The 145mph as stands is now incorrect. Someone should adjust to the assessment corresponding to the Katrina post Tropical Cyclone report.

Any eyewitness accounts of 20 ft surge? It would be good to have some verification. Also max wave heights as opposed to surge, as waves were probably at least as significant as the rise in water from surge.Mkieper 19:07, 27 December 2005 (UTC)

Kuwait Nickname

I grew up in Plaquemines Parish and my family, until Katrina, lived there (and will) for generations. I edited the reference to the parish being called 'Kuwait' due to the fact that no one has ever heard of such a nickname! Will continue monitor...

Martial law?

This article states that martial law was imposed in the wake of Hurricane Katrina; the pages on the damage to New Orleans claim that the term "martial law" is not in Louisiana's legislation and what was declared was therefore a state of emergency. Pronunciation

Is it /ˈplɑːkəmɪnz/ or /ˈplækəmɪnz/ ? I am hearing /ˈplækəmɪnz/.

The local pronunciation is /ˈplækəmɪnz/, or something to the effect of "plaque-uh-mins." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.5.209.170 (talk) 02:00, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
