Gillian Leigh Anderson (born August 9, 1968) is an American actress who was born in Chicago and reared in England. She attended City Middle/High School in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she started acting in school and community theatre productions; her first role was "Officer Brophy" in Arsenic and Old Lace. She is well-known for her role as FBI Agent Dana Scully in the American TV series The X-Files.
