Sebastien Foucan is one of the pioneers of parkour, sometimes referred to as "freerunning". Foucan, along with David Belle began Parkour when he was younger and has become one of the most notable traceurs in the world. He is well known as an ambassador for parkour to many countries and is generally considered to represent parkour and traceurs in a positive light. Well known for his views on the philosophy behind parkour, he also stresses the need for proper training in the basics of parkour, not only for safety, but also to maintain the positive appearance of parkour in the public eye.

Along with David Belle and Stephane Vigoroux he was an original member of the team Yamakasi but split with them at the same time as Belle after a dispute over what David Belle described as "prostitution of their art".

He came to prominence in the UK after the showing of the Jump London documentary in September 2003, and the subsequent documentary; Jump Britain.

In addition to these factual programmes, he has added acting credits and Sebastien will appear as the terrorist Mollaka in the remake of Casino Royale, the 21st James Bond movie.
