SL Benfica B is the reserve side of the football team of the Portuguese sports club Sport Lisboa e Benfica (SL Benfica). Like in most reserve teams new players are continuously trained every year and the best players are sent up to the major team when ready.
The reserve teams in Portugal play in the same football pyramid as their senior team rather than a separate league. However reserve teams cannot play in the same division as their main team. Therefore the B teams are ineligible for promotion to the SuperLiga or Liga de Honra. Reserve teams aren't also permitted to enter in the Portuguese Football Cup.
