CFB Shearwater is a Canadian Forces Base located on the eastern shore of Halifax harbour and accessible by Halifax Metro public transit.
Shearwater is headquarters for Canadian naval helicopter aviation, formerly organized as part of the Canadian Armed Forces' Maritime Air Group and now as 12 Wing. In addition to its operational squadrons afloat on both the Atlantic and Pacific, its training and testing units are located here. It served as a base for the embryonic Canadian Air Force in the interwar periord.
