Jimmy "Jimbo" Wales (born August 8 1966) is an Internet entrepreneur, most famous for his founding, with Larry Sanger, of Misplaced Pages, an open content encyclopedia that draws its inspiration from the open source model and uses wiki software. He and Larry previously worked on the failed Nupedia encyclopedia project. He also founded the website Bomis, an Internet search portal which makes most of its money through the sale of erotic images.

Wales is an admirer of Ayn Rand and a firearms enthusiast.

Wales became famous after he co-founded Misplaced Pages in January 15 2001. He is also the Misplaced Pages's designated agent. Wales has spent over $400000 on Misplaced Pages and Nupedia, another online encyclopedia. USA Today described him as an Internet luminary.
