Zahir Pajaziti (born 1952 in Podujevo, Kosovo, died in Vushtrri, Kosovo in 1997) was a commander of the Kosovo Liberation Army. In 2008, former president of Kosovo Fatmir Sejdiu declared him a Hero of Kosovo.

Biography

Zahir Pajaziti was born in Turucica, Kosovo. After the breakup of Yugoslavia in 1992, he remained in Kosovo while warfare raged in Croatia and Bosnia. In 1997, he joined the Kosovo Liberation Army, made up of Albanians who wished to fight for freedom and autonomy after Slobodan Milosevic removed the autonomy of Kosovo Province. In 1997, he was killed in a gunfight in Vucitrn with the Yugoslav People's Army.
