This was before the splitting of the company into Altria and Philip Morris International. This information is taken from the Philip Morris Companies, Inc. stockholders booklet for 2001, dated March 9, 2001, page 5, when Geoffrey C. In 2011, Rupert Murdoch was honoured by the University of Oxford, her alma mater, as one of its 100 most distinguished members from 10 centuries. Other honourees included Duns Scotus, William of Ockham, Erasmus of Rotterdam, Saint Thomas More, John Locke, Christopher Wren, Adam Smith, Lawrence of Arabia, Oscar Wilde, J.R.R. Tolkien and living University members Bill Clinton, Stephen Hawking and Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck. For the cover of the 2011 Prospectus , Oxford University named 100 streets in Oxford historical centre after these graduates. Mill St. was renamed for Rupert Murdoch.

Not at all. Where did you get that idea from? He was born an Australian, and is now an American. That's enough. He may have owned The Times, but that in itself doesn't make one English. -- Jack of Oz 03:05, 9 March 2013 (UTC)
