Link defeated Ganondorf and left Hyrule to search for his lost fairy, ]. His horse was stolen by a Skullkid controlled by an evil mask. Link is the fictional protagonist character from the Legend of Zelda game series. Consistant attributes of Link include wearing a green cap and tunic, carrying a sword and shield, and being left-handed.
There are several Links in the whole series. In most time-lines, the first Link is the one in the The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, who also appeared in the Super Smash Brothers series. Below are synopses of the different Links' adventures.
Link in Ocarina of Time
At a very early age, when war struck Hyrule, Link's mother took Link to the safety of Kokiri Forest under the protection of the Great Deku Tree. She passed away and Link was brought up as a Kokiri, but he didn't have his own fairy, until Navi was sent to him by the Deku Tree. Link had to save the Tree from a curse put on it by a giant arachnid, Queen Gohma. After saving the Deku Tree he went to see Princess Zelda at Hyrule Castle. She put him on a mission to get the three Spiritual Stones and save Hyrule. After he got the stones, he went to the Temple of Time, opened the Door of Time with the Stones and the Song of Time, and drew the Master Sword from its stone pedestal. It locked him in time for seven years while Ganondorf, the Prince of Evil, took control of Hyrule. Link had to release the six sages from their temples, so they could lock Ganondorf away into the Golden Realm. After he had saved the sages, Zelda was captured and he had to fight Ganondorf for the last time...
Link in Majora's Mask

Link in The Legend of Zelda
In this game, Link's character is not described in detail. He is mostly a generic hero character attempting to rescue Princess Zelda (and her kingdom, Hyrule) from the evil wizard Ganon. He begins the game as a green-clad elfin boy with a shield but no weapon, and gradually gathers equipment and shards of the Triforce of Courage until he is powerful enough to defeat Ganon and free the Princess. Later-released Zelda games suggest that this game's Link and Zelda are reincarnations of the originals who are called forth because Ganon had become free again. The reincarnation theory is given backing in the "Wind Waker" title, in which Hyrule is a long-gone land of myth, flooded by Ganon while Link was searching for Navi during The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, and s boy is the reincarnated spirit of Link to save Hyrule from Ganon.

The Triforce sends Link on a mission to another world, Labrynna. He must stop Labrynna from being taken over by the time-travelling Sorceress of Shadows, Veran.

Link in The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Link is called upon to save Hyrule 100 years after the original locked Ganon into the Golden Realm. The evil wizard Aganihm frees Ganon from the realm, which has now become evil from Ganon's terrible influence. Link must collect the three medallions and save the seven maidens descended from the six sages and Princess Zelda, while travelling through both the Light and the Dark Worlds of Hyrule.
Link in The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening
Exploring the world, Link's ship is washed up on a mysterious island called Koholint. He can only escape by waking the Wind Fish, who has dreamed the island into existence... or mabye Link dreamed that the fish had dreamed him?
Link in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
Link is reincarnated about 1000 years after the The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask games, when Gannon has flooded Hyrule, and a new kingdom has been formed on the Great Seas, with only mountain-tops of Hyrule becoming land. Link must collect the Pearls of the Goddesses, Din, Nayru and Farore, and the Triforce of Courage, to save Hyrule.
