== Mediating Disputes Over "La Ciudad Blanca" ==

I hope all's well with you! I'd like to ask if you'd be willing to mediate disagreements that I'm having with another Misplaced Pages editor over the article on ], one that should probably fall under the WikiProject Mesoamerica for its content (even though it is actually about sites on the southern periphery of Mesoamerica. He and I have been going back and forth in edit wars for the past few weeks. Although we thought we'd reached an understanding, it hasn't worked. Most of the debates appear on the talk page for the article, although some also appear on each of our user talk pages. My principal complaints are that: 1) his editing of the article has been based heavily upon a popular magazine article, not reliable scholarly sources; and 2) that he continues to revert a large number of what I consider to be improvements to the article. He has accused me of inserting a personal POV, while I have denied that and have countered that in fact what is happening his that ''he'' is editing the article to reflect ''his'' POV. Ideally, as you know, the article should be as neutral, correct, and factual as possible as well as being based on reliable sources. I think we could both benefit from your experience an expertise in dealing with challenging issues of editing. If you don't have the time or interest, could you please refer this to another WikiProject Mesoamerica editor? Thanks! ] (]) 20:26, 13 June 2013 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Manzilla

A tag has been placed on Manzilla, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages for multiple reasons. Please see the page to see the reasons. If the page has since been deleted, you can ask me the reasons by leaving a message on my user talk page.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. PF (talk) 12:38, 7 February 2012 (UTC)

University of Kansas Course "The Ancient Maya" (Spring 2012) Misplaced Pages Assignment

Once again, I'm seeking to have KU students contribute to Misplaced Pages through student assignments. I've had varying success with this over the years, learning a bit and improving my procedures with each iteration. Any assistance you or other editors can offer would be greatly appreciated as students learn techniques, policies, and procedures.

This semester's assignment is due to me on March 5, 2012. I anticipate that many students will elect to script their entries as subpages, but I have once again given them the option of editing live entries if they choose. As you know, not all of the entries my students have created over the years have been acceptable or have gone live. However, many have and with good results. One of my objectives is to lead some students into becoming active contributors to Misplaced Pages and I think I've accomplished this in the past. Another is simply to improve the coverage and quality of Misplaced Pages entries in topics on which I teach. Please let me know if you have any comments or suggestions. You've been very generous and helpful in the past, and I appreciate that! Thanks! Hoopes (talk) 23:41, 8 February 2012 (UTC)

Hoopes, it looks like CJLL has taken an extended sabbatical (I hope he's alright). If I can be of any help in his absence, let me know on my Talk page. Thanks, Madman (talk) 18:47, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

Wikimedia Stories Project

Hi!

My name is Victor and I'm a storyteller with the Wikimedia Foundation, the non-profit organization that supports Misplaced Pages. I'm chronicling the inspiring stories of the Misplaced Pages community around the world, including those from readers, editors, and donors. Stories are absolutely essential for any non-profit to persuade people to support the cause, and we know the vast network of people who make and use Misplaced Pages have so much to share.

I'd very much like the opportunity to interview you to tell your story, with the possibility of using it in our materials, on our community websites, or as part of this year’s fundraiser to encourage others to support Misplaced Pages. Please let me know if you're inclined to take part in the Misplaced Pages Stories Project.

Thank you for your time,

Victor Grigas

Notification of pending suspension of administrative permissions due to inactivity

Following a community discussion in June 2011, consensus was reached to provisionally suspend the administrative permissions of users who have been inactive for one year (i.e. administrators who have not made any edits or logged actions in over one year). As a result of this discussion, your administrative permissions will be removed pending your return if you do not return to activity within the next month. If you wish to have these permissions reinstated should this occur, please post to the Misplaced Pages:Bureaucrats' noticeboard and the userright will be restored per the re-sysopping process (i.e., as long as the attending bureaucrats are reasonably satisfied that your account has not been compromised and that your inactivity did not have the effect of evading scrutiny of any actions which might have led to sanctions). This removal of access is procedural only, and not intended to reflect negatively upon you in any way. We wish you the best in future endeavors, and thank you for your past administrative efforts. Resuming activity -- watch this space!

Thanks, and thanks for the notes and kind words left, Doug, Madman2001 and Maunus much appreciated. Yes, I have been on a bit of an extended leave of absence (various reasons), longer than initially intended. I had been meaning to resume activity here earlier this year but a couple of RL commitments kept getting in the way. I should be easing myself back in to it v shortly, although not with the same general level of activity as before. Not for the next month or two anyways. But should at least be something! New Rational Skepticism WikiProject member asking for look at Theosophy entry

Since you are an active participant in the Rational Skepticism WikiProject, would you mind looking over the Misplaced Pages entry on Theosophy to see if you find any concerns?

I've been ordered to fix the page so that it accords with my understanding of the NPOV policy. I'm happy to do that but I have a lot of work at my job.

Now I've been told that I must make the changes by April 30th or the NPOV tag will be removed. I simply can't learn how to use Misplaced Pages as a newcomer, become familiar with all the sources, and make the edits if I must do it all by April 30th.

Would you look over the Theosophy page? Also, can you recommend anything? Thanks much,Factseducado (talk) 14:59, 27 April 2012 (UTC)

RfC at List of indigenous peoples Talk page

Hello CJLL Wright, I've posted an RfC on an article you've been involved in editing in the past, and am notifying you in case you'd be interested in taking a look and maybe commenting.

The RfC relates to two official UN sources describing the Palestinians and Bedouin Arabs in Israel in terms of indigenous peoples. I am somewhat new to editing these pages, but another veteran editor recently made the following comment on the Talk page, so the material seemed relevant.

As per all the other RfC on the matter since 2006- both out until recognized by an official indigenous body - so no change from the norm.Moxy (talk) 22:07, 13 December 2012 (UTC)

One of the UN sources I've cited is from 2009, the webpage does not indicate a date when the relevant material was posted, but that is general definition of thematic issues related to education issues faced by indigenous peoples, whereas the report addresses the state of affairs at a specific point in time. Are the references in these sources tantamount to official recognition by the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues?

There has been little headway made among the present group of editors toward consensus, so some fresh commentary might be helpful.--Ubikwit (talk) 05:34, 15 December 2012 (UTC)Ubikwit
