Move

I have moved this page to the macronned spelling of her name in accordance with WP:JATITLE. Her books in Japan are often published with her name spelled in roman letters on the cover. elvenscout742 (talk) 04:56, 19 February 2013 (UTC)

Yōko Ogawa → Yoko Ogawa – as per WP:JATITLE#Names of modern figures. Yoko (not Yōko) is "the form personally or professionally used by the person", because it is used on most of her books such as まぶた, 犬のしっぽを撫でながら, 猫を抱いて象と泳ぐ, みんなの図書室 and みんなの図書室2. Additionally, it is "the form publicly used on behalf of the person in the English-speaking world", because it is also used on all the English translations of her books such as The Diving Pool, Revenge, Hotel Iris and The Housekeeper and the Professor. 124.102.69.27 (talk) 08:04, 19 February 2013 (UTC)

• Moved, this is a case of bold, revert, discuss. The page was recently moved, so it could have been requested as a technical move. Furthermore, all evidence on English-language sources points to the use of Yoko rather than Yōko. If we are going to use Japanese book covers to point to how to spell the name then the article might just as well be moved to 小川洋子. Mysterious Island (talk) 14:29, 19 February 2013 (UTC)

• Note I have informed an administrator of the clear breach of good faith here. WP:BRD is not a hard policy, and like everything else on Misplaced Pages assumes good faith. There is no good faith in this move request, since the nom is a sockpuppet of a user who was indef blocked for following me around various articles like this. This user never showed an interest in Japanese literature before he/she started hounding me. When the sockpuppet first appeared at Talk:The Downfall of Osen where the above In ictu oculi brought up BRD and I accepted it. However, in the intervening month the situation has changed. We have no obligation to follow BRD in this case, but I will not revert the move because I am waiting for word back from an administrator. However it might be noted that the above user who performed the move also suddenly appeared after the aforementioned user got blocked, and has therefore been editing Misplaced Pages for less than a month -- where does such a new user get off closing move discussions, I wonder? elvenscout742 (talk) 14:51, 19 February 2013 (UTC)
• You appear to be claiming that Ogawa's name appears with macrons on her English-language books, but is that really true? Did you research Amazon to confirm this? See this and this for example. LittleBen (talk) 15:52, 19 February 2013 (UTC)

I don't see any breach of good faith, the anonymous editor provided a lot of very clear evidence that the name is spelt "Ogawa Yoko" on various Japanese book covers. Mysterious Island (talk) 15:46, 19 February 2013 (UTC)

No. The anonymous user is a sockpuppet of an indef-blocked user, and followed me here to undermine me, the same way he followed me to The Downfall of Osen, The Great Mirror, Gojoe, Taboo (1999 film), Tales of Moonlight and Rain, Jigai, etc., etc..
