Talk:Help on previous page deletion: Ecoute
Hello there, would you please be able to help me ? Previously you have deleted a page called "Ecoute". I would like to create a page with the same title but for a software application. I am not sure I did it correctly as i called it "Ecoute_(application)" and it can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/Ecoute_(application). Are you able to assist ? Should I delete the one I have created and recreate another one with the simplest title "Ecoute" (and easier to search for readers) ? Furthermore it is the title of the software (as opposed to Ecoute Application). Thank you for your input. :-) Ludopedia (talk) 23:24, 26 February 2013 (UTC)
- Hello, the previous article was about an unrelated non-notable band. I will move your article to Ecoute, it seems the best thing to do :) Mushroom (Talk) 12:43, 27 February 2013 (UTC)
- I do thank you so much for your help, as I am a newbie and this was my first article. THANK YOU. I am a bit converned though because since yesterday there is an IP address (23.23.86.226) that keeps vandalizing the page. Actions for the past 48 hours evidently indicate vandalism (removes all content of the page & by adding sexual content (words) that are out of place and not appropriate with the subject). I am not sure what to do and have logged the Ip address to this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/Wikipedia:Administrator_intervention_against_vandalism I am not sure what else to do. Ludopedia (talk) 12:56, 27 February 2013 (UTC)
- I have blocked the user for 24 hours, please let me know if it happens again. Mushroom (Talk) 13:00, 27 February 2013 (UTC)
- Great. Thank you Mushroom. Will let you know if it happens again. :-)Ludopedia (talk) 13:07, 27 February 2013 (UTC)
- The page has not been vandalised since your intervention, so I wanted to THANK YOU. Also, I see you have improved the article: fantastic. I have studied scrupulously your edits, one by one, and this is was a great learning exercise for me, since I am new to Misplaced Pages. Thanks. All the best. The source
The source I used does not seem innappropriate to me although of course better known sources can be found to be used as references. My sincere apologies for any trouble I may have caused. That was not at all my intention. Mythic Writerlord (talk) 22:44, 13 March 2013 (UTC)
- Well I think it is inappropriate because it is not a well-established news organization as defined in our reliable sources guideline. The website was created just a few months ago, it doesn't name its editorial staff, and the owner of the site self-identifies as "a journalist in training". Please don't add it back. Mushroom (Talk)
- You seem a bit overzealous. The source isn't really all that bad is it? It can be used to reference some articles. Maybe not when better sources are available but still. Mythic Writerlord (talk) 23:15, 13 March 2013 (UTC)
- PS: The Chris Packham source came from an interview with the man published on that site. Mythic Writerlord (talk) 23:24, 13 March 2013 (UTC)

Accent for Daniela Santanchè
Hi Mushroom,
I spent a fair amount of time trying to figure out whether the accent should be acute or grave. Both versions are attested. Probably I went with acute because a grave accent on an e at the end of a word really looks pretty strange (the single-letter word è has a grave accent, but I can't immediately think of another exception, and all the conjunctions that end in ché have acute ones). Do you have a particular rationale for this choice?
By the way, I asked this question at it:discussione:Daniela Santanchè and never got a real solid answer. --Trovatore (talk) 06:17, 14 March 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Trovatore, here's my rationale:
- The "è" in Santanchè is pronounced /ɛ/. Italian grammar mandates the use of the grave accent for /ɛ/ and the acute accent for /e/ (though, as you can see, not everyone follows the rule — often not even the newspapers!).
- Santanchè's official website, Facebook profile, Twitter profile, and her husband's website all use the grave accent.
- There are some Italian words ending in "è", for instance tè, caffè, bebè, cioè, lacchè, and given names Noè, Mosè, Giosuè.
- The final "è" is quite common in place names in Northern Italy: Almè, Arsiè, Bianzè, Carrè, Cuorgnè, Dolcè, and so on.
- Many surnames from Northern Italy also end in "è": Maffè, Mattè, Bescapè, Germogliè, Caritè, and so on.
- The Santanchè family is from Northern Italy. Daniela's former husband Paolo Santanchè was born in Turin, Piedmont.
- I hope this clears it out. Cheers! Mushroom (Talk) 21:39, 14 March 2013 (UTC)
- OK, fair enough. Glad to have a definitive answer. --Trovatore (talk) 23:27, 14 March 2013 (UTC)
