Here are some useful tips to ease you into the Misplaced Pages experience:
- First, take a look at the Misplaced Pages Tutorial, and perhaps dabble a bit in the test area.
- When you have some free time, take a look at the Manual of Style and Policies and Guidelines. They can come in very handy!
- Remember to use a neutral point of view!
- If you need any help, feel free to post a question at the Help Desk
- Explore, be bold in editing pages, and, most importantly, have fun!
Also, here are some odds and ends that I find useful from time to time:

- Misplaced Pages:Cite your sources
- Misplaced Pages:Verifiability
- Misplaced Pages:Wikiquette
- Misplaced Pages:Civility
- Misplaced Pages:Conflict resolution
- Misplaced Pages:Brilliant prose
- Misplaced Pages:Pages needing attention

You can sign your name on any page by typing 4 tildes, likes this: ~~~~.
Best of luck, and have fun!

Hey. I posted a question for you at Talk:Unit Load Device. kmccoy (talk) 05:47, 25 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Poker links
Hi, I don't know how much editing you've done on the poker page, but I just wanted to give you a heads-up that the link you posted probably will get reverted (most likely by User:2005). It seems there's been a lot of discussion of how to handle outside links, and the consensus was to just keep them to an absolute minimum and let someone click through to a links directory if they want more. Just FYI -- sorry if i'm sticking my nose where it doesn't belong. Thanks, PhilipR 17:18, 2 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Your edit to Talk:Lewis Nixon
In Talk:Lewis Nixon, you listed the J/G/S designations. What is the generic name for those classifications? Whenever I hear references to S-3 or whatever, I have always wanted to see a description like you just stated. Perhaps this info is already in a wikipedia article, but I don't know where to look. If not, could you start one and elaborate a little on the subject? Thanks --rogerd 03:49, 2 January 2006 (UTC)
- Staff (military) now has a detailed section on the subject. Jigen III (talk) 09:47, 10 April 2011 (UTC)

USAR Female Mess Dress
Hello, I would like to ask you for further imformation about this picture. What's the rank of the soldier? It this a regular formal dress or a special formal dress (among other formal dresses). What that "curling" at the arms called? To what occasions is this dress worn? Do you have a source? Thanks so far, -- Scriberius 10:07, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
- It is worn for black tie events.
- The sleeve markings is the braid and trefoil. The braid is the gold-color-gold stripe on lower part (color depends on what you do, i.e. blue for infantry). Above the braid is the trefoil (the "curling" as you put it). Between the braid and trefoil is the rank insignia (the image is too blurry to make out the insignia so I can't tell you what rank she is).
- Look here to see the jacket up close:
- You can also google "army mess dress". Jigen III 10:45, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks! Scriberius 09:02, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

An exciting opportunity to get involved!
As a member of the Aviation WikiProject or one of its subprojects, you may be interested in testing your skills in the Aviation Contest! I created this contest, not to pit editor against editor, but to promote article improvement and project participation and camraderie. Hopefully you will agree with its usefulness. Sign up here, read up on the rules here, and discuss the contest here. The first round of the contest may not start until September 1st-unless a large number of editors signup and are ready to compete immediately! Since this contest is just beginning, please give feedback here, or let me know what you think on my talkpage. - Trevor MacInnis 00:52, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
Reviewer granted
Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Misplaced Pages:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 05:44, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
Red Link Recovery
Hello. As a Spanish-speaking WikiGnome, I'd like to solicit your help in testing a new tool. For a few years now, the Red Link Recovery Project has been using the Red Link Recovery Live tool to track down and fix unnecessarily red links in articles. Recently, the tool has been expanded to work on non-English Wikipedias. A small set of suggested fixes for red-links on the Spanish-language Misplaced Pages have been prepared and I'm hoping to interest some Spanish-language speakers (such as yourself) to work through them.
If you are interested, please visit http://toolserver.org/~tb/RLRL/quick.php?lang=es. Each time you refresh the page you'll be presented with three new suggested fixes. I'll be happy to answer any questions on the tools talk page. - TB (talk) 20:20, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
Your invitation to participate in a Wikimedia-approved survey in online behavior.
Hello, my name is Michael Tsikerdekis, currently involved as a student in full time academic research at Masaryk University. I am writing to you to kindly invite you to participate in an online survey about interface and online collaboration on Misplaced Pages. The survey has been reviewed and approved by the Wikimedia Foundation Research Committee.
I am contacting you because you were randomly selected from a list of active editors. The survey should take about 7 to 10 minutes to complete, and it is very straightforward.
Misplaced Pages is an open project by nature. Let’s create new knowledge for everyone! :-)
To take part in the survey please follow the link: tsikerdekis.wuwcorp.com/pr/survey/?user=22762192 (HTTPS).
Best Regards, Michael Tsikerdekis (talk) 08:22, 5 February 2012 (UTC)
PS: The results from the research will become available online for everyone and will be published in an open access journal.
UPDATE: This is the second and final notification for participating in this study. Your help is essential for having concrete results and knowledge that we all can share. I would like to thank you for your time and as always for any questions, comments or ideas do not hesitate to contact me. PS: As a thank you for your efforts and participation in Misplaced Pages Research you will receive a Research Participation Barnstar after the end of the study. --Michael Tsikerdekis (talk) 07:50, 16 February 2012 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of Professional Master's in Social Sciences and Humanities
The article Professional Master's in Social Sciences and Humanities has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Individual academic programs are considered to be non-notable.
While all contributions to Misplaced Pages are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Bearian (talk) 18:23, 6 March 2012 (UTC)
- Compare this to Professional Science Master's, which is offered at many collges and universities, and thus that would be notable. Bearian (talk) 18:24, 6 March 2012 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Flashspun fabric
Thank you.You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.
A tag has been placed on Flashspun fabric, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article that does not provide sufficient context to identify its subject. Please see Misplaced Pages:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Click here to contest this speedy deletion which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}
) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the article's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Inlandmamba (talk) 07:01, 8 March 2012 (UTC)
