Prehistory of Poland

I appreciate your effort in expanding this subject. Could I ask you to use inline citations? Dzieki! -- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk  18:49, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

To do

Once you think you are nearing the end of prehistory article, consider WP:PR and WP:GAC.-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk  00:47, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

Hi

I note you have quite some knowledge about Slaivc tribes. Do you have any deeper information about the Antes ? Regards Hxseek (talk) 18:29, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

That's cool. I got some info on them. I think i will write an article on them soon. Hxseek (talk) 02:11, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

Template

I've created {{Prehistory of Poland}}. Please add topics to it if you think there are missing; also note that we need to add pre-10th century events to the Timeline of Polish history (or remove the link to this article from this template).--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 04:28, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Re:History of Poland

I am afraid I don't understand your question. The articles and their recent edit history seem ordinary. Could you be more specific and present diffs in the future? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 18:37, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Prehistory quality

I've nominated your series on Polish prehistory at WP:GAC for WP:GA status. You may also want to consider the Misplaced Pages:Featured topic candidates for WP:FT status. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 19:00, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

Style is important. It makes it easier for the user to navigate across different Misplaced Pages articles.
Getting articles promoted to GA or FA makes them more likely to be accessed by outsiders. Wouldn't you like to see your articles featured for 24h on Misplaced Pages frontpage - both in recognition of your work, and educating millions out there on topics they might have never head of?
Misplaced Pages extensive inline citations may seem excessive for one used to more sparse academic articles. But historians of Poland all know about Grunwald. How many Americans even heard of it or the Teutonic Knights? Whatever the fact, majority of people out there have little to no knowledge of it, and so we should reference even basic claims.
I hope you'll become more involved in our little community. After all, we are here to help one another.--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 02:10, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

Prehistory of Poland (2)

Anyways, I've seen that Piotrus wants to help push you along the path to GA and FA articles, and if you've got any questions, I'm here to help, too. Gary King (talk) 16:53, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
Okay, feel free to renominate them at WP:GAN. Gary King (talk) 22:34, 20 November 2008 (UTC)

Re: Image

Images are hosted locally; what that means is that image on pl wikipedia WILL not work on non pl wikipedia and vice versa. There's an exception - interwiki project for global hosting of images, Wikimedia Commons. I highly recommend that (if the picture on pl wikipedia is freely licensed) you downloaded it, upload it to commons, tag the with {{subst:NowCommons}} and than you can use the image on en wikipedia (and so can anybody on all wikis). Let me know if you run into any troubles, or when you're done (I'll verify that all is in order).--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 18:09, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

Prehistory of Poland (3)

Excellent job! I suggest you submit it to WP:GAC and WP:FT. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 22:35, 20 November 2008 (UTC)

WP:FTC is the correct link. That will have to wait until all these articles are good articles, though. Gary King (talk) 22:39, 20 November 2008 (UTC)

Orczar, is there any reason you've not yet nominated those articles for GAC? Would you like me to do it for you? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 21:05, 27 November 2008 (UTC)

How to nominate an article for Good Article status: the procedure is quite simple, and described at the top of WP:GAC. Let me know if you have any questions! --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 22:13, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of Prehistory of Poland (until 966)

The article Prehistory of Poland (until 966) you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold . It hasn't failed because it's basically a good article, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needed to be addressed. If these are fixed within seven days, the article will pass, otherwise it will fail. See Talk:Prehistory of Poland (until 966) for things needed to be addressed.

Re: Polish prehistory GA reviews

I think you are doing a good job. Take your time addressing the issues or discussing them with the reviewers, if you think I or others can weight in on the issue, let us know with a link to the particular discussion. Also, if you explain your time constrains to the reviewers, I am sure they'll extend the time the article is under a review.--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 18:19, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

GAN of Poland in Antiquity

Hi Orczar, This article is, I beleive, at GA-level, but there are a few minor holds that need to be resolved before I can award GA.Pyrotec (talk) 20:47, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

Re: GAN of Stone Age Poland

I was checking in to see if you needed more time to work on this article? I can hold it for another week but then I will need to make a determination. It is close to GA status, just a few adjustments should do the trick. Let me know. H1nkles (talk) 18:06, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

Poland in the Early Middle Ages GA

Hi, I noticed that you have been making some improvements to the article in response to the second review. Just to let you know, I'm planning to go through the list of issues some time tomorrow to make a final determination. Very exciting to finally finish this up! Wronkiew (talk) 18:00, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

I don't know if I'll be able to finish this up today after all, but I left some comments on the review page for you to address in the meantime. Wronkiew (talk) 23:34, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

There's just a few issues left. Could you take a look at the GA review page and either fix the remaining issues or explain why they should be left as-is? Thanks for your patience. Wronkiew (talk) 07:34, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for your response at the GA page. I wrote some more about the lead which I hope clarifies my position. Let me know if you have any further questions about it. Wronkiew (talk) 06:04, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

I asked Piotrus for a second opinion on the issues with the lead. Can you take a look at the review page and fix the specific issues that he brought up? Wronkiew (talk) 17:27, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

Poland in the Early Middle Ages

I noticed you are the most involved editor at Poland in the Early Middle Ages. Upon request by Wronkiew, I introduced some changes concerning structure (chronology, substructure), GA-criteria (esp. for the lead section), and factual accuracy. However, there are some issues I have not resolved as I was not sure how to proceed best. Maybe you want to have a look at User_talk:Wronkiew#Early_medieval_history_of_Poland. Keep up good work! Polish protohistory

Are any of those books you cited available in English ? Hxseek (talk) 05:40, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

That's true. Alas, i cannot speak Polish. Polish archaeology is key to understanding the 'expansion of Slavs'. I have come across a good article by Z Kobylinski about the changes in Poland during the 6th century. He discusses whether it is a socio-economic change or a true migration of new ethnic elements - ie "Slavs". I'm just waiting for it to arrive in my local library Hxseek (talk) 01:24, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

Zarubinec culture

Hi again. I note that, in your (excellent) article on Polish protohistory, you state that the Zarubinec culture's stagnation was due to a lack of Roman influences, according to Kaczanowski, Kozłowski. If it's not too much trouble, and if you still have their book, can you please provide me a direct quote as to what they say on the matter ? Hxseek (talk) 21:35, 19 September 2009 (UTC)

Thanks mate. BTW, I came across a good book in English The Arcaheology of early medieval Poland by A Buzko. Hxseek (talk) 05:18, 20 September 2009 (UTC)

History of Poland

Great work. There are however large parts that still need references, are you going to add them as soon as you are finished? If you are writing from memory or from a university course script, I could help you out with adding refs. I noted you are currently working on the Swedish war, I could add refs to that from RI Frost and P Englund - if you want me to, just drop me a note as soon as you are done with that chapter. If you are going to add refs by yourself, nevermind. Best Skäpperöd (talk) 15:40, 15 January 2010 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of Poland during the Piast dynasty

Hello, I just wanted to introduce myself and let you know I am glad to be reviewing the article Poland during the Piast dynasty you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. Viriditas (talk) 07:55, 18 November 2010 (UTC)

Sorry for the delay. I hope to start this in the next 24 hours. Viriditas (talk) 12:27, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
I'm trying to finish this up. The article is currently on hold due to some issues with the prose. Can you help me fix it? I've listed some problems in the prose section of the review, but you can start by helping with the 14th century section. Viriditas (talk) 08:34, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
I think all the issues listed under the prose section have been addressed. I also looked through your recent edits. Orczar (talk) 14:09, 22 December 2010 (UTC)

Good work; I do agree that the article is B-class. May I suggest that you make such notifications at WT:POLAND, not just my talk page? One note: you add references to the end of paragraphs. Preferably (certainly, required for GA and above), references should be added to the end of all sentences (because on Misplaced Pages, other editors can move sentences around, add new ones in the middle of paragraphs, and so on). --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 05:01, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

Welcome to our first issue of WikiProject Poland newsletter, the Monitor (named after the first Polish newspaper).

I highly recommend watchlisting the Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Poland page, so you can be aware of the ongoing discussions. We hope you will join us in them, if you haven't done so already! In addition to a lively encyclopedic, Poland-related, English-language discussion forum, we have numerous useful tools that can be of use to you - and that you could help us maintain and develop:

This is not all; on our page you can find a list of useful templates (including userboxes), awards and other tools!

With all that said, how about you join our discussions at WT:POLAND? Surely, there must be something you could help others with, or perhaps you are in need of assistance yourself?

Hey

Hey Orczar; I know you're quite active in work for early medieval Poland history; and youve done great stuff.

However, I think the Ukrainian origins of Slavs has been an unproven dogma which continues to be propagated by eastern European scholarship which still uses outdated and inflexible methodology. might I refer you to some of the works of S Brather regarding the origin of western Slavs. Essentially, we can colnclude the western Slavs originate in their respective territories, and not in Russia, or the Pripyat, etc (but without recourse to the also outdated and sometimes nationalist-driven approaches of the Polish Autochthonists)

Na Zdravye Slovenski Volk (talk) 02:27, 17 June 2012 (UTC)

Yes, he has done some good work, including an artilce very recently (I can email to you if you wish). Basically, the apparent depopulation of Poland at teh end of the "Przeworsk" culture was a phenomenon experience throughout all Europe in post-Roman period, although less so in the south (Italy, Spain, southern Gaul, Greek littoral). Perhaps there was changes in social structure and material forms used which explains the apparent hiatus in the material record. Slovenski Volk (talk) 11:44, 19 June 2012 (UTC)

Assistance request neutrality dispute Haller's Blue Army (Poland) page

Hello, to resolve an ongoing neutrality dispute on the Blue Army (Poland) page, I'm requesting any assistance possible from experienced Misplaced Pages editors to look at the 'Controversies' section of the Blue Army page, and review the text for possible bias. I'm not an seasoned Misplaced Pages contributor myself, in fact I don't really edit much at all. But, when I came across the Blue Army page, I was taken aback by the blunt and inaccurate way in which the subject matter was portrayed! The list of possible neutrality violations is extensive, and due to my novice editor status all my past attempts to modify the text have been dismissed as being disruptive, and subsequently reversed:

Possible neutrality issues found on the Blue Army (Poland) 'Controversies' section: Neutrality Tag is constantly being taken down without reaching a final consensus on the subject matter. Weasel word are used to create an overall exaggerated impression of the events in question, and others are used to cast doubt on anything reported by the Polish side as being legitimate. POV and the use of questionable secondary source references, which contradict primary source accounts of the events. In this case the investigation conducted by the United States envoy to Poland Hugh S. Gibson and his subsequent State Department report on the issue. The American envoy found that: many of the newspaper reports alleging antisemitism were planted by the German and Soviet governments, and had been inflated or even based on hearsay and confabulation. Also, the envoy reported that many of the "pogroms" were in fact food riots, where an even larger number of Christian shops were ransacked. Undue Weight specific events are taken out of context, such as: abuse of civilians during the military campaign by the Blue Army troops is automatically labeled as antisemitic. Thus, taken out of context, when in fact looting was not only restricted to jewish households.

In the end, I understand that this is a difficult subject matter, and that some of the troops did engage in open antisemitism. But, by breaking the above listed neutrality rules, the editor (Faustian) who wrote much of the section, is creating a false picture of the Blue Army, in which the reader comes away with the bias impression that "Pogroming" is the only thing the Blue Army did.

Again, for a quick snapshot of the primary source's account of the events, please see the United States envoy Hugh S. Gibson Misplaced Pages page. And, thank you for any assistance in this matter. --68.191.79.36 (talk) 21:39, 10 May 2013 (UTC)

History of Poland for GA

I think the article may not be far from a GA. I'd like to give it some copyedit, and than nominate it, unless you think there are areas still lacking major development? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 10:17, 13 September 2013 (UTC)

Some cake for you

Inter-ethnic editing award
Hope you like poppyseed cake. Thanks for making so many improvements to the history of Lithuania, Poland, and the Commonwealth. I've not had to check every one for neutrality and accuracy because it became clear long ago that you are a really careful editor. Best wishes. Novickas (talk) 21:16, 7 October 2013 (UTC)

Last two cites on Historia Polski

Last two! Can't find 'em! This is the relevant issue of Polityka. As for the Gross interview: on styl.pl? really? And Domagalik writes for Wprost, yer? Well, on that assumption, I probed wprost.pl for "Jan T. Gross" and variations thereof, but I could not see the relevant article. Maybe I missed it. So I'm stuck! Any ideas? Pozdrawiam! Some articles disappear from the internet or are otherwise inaccessible. I'll take a look when I get a chance. Orczar (talk) 19:50, 22 October 2013 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Misplaced Pages appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited History of Poland, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Eastern Rite (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
