Saint Catharine College is a small Roman Catholic liberal arts college located near Bardstown, Kentucky. Originally a women's academy and junior college, the College became coeducational in 1951. The college, accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, has a current enrollment of around 700 students. Around 170 students live on campus.
History
St. Catharine Junior College, now St. Catharine College, was founded and continues to be sponsored by the Dominican Sisters of St. Catharine of Siena. Mother Mary Louis Logsdon, O.P. was the colleges first president, serving from 1931 – 1941.
Former Kentucky Governor Martha Layne Collins, the first woman to serve as the Chief Executive of Kentucky, was the college's eighth president.
