Recording
In an interview with Zane Lowe, Nikolai Fraiture explained that the album was "almost all done together at Electric Lady. All five of us, hashing out the record." When asked why Electric Lady Studios, Fraiture explained, "It's a legendary studio and it's not far for all of us, except for Nick who lives in LA."
Media response to Comedown Machine was generally favorable. "Whether you're in an 'Is This It' vortex or not, this is The Strokes and they've returned with their most thought-provoking, strange and sexiest record yet," said Kieran Mayall of Clash Magazine.
