Ardahan ( "Ardı han" in old Turkish, Արդահան in Armenian) is the capital of Ardahan Province in north-eastern Turkey. With a population of 17,274 (2000 census) it is the smallest provincial capital in Turkey. Its named is derived from "ardı han", named after a Seljuk han ( also called cervansarai in Turkish) nearby the city.
