Ismaikel "Mike" Pérez Pérez (b. 1985 in Sancti Spíritus, Cuba) is a Cuban professional boxer best known to win the World Junior Amateur Championships at light heavyweight in Jeju in 2004. Perez also, won the International Prizefighter tournament. He is currently going through the process of obtaining Irish citizenship.

Amateur career

In 2004 at the Junior Championships the Southpaw beat Englishman Danny Price in the semifinals and Russian Nikolay Pavlyukov 38:16 in the final.

He later lost to compatriot Yoan Pablo Hernandez and Yusiel Napoles at 178 lbs but beat Kenneth Egan and Constantin Bejeranu.

He went up to 201 lbs but had problems with the world class domestic competition like 2006 champion Luis Ortiz who beat him in 2006 (he returned the favor in 2007) and especially by Osmay Acosta who beat him 2007 in the National Final.

Professional

He, along with Alexei Acosta and Luis Garcia defected to Ireland in 2007.

In 2008, he turned professional in Cork under Cuban coach Nicholas Cruz (Hernández) who came to Ireland in 1988. He calls himself Mike "The Rebel" Perez.

Perez has a professional record of 19 fights and 19 wins including 12 knock-outs.

He then fought and won against American journeyman Zack Page in a rematch on November 9, 2011, in York Hall, Bethnal Green, London.

Perez made his United States debut on 30 December 2011, against the Nigerian heavyweight boxer Friday Ahunanya. The location for the fight was Morongo Casino, Resort & Spa, Cabazon, California.
