John Cardinal Heenan was born John Carmel Heenan in Ilford, Essex, England to Irish parents on 26 January, 1905.

He was ordained a priest in the Roman Catholic church in the United Kingdom on 6 July, 1930.

Heenan died on 7 November, 1975, at the age of 70.
