Doğan Türkmen is a former Turkish diplomat.
He served in Islamabad for a short period between 27.02.1968-22.05.1968 as ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Pakistan before being transferred to Lagos, Nigeria where he served from January 28, 1969, to December 16, 1971.
On February 6, 1980, while serving as ambassador to Switzerland in Bern, he was targeted by the Armenian militant organization JCAG. He was shot at, but escaped with minor wounds. An Armenian named Max Klindjian, was subsequently arrested in Marseilles, France and returned to Switzerland for trial; he was sentenced as an accessory to two years of prison. The JCAG claimed credit for the attack.
He received the "Distinguished Service Award" conferred by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey in the year 2001.
