Tharwa Public School was opened in 1899.

Tharwa Primary School is located in the small village of Tharwa, Australian Capital Territory. It was built in 1898 and opened in 1899. A more detailed history can be found on the official school website . The school currently has two classrooms for the primary school, plus a pre-school room. The annual Tharwa Fair, hosted by the school, is held in May. However, in the 2006-07 Australian Capital Territory budget, the planned closure of the Tharwa Preschool and the Tharwa Primary School was announced. Under this proposal, children currently attending Tharwa Primary School would probably need to attend Conder Primary School or Gordon Primary School.
