Meaning
As a sarcasm, it means to fall from a physically high place or relatively high position as well.
History
At first, 'Unji' was the name of a stamina beverage. At TV advertisement of 'unji', a man starts to run, and falls from a cliff. Former South Korean President Roh moo-hyeon, who was under investigation of receiving bribe and a Piaget watch, committed suicide by jumping off a cliff called the Owl's Rock just like the man on the commercial did. The image of the commercial and the tragic death match exactly the same.
