The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2012 will be the tenth edition of the contest, and will take place at the Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam, Netherlands on 1 December 2012. Dutch broadcaster AVRO will be the host broadcaster for the event. For the second time the Netherlands will play host to the contest. This is the first time in the history of the contest that a country will have hosted twice, with the last time being in 2007, when the contest was held in the city of Rotterdam.

The show will be hosted by Ewout Genemans and Kim-Lian van der Meij. Eight countries have so far confirmed their participation in the contest.

  •  Cyprus - CyBC confirmed to esckaz.com in Baku that Cyprus would not be returning to Junior Eurovision in 2012.
  •  Bulgaria - On the 11th of June 2012, BNT confirmed that Bulgaria would not be taking part in JESC 2012.
  •  Latvia - On the 27 of June 2012, LTV confirmed to esckaz.com that Latvia would not be taking part in JESC 2012. The reason for withdrawal was not given, however it's believed that financial issues caused the withdrawal.
  •  Lithuania - On the 27 of June 2012, LRT confirmed to esckaz.com that Lithuania would not be taking part in JESC 2012. The Lithuanian Head of Delegation said that the withdrawal was due to the expense of broadcasting the Olympics and Euro 2012 leaving no budget for participation in Amsterdam.
  •  Norway - In early June 2012, NRK of Norway confirmed that Norway would not return to the contest, this is due to a rule change that the EBU made in 2006 that allowed professional singers to take part.

Not Debuting

  •  Finland - In mid June 2012 YLE confirmed to esckaz.com that they would not be debuting at Junior Eurovision in Amsterdam. They did however say they were open to taking part in the future.
  •  Portugal - In early June 2012, RTP were approached by the EBU to take part in the 2012 contest. RTP declined due to financial difficulties.


Possible debuts

  •  Italy – In July 2011, the EBU confirmed that Italian broadcaster RAI were interested in making a debut at the 2011 edition. But a delay in negotiations meant that this would not be the case, and that Italy would certainly secure a place in 2012, if their desire to participate was still on the agenda.
  •  San MarinoSan Marino RTV had originally planned to debut in the 2011 edition of Junior Eurovision, but later withdrew their application in order to concentrate on their preparation for Eurovision Song Contest 2012 instead. However, Alessandro Capiccioni, the Head of Sammarinese delegation, told ESCDaily.com in an interview that they hope to make their debut in 2012.

Possible returns

  •  Serbia – When Serbia withdrew from the 2011 edition, the head of delegation said that an one-year break will be okay, for financial reasons and that hopefully they will return in 2012, in order to "not disappoint the Serbian kids".
  •  Spain – The web ESCkaz.com asked Spanish broadcaster TVE about their participation in future editions. The TVE was not able to give an affirmative or negative response on the participation in 2012.

Possible withdrawals

  •  Moldova – According to Andy from ESCKaz, Moldova brought a small delegation in Yerevan for the 2011 contest. He believes that, because of big financial costs and low interest, they may withdraw from the following edition.
