Samuel Clarence Ford (November 7, 1882 – November 25, 1961) was an attorney and the 12th Governor of Montana.
Biography
Ford was born on November 7, 1882 in Albany, Kentucky. His early education was in the public schools of Kansas and he was graduated from the University of Kansas in 1906. He had a legal practice as well as a public service career in Helena, Montana.
Career
After serving as Assistant U S Attorney for Montana from 1908 to 1914, he served as an Attorney General and a Supreme Court Justice in Montana. Ford was governor of Montana from 1941 to 1949. He was a member of the Republican party.He is credited with reducing the state bureaucracy.
Death
Ford retired from political life when he failed to be reelected. He died in 1961 and was buried in Forestvale Cemetery.
