Juan Pablo Galavis (born August 5, 1981) is an American born, former professional football midfielder/forward, who retired in 2008.

Football career

Born in Ithaca, New York, Galavis moved with his family to Barquisimeto, Venezuela when he was two years old. He returned to the United States to play college soccer for Roberts Wesleyan College, where he is the third all-time assists leader. After several seasons playing in the Primera División Venezolana with Caracas FC, Deportivo Italia and Monagas Sport Club, he joined Miami FC in February 2008.

Entertainment career

Juan Pablo decided to stop playing soccer after his daughter Camila was born in February 2009 because he did not want to move away from Miami. He began his career in the music business by promoting on the Miami bar and club scene. Around this time he also began working with Venezuelan musician/songwriters Frank Santofimio and Mario Donoso. They began promoting Venezuelan duet Chino y Nacho, earning them a record deal with Universal Music Latin. Servando y Florentino, L'Squadron, Treo, Obie Bermudez and Jerry Rivera are some of the bands he has also had an assisting role in bringing to Miami the following years.

Galavís appeared as a contestant on the ABC reality-television dating competition The Bachelorette in May 2013, but was eliminated. On August 5, 2013, ABC announced he would star in season 18 of The Bachelor, scheduled to premiere in January 2014.
