Heleen Mees (1968) is a Dutch economist, lawyer and columnist. She is Adjunct Associate Professor at NYU Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. Before joining NYU Wagner, Mees was Assistant Professor in Economics at Tilburg University and a researcher at the Erasmus School of Economics. Mees is the author of three books; her latest Between Greed and Desire – The World between Wall Street and Main Street was published in the Netherlands in 2009. She has a weekly column in the Financieele Daglad. From 2006 - 2010 she had a column in NRC Handelsblad. She also is a contributing editor to Foreign Policy and Project Syndicate. Her work has been published in international newspapers and magazines such as The Financial Times, The New York Times, and Le Monde. In 2009 she was a TV host for Dutch Television (VARA). Since 2000 she has been living in New York City.
