In July 2010, UGC issued a notice to IIPM, after the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education questioned IIPM on the authenticity of its Hyderabad courses. UGC Chairman Ved Prakash commented that IIPM was advertising its programmes using the names of UGC, HRD Ministry and AICTE and that "it is indulging in cheating.” IIPM Group President for Corporate Affairs Amit Saxena said the institute wasn’t a university, was not empowered to award degrees on its own, and was doing neither.. IIPM is the "on-site academic partner of ] which grants its degrees to IIPM students." Saxena also said that IIPM had made representations to UGC and Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education to "clarify the stand," and that the subject was "sub judice at the Delhi high court." In the first year, core subjects such as marketing, accounting, finance, economics and organizational behavior are covered. In June 2009, ''Mail Today'', an India Today group publication reported that the institute got jobs for 2,300 out of 4,000 students with 750 companies participating, and 46 international placements, with the results of 100 campus interviews still being awaited. In June 2010, it was reported that more than 10,000 IIPM students have been placed in the last five years in more than 1,500 companies; with more than 250 students getting international placements in the last three years, a new benchmark. IIPM Delhi got the highest number of global placements in India for 2008 (165 students placed globally) and 2009 (55 students). Overall, the highest annual package received by an IIPM student was Rs.20 lakhs with the average being Rs.4.63 lakhs. In 2009, as per Mahesh Sarma in a ''Careers 360'' article, ], University of Cambridge, ], ] and ] hosted IIPM's non-credit Executive Education program participants and conducted sessions for them.<ref name="Careers360 story about IIPM"/> Mahesh Sarma wrote that a representative from McCombs School of Business wrote that they were not aware of a relationship between IIPM and them and that IIPM may have “a relationship with another college at University of Texas-Austin.” A representative from Judge Business School confirmed to Mahesh Sarma that they were delivering a “five day non-degree executive education programme” to IIPM students in Cambridge University. The representative mentioned that “there are no university qualifications awarded from Cambridge University or Judge Business School. The only certificate is a certificate of attendance which is what we provide to participants on all our programmes.” As per Sarma, Darden Business School, University of Virginia wrote to them confirming that “along with Cambridge (Judge) and UC Berkeley (Haas),” University of Virginia's Darden School of Business was providing a series of week-long Executive Education non-credit programs for IIPM. Darden also mentioned that with IIPM it had no tie up or partnership agreement. Haas Business School confirmed the existence of a contract with IIPM; they also confirmed that IIPM “may represent itself as a business school 'participating' with the Haas School of Business,” and that Haas faculty will teach courses in the IIPM program.<ref name="Careers360 story about IIPM"/>
