Greetings

Hi Kasak, I just placed a "Welcome" template on your user page to avoid red link. Feel free to replace it with anything you want to have there. If you would like to contibute to Ukraine-related articles, feel free to ask for help at my talk page. Regards, -Irpen 05:40, Jun 9, 2005 (UTC)

Got your note. You are most welcome! To sign your entries to talk pages use three tilda's like this ~~~, to have your name stamp like this "Irpen", or put four tildes ~~~~ (preferred), that would result with the name and timestampt like this. -Irpen 07:41, Jun 24, 2005 (UTC).
P.S. Currently, there are several Ukrainian projects going on, though mostly not very active. Another contributing editor would be good to have.

Misplaced Pages:Requests for adminship/Alex Bakharev

Take a look. It seems there that the raging russophobia of some is the only reason of the attempts to derail the candidacy of one of the most worthy people for the job. His unquestionably high ethics and decensy are so clear even from how he handles the criticism and shameless attacks at his own RfAdm even for those who don't know him from his contributions to Misplaced Pages! --Irpen 19:23, 10 January 2006 (UTC)

And now again, Misplaced Pages:Requests for adminship/Alex Bakharev 2 and trolled again. Please take a look and decide for yourself whether you would like to cast a vote. Also, please do not forget to check the Russia and Ukraine portals and WP. --Irpen 04:41, 22 February 2006 (UTC)

Oleg Sviatoslavich move

I just saw you move the article Oleg of Chernigov to Oleg Sviatoslavich. I think you should have waited a little more for feedback. For example I think the proper spelling is actually Oleg Svyatoslavich, but I see it has history(thanks to a bot actually, if it was an AndriyK-style move done with the impediment to futher move can be reveresed by an admin per AndriyK arbitration ruling). But it is no reason to modify the spelling because the software would allow only this move. I would like to ask you to move it back to "of Chernihiv" yourself and from there we'll see what to do next(I find it a good idea ), Brittanica styles him Oleg Svyatoslavich in Vladimir Monomakh articleGnomz(?) 06:23, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

Guys, please do not move anything else without discussion. Leave it as is and propose the moves first. Moves are much more difficult to undo. --Irpen 06:27, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
This is what I am proposing to do, but I think Oleg Sviatoslavich is a case for a unilateral reverse –Gnomz(?)
In my opinion Svyatoslavich would imply Свъятославич. Of course, only GOST would be ideal, but that would be far to confusing for most English speakers. Also keep in mind that in Polish and Lacinka (respectively) it's Swiatosław and Sviatasłaŭ. Kazak 07:16, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

I don't care about the y/i issue but promise to stick not to undo when others correct me on this. So, I am not qualified to participate in ya/ia dispute. In any case, I strongly object to udiscussed article moves, except for the obvious ones. Thanks, --Irpen 07:31, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

Karelia

Are you sure that Finnish is not official in Karelia? The republic's site is in Finnish and the very status of "republic" indicates that the титульная нация has special privileges. Kazak 20:56, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

Quite sure. Karelian/Finnish are in common use in the republic, but they do not have official status. Karelian is being promoted on the official level, and there is a strong push towards making it co-official with Russian, but so far that has not yet been accomplished. I commented to that effect on the article's talk, citing article 11.1 of the republic's Constitution, which should answer most of your other questions if you have any. Thanks for keeping eye on this.—Ëzhiki (ërinacëus amurënsis) 21:02, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

Never mind, I just found this link on the subject. Perhaps we should work it into the Karelia article? Kazak 21:00, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

Yup, that's a good one. Anons keep adding Finnish/Karelian as official to the article on the Republic of Karelia; this information should stop that.—Ëzhiki (ërinacëus amurënsis) 21:04, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

Great. I cleaned up the article (removing all the references to Finnish as official) and added a footnote to the "official language" box with a link to the Karelian government site. It's really helpful that they translate their articles into English. Kazak 21:51, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for doing that, it's much appreciated. Hopefully this will solve the problem of anon edits once and for all.—Ëzhiki (ërinacëus amurënsis) 21:53, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your voting!

Thanks!
Thanks!

Hi, thanks for your voting on my RFA. It has finished with the result 88/14/9, and I am promoted. I am really overwhelmed with the amount of support I have got. With some of you we have edited many articles as a team, with some I had bitter arguments in the past, some of you I consider to be living legends of Misplaced Pages and some nicks I in my ignorance never heard before. I love you all and I am really grateful to you.

If you feel I can help you or Misplaced Pages as a human, as an editor or with my newly acquired cleaning tools, then just ask and I will be happy to assist. If you will feel that I do not live up to your expectation and renegade on my promises, please contact me. Maybe it was not a malice but just ignorance or a short temper. Thank you very much, once more! abakharev 07:34, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
