC nowadays, but I'm not that familiar with American media, so I was wondering if you would be able to find reliable sources for seasons 11 and 12? Happy New Year by the way. —WFC— 17:26, 31 December 2011 (UTC)
- Not done -- I'd be happy to help. Sorry for the delayed response, I have been out of town, on vacations and away from keyboards for the most part during the holiday season. Will try to get around to this when things have settled down a bit... --Another Believer (Talk) 18:16, 4 January 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks, and I hope you've had an enjoyable holiday season. There's no rush: I eventually found sources that work in the short term. But I reckon the url I used for season 11 might need replacing when the restructure the website for season 12, and the source for season 12 might need replacing if the rumours that it's Michael not Marco Andretti prove correct. —WFC— 00:39, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
Welcome to the 2012 WikiCup
Hello, and welcome to the 2012 WikiCup! The competition officially begins at the start of 2012 (UTC) after which time you may begin to claim points. Your submission page, where you must note any content for which you wish to claim points, can be found here, and formatting instructions can be found in hidden comments on the page. A bot will then update the main table, which can be seen on the WikiCup page. The full rules for what will and will not be awarded points can be found at Misplaced Pages:WikiCup/Scoring. There's also a section on that page listing the changes that have been made to the rules this year, so that experienced participants can get up-to-date in a few seconds. One point of which we must remind everyone; you may only claim points for content upon which you have done significant work, and which you have nominated, in 2012. For instance, articles written or good article reviews started in 2011 are not eligible for points.
This round will last until late February, and signups will remain open until the middle of February. If you know of anyone who may like to take part, please let them know about the comeptition; the more the merrier! At the end of this round, the top 64 scorers will progress to the next round, where their scores will reset, and they will be split into pools. Note that, by default, you have been added to our newsletter list; we will be in contact at the end of every month with news. You're welcome to remove yourself from this list if you do not wish to hear from us. Conversely, those interested in following the competition are more than welcome to add themselves to the list. Please direct any questions towards the judges, or on the WikiCup talk page. Good luck! J Milburn (talk) and The ed17 (talk) 17:50, 31 December 2011 (UTC)

Templates with class and importance
Thank you for starting articles on 2012 primary elections in various states. I would appreciate it if you would consider using talk page templates with class and importance parameters when you create new articles. I am working on reducing the number of unassessed articles for various state projects, and new articles without parameters go in the opposite direction. --DThomsen8 (talk) 14:22, 13 January 2012 (UTC)
- No problem! I often leave importance parameters alone, leaving those for project members to complete, but I can see that at least designating the stubs as such would be helpful. Will keep this in mind for the future. --Another Believer (Talk) 16:04, 13 January 2012 (UTC)
Geographical context please
Hallo, While stub-sorting I have found that you have created a large number of stubs for buildings in Idaho. Please remember to state the country in which these buildings are located - Misplaced Pages is an international encyclopedia, not restricted to the United States, and "Idaho" is insufficient to give geographical context in the lead sentence. While you are creating large numbers of stubs you could also add {{Idaho-struct-stub}} and {{Idaho-NRHP-stub}} to save stub-sorters having to do so to each article. Thanks. PamD 08:59, 14 January 2012 (UTC)
- Also please remember to give a reference for each article. PamD 09:02, 14 January 2012 (UTC)
- And while I'm here... it's helpful if you use lower case "s" for {{stub}} tags, because that saves the stub-sorter from having to retype it! Just a couple of keystrokes, but it all helps. Thanks. PamD 09:10, 14 January 2012 (UTC)

Fire Station No. 5 (Mobile, Alabama)
Hey, just wanted to let you know that your new article for Fire Station No. 5 (Mobile, Alabama) is a re-creation of Washington Firehouse No. 5. I did it several years ago and used its local name rather than the NRHP name as the article name. I've now redirected the new one to the old (I should have made a redirect in the first place to keep it from being accidentally recreated). Kudos for creating the new NRHP fire house articles. The ones you did for Birmingham may have photos on Commons, I know that I saw one just recently. Altairisfar (talk) 16:24, 21 January 2012 (UTC)

Main page appearance: List of The Apprentice (U.S.) candidates
Hello! This is a note to let the main editors of this list know that it will be appearing as the main page featured list on February 13, 2012. You can view the TFL blurb at Misplaced Pages:Today's featured list/February 13, 2012. 05:07, 30 January 2012 (UTC)
Candidates on the American version of The Apprentice compete to become Donald Trump's apprentice, as determined by Trump and his boardroom associates. The series first broadcast in 2004, and eleven complete seasons have aired on NBC as of February 2012; Season 12 is scheduled to run from February 12 until May 20, 2012. Each season, competitors are progressively eliminated based on their performance during an assigned task. After each task, the winning team receives a reward, while the losing team faces a boardroom showdown in order to determine which team member should be fired, and therefore eliminated from the show. Trump hires one of the finalists to be his apprentice. Starting with Season 7, celebrities participated as a way to revitalize the series, with the winners donating their proceeds to charity. Seasons in which celebrities compete are branded as The Celebrity Apprentice. Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth is the only person to have competed in multiple seasons; she appeared in both Season 1 and Season 7. The youngest competitors include Jessie Connors and Chris Shelton, who appeared on the show at age 21. At age 75, Joan Rivers (pictured) of Season 8 was the oldest candidate to both appear on the show and win the competition.

WikiCup 2012 January newsletter
WikiCup 2012 is off to a flying start. At the time of writing, we have 112 contestants; comparable to last year, but slightly fewer than 2010. Signups will remain open for another week, after which time they will be closed for this year. Our currrent far-away leader is Grapple X (submissions), due mostly to his work on a slew of good articles about The X-Files; there remain many such articles waiting to be reviewed at good article candidates. Second place is currently held by Ruby2010 (submissions), whose points come mostly from good articles about television episodes, although good article reviews, did you knows and an article about a baroness round out the score. In third place is Jivesh boodhun (submissions), who has scored 200 points for his work on a single featured article, as well as points for work on others, mostly in the area of pop music. In all, nine users have 100 or more points. However, at the other end of the scale, there are still dozens of participants who are yet to score. Please remember to update your submission pages promptly!
The 64 highest scoring participants will advance to round 2 in a month's time. There, they will be split into eight random groups of eight. The score needed to reach the next round is not at all clear; last year, 8 points guaranteed a place. The year before, 20.
A few participants and their work warrant a mention for achieving "firsts" in this competition.
- 12george1 (submissions) was the first to score, with his good article review of Illinois v. McArthur.
- 12george1 (submissions) was also the first to score points for an article, thanks to his work on Hurricane Debby (1982)- now a good article. Tropical storms have featured heavily in the Cup, and good articles currently have a relatively fast turnaround time for reviews.
- Sp33dyphil (submissions) was the first to score points for a did you know, with Russian submarine K-114 Tula. Military history is another subject which has seen a lot of Cup activity.
- Sp33dyphil (submissions) is also the first person to successfully claim bonus points. Terminator 2: Judgment Day is now a good article, and was eligible for bonus points because the subject was covered on more than 20 other Wikipedias at the start of the competition. It is fantastic to see bonus points being claimed so early!
- Speciate (submissions) was the first to score points for an In the News entry, with Paedophryne amauensis. The lead image from the article was also used on the main page for a time, and it's certainly eye-catching!
- Jivesh boodhun (submissions) was the first to score points for a featured article, and is, at the moment, the only competitor to claim for one. The article, "Halo" (Beyoncé Knowles song), was also worth double points because of its wide coverage. While this is an article that Jivesh and others have worked on for some time, it is undeniable that he has put considerable work into it this year, pushing it over the edge.
We are yet to see any featured lists, featured topics or good topics, but this is unsurprising; firstly, the nomination processes with each of these can take some time, and, secondly, it can take a considerable amount of time to work content to this level. In a similar vein, we have seen only one featured article. The requirement that content must have been worked on this year to be eligible means that we did not expect to see these at the start of the competition. No points have been claimed for featured portals or pictures, but these are not content types which are often claimed; the former has never made a big impact on the WikiCup, while the latter has not done so since 2009's competition.
A quick rules clarification before the regular notices: If you are concerned that another user is claiming points inappropriately, please contact a judge to take a look at the article. Competitors policing one another can create a bad atmosphere, and may lead to inconsistencies and mistakes. Rest assured that we, the judges, are making an effort to check submissions, but it is possible that we will miss something. On a loosely related note: If you are concerned that your nomination, be it at good article candidates, a featured process or anywhere else, will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Misplaced Pages:WikiCup/Reviews. Good luck! DYK nomination of Sybil Plumlee
Hi: I've now reviewed Template:Did you know nominations/Sybil Plumlee and although I noted a couple of issues, I think it passes; however, you do not indicate there that you did a quid pro quo review, and I see that you have more than 4 previous DYK credits and presume from the recent ones that that includes more than 4 as nominator. If you did the review, please add a note to the template and I'll give the article its checkmark. Otherwise, please review another nomination and note it when you have. I agree, this would be a good article for International Women's Day. Yngvadottir (talk) 19:12, 15 February 2012 (UTC)
List of awards and nominations received by Adele and WP:FLC
Hello Another Believer, hope you're well. I was floating around WP:FFL and noticed this Adele list which was delisted in 2009 under 3b. I think, given she's now up to over 100 nominations, that can no longer apply! I wondered if you felt able or inclined to take it back up to WP:FLC? I'd be more than happy to help, or if you wanted to go solo, fine too. It's still in good shape as far as I can tell so it won't take too much to polish it up! The Rambling Man (talk) 12:06, 16 February 2012 (UTC)
- Let's do it! I was waiting for 21-related activity to slow before I attempting to restore FL status, but now is a great time to improve the list. Any assistance would be much appreciated (I need to get back into the FL loop!)... --Another Believer (Talk) 16:31, 16 February 2012 (UTC)
AfD and PROD notifications
Hey there, WP:ORE compatriot. ;) Back in November, you got either an AfD or PROD notification, and it was during one of the template testing project's experiments. If you could go here and leave us some feedback about what you think about the new versions of the templates we tested (there are links to the templates), that would be very useful. (You can also email me at swallingwikimedia.org if you want.) Thanks! Steven Walling (WMF) • talk 19:15, 17 February 2012 (UTC) P.S. Hope you're well!
Proposed deletion of Cee-Lo Green... Is Everybody's Brother
The article Cee-Lo Green... Is Everybody's Brother has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- WP:CRYSTAL
While all contributions to Misplaced Pages are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hghyux (talk) 21:09, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
- I suppose re-direct then for now. No sense in wasting time with deletion process given album confirmation by notable artist. --Another Believer (Talk) 21:22, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

Canterbury Castle photos
Saw your note re. Canterbury Castle in Portland at the WikiProject NRHP talk page. Have you by chance been in touch with User:Visitor7 about getting photos? He displayed great mobility and zeal in covering Oregon for the recent photo contest; and when I asked if he'd get a photo for me at the Seattle Museum of Flight, he came through like a champion. If the Flickr person doesn't come through, or if you'd like better pictures than are available there, you might do worse than to contact him. Ammodramus (talk) 20:03, 23 February 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for the suggestion. I'd be happy to see if Visitor7 has any old photos to offer, as the building is no longer around to photograph now. --Another Believer (Talk) 21:28, 23 February 2012 (UTC)

WikiCup 2012 February newsletter
Round 1 is already over! The 64 highest scorers have progressed to round 2. Our highest scorer was Grapple X (submissions), again thanks mostly to a swathe of good articles on The X-Files. In second place was Tigerboy1966 (submissions), thanks an impressive list of did you knows about racehorses. Both scored over 400 points. Following behind with over 300 points were Ruby2010 (submissions), Cwmhiraeth (submissions), Miyagawa (submissions) and Casliber (submissions). February also saw the competition's first featured list: List of colleges and universities in North Dakota, from Ruby2010 (submissions). At the other end of the scale, 11 points was enough to secure a place in this round, and some contestants with 10 points made it into the round on a tiebreaker. This is higher than the 8 points that were needed last year, but lower than the 20 points required the year before. The number of points required to progress to round 3 will be significantly higher.
The remaining contestants have been split into 8 pools of 8, named A through H. Round two will finish in two months time on 28 April, when the two highest scorers in each pool, as well as the next 16 highest scorers, will progress to round 3. The pools were entirely random, so while some pools may end up being more competitive than others, this is by chance rather than design.
The judges would like to point out two quick rules reminders. First, any content promoted during the interim period (that is, on or after 27 February) is eligible for points in round 2. Second, any content worked on significantly this year is eligible for points if promoted in this round. On a related note, if you are concerned that your nomination, be it at good article candidates, a featured process or anywhere else, will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Misplaced Pages:WikiCup/Reviews. Walking Dead character pages
I was thinking about creating some pages for the characters of the show. There definitely is a lot of into about their individual development per episode and critical response to the overall character. If I could have your help with creating and expanding the article to fit the GA criteria, it would be very appreciated. —DAP388 (talk) 01:53, 1 March 2012 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) - (please excuse me for jumping in!) I've been thinking of creating an article at Andrea (The Walking Dead) for a while, so I'd love to help out if that's okay :) I think the easiest one of the bunch to work up to GA level would be Daryl Dixon (The Walking Dead), just because with the characters that are in the comics, the TV-based sources outnumber the comic sources by a heck of a lot, so creating a balance between coverage of the different mediums might prove a challenge. Just some initial thoughts. Did you have one in mind to work on first? Frickative 02:04, 1 March 2012 (UTC)
- Frickative, help yourself out. The more the merrier! :) And thank you for the praise Another Believer. :D I always enjoy working on articles on one of my favorites shows ever. I was thinking about creating an article about Shane Walsh, Lori Grimes, or expanding the Rick Grimes article. —DAP388 (talk) 02:21 (UTC), 1 March 2012 (UTC)

WikiCup 2012 March newsletter
We are over half way through the second round of this year's WikiCup and things are going well! Grapple X (submissions), of Pool B, is our highest overall scorer thanks to his prolific writings on television and film. In second place is Pool H's Cwmhiraeth (submissions), thanks primarily to work on biological articles, especially in marine biology and herpetology. Third place goes to Pool E's Casliber (submissions), who also writes primarily on biology (including ornithology and botany) and has already submitted two featured articles this round. Of the 63 contestants remaining, 15 (just under a quarter) have over 100 points this round. However, 25 are yet to score. Please remember to update your submission pages promptly. 32 contestants, the top two from each pool and the 16 next-highest scorers, will advance to round 3.
Congratulations to Matthewedwards (submissions), whose impressive File:Wacht am Rhein map (Opaque).svg became the competition's first featured picture. Also, congratulations to 12george1 (submissions), who claimed good topic points, our first contestant this year to do so, for his work on Misplaced Pages:Featured topics/1982 Atlantic hurricane season. This leaves featured topics and featured portals as the only sources of points not yet utilised. However, as recent statistics from Miyagawa (submissions) show, no source has yet been utilised this competition to the same extent it has been previously!
It has been observed that the backlogs at good article candidates are building up again. While the points for good article reviews will be remaining constant, any help that can be offered keeping the backlog down would be appreciated. On a related note, if you are concerned that your nomination, be it at good article candidates, a featured process or anywhere else, will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Misplaced Pages:WikiCup/Reviews. Featured picture categories
Kumioko (talk) 18:53, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
- To access FM-class articles, wouldn't one have to first know which WikiProject to visit in order to find files associated with that project? That does not seem very user-friendly to me. Also, images would only exist in the FM-class category if they are marked by the WikiProject appropriately. The categories I am creating are all easily found within Category:Featured pictures of the United States (or more generally, Category:Featured pictures). --Another Believer (Talk) 21:44, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
- First I should clarify that I am totally fine with having both categories as they could act as a checks and balances system in support of one another. Happy editingKumioko (talk) 02:32, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
