- You can use helpful scripts like Popups or all this stuff and edit semi-protected pages (after a while), which is pretty neat. Some of the more trigger-happy users are also less likely to rollback your changes when they see a username instead of an IP. --illythr (talk) 19:30, 23 June 2013 (UTC)

Hey, I put the new socks you found after User:Dennis Brown closed the previous investigation into their own new section. Just a heads up. Ansh666 03:42, 2 July 2013 (UTC)
- It doesn't matter, they are already blocked. We just need a list to know what edits/articles to check later. Someone not using his real name (talk) 03:43, 2 July 2013 (UTC)
- Okay, then, it'll probably be closed soon. Thanks anyways, Ansh666 03:46, 2 July 2013 (UTC)
- The problem with stale socks is there just isn't anything we can do there. We stay backlogged, so there isn't much purpose in investigating someone who hasn't edited in a year. Actually, we cant run a CU on anything over 90 days old, they purge the logs. Dennis Brown | 2¢ | WER 10:13, 2 July 2013 (UTC)
- That's fine. I think you have helped substantially already. Most of those accounts on the list I created/updated are blocked either by now you or were blocked by AGK (back in Feb.), except for maybe for 5-10 or so of the 50 accounts I listed, the oldest ones. I did not request a check-user on the stale ones myself; Ansh666 did, but he understands now that is not helpful. My goal there was to have to a list of the accounts that have edited substantially, so myself and possibly others interested (e.g. Ansh666) can coordinate in a review/clean-up of the problematic edits, mostly of the stub articles these socks created. If I should have created the list somewhere else, I apologize, but I don't know of another place that would have been appropriate. I've avoided listing accounts that have been blocked when they have made only trivial or no contributions, e.g. Special:Contributions/Neuhr, those whose contributions whose contributions were not apparently problematic, e.g. Special:Contributions/Xuihua, Special:Contributions/Uwkka or Special:Contributions/Fuyuoy, Special:Contributions/Wnuak or those whose contributions have been checked for content problems already, e.g. Special:Contributions/Xuaoi (Exotic weaponry already deleted; I guess we should still evaluate if the associated category created is of some use to the reader.) Deletions
I noticed that you're trying to delete some "not notable" Russian firearms. I agree with you, and you can find many more on the List of Russian weaponry page. Also, please look at the List of Russian inventions page. It is filled with Russian propaganda claiming to have invented everything from the wheel to the computer. It also uses Misplaced Pages pages as references and is filled dead internet links, and completely unverifiable foreign language references that do not meet Wiki standards. I have tried to remove some of them myself but was reverted.--RAF910 (talk) 19:16, 2 July 2013 (UTC)
As for the NA-2 and NA-4 I also vote for deletion as they are not notable and certainly not deserving of their own pages. Both are dead end prototypes. Both articles consist of only two sentences. If the Armalite AR-15, a real production rifle that evolved into the M16 and semi-auto Colt AR-15 does not merit its own page, then the NA-2 and NA-4 most certainly do not. If you want to add them to the deletion page I will support you.--RAF910 (talk) 22:44, 4 July 2013 (UTC)

Its possible I put the wrong one in there. There is another source that I used and can't find it here, it may be at my other home or office. When I work on a lot of articles, I keep alot of reference material at hand and every now and then slip up on one. Thanks for working constructively with me on this. List of fashion designers
Hi - Edith Flagg was born in Romania, so she is listed under Romania. It was decided that rather than risk trying to sort people by the country they are most active in (which could lead to some people being listed under ALL the countries they've got shops/business activity in), sorting by nationality (place of birth) was a consistent rule of thumb which meant that there could only be one place on the list for each name - their place of birth. Yes, it's not a perfect science, but it avoids people adding Chanel and Versace to every single place on the list. Mabalu (talk) 18:49, 16 July 2013 (UTC)
- I replied to you on the article's talk page. She also became a US citizen. Someone not using his real name (talk) 19:00, 16 July 2013 (UTC)

Re: ANI vs. AE
I don't think your assessment of the situation with Badmintonhist's stalking is accurate. A number of the edits (both linked in the current case and in the previous one here) are not about abortion at all, and simply illustrate that Badmintonhists primary motivation in editing is to revert me or otherwise prevent me from editing. It may or may not be motivated, at base, by an editing agenda, but I don't think that's the concern here; it's just misbehavior. –Roscelese (talk ⋅ contribs) 17:59, 25 July 2013 (UTC)
DYK
Hi Someone not using his real name, I saw your new article, Shpitalny Sh-37. It is the right size to be submitted for DYK, so, I took the liberty of nominating it for the Did You Know section on the main page. I hope you like the hook! Matty.007 17:15, 29 July 2013 (UTC)
- I'm still working on improving the article, but I don't mind. Also I have expanded a few others, which probably qualify including PV-1 machine gun and Nudelman-Suranov NS-45. Those are a bit more mature, because I've exhausted most of the material available about them. Someone not using his real name (talk) 17:17, 29 July 2013 (UTC)
- You can nominate them yourself if you want, just go here, and follow the instructions. Ignore anything you see about QPQ, that only applies after you have 5 DYK credits. I wasn't sure if you were aware of the DYK process, so thought you could get involved... Matty.007 17:44, 29 July 2013 (UTC)
- They have both been expanded 5X or more, so I would suggest that you nominate them at DYK, they only accept nominations up to 5 days old. Matty.007 17:55, 29 July 2013 (UTC)

DYK for Shpitalny Sh-37
On 2 August 2013, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Shpitalny Sh-37, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that there were only 240 of the Soviet cannon Shpitalny Sh-37 created? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Shpitalny Sh-37. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. Hey, sorry for the somewhat blown-out-of-proportion misunderstanding
I apologize for assuming bad faith on your part. Your pointing out your edits from back in 2007 convinced me that I was in fact in the wrong. You will understand that it certainly looked like you were a meat puppet when you made your first edit under your more recent IP, so I hope you can forgive my having drawn certain conclusions from that. You were also acting in good faith when you opened your recent SPI. ArbCom was already looking into it, as I had openly admitted to using multiple accounts on ANI. They really did come to the conclusion that my editing was not disruptive, and that I was justified in hiding my identity after the previous incident. (I'm still not going to give you the worst, non-public details of that earlier incident unless you tell register an e-mail with your account, though.) They said that I needed to stop editing under multiple named accounts, so I plan on ending my Misplaced Pages activity after the dust has settled on the Bagworm issue, and I promised them to limit myself exclusively to this account until then. They will notice immediately if I start editing under other accounts. Anyway, I hope there is no longer any bad blood between the two of us. Kind regards, Coldman the Barbarian (talk) 12:22, 4 August 2013 (UTC)
- No problem. I think I may have overreacted in my replies somewhat. I wish you well. Someone not using his real name (talk) 12:26, 4 August 2013 (UTC)
Regarding ANI
Not to beat a dead horse until its head falls off, but regarding this edit: if you go back and look at his contributions list, a very, very large proportion of his JLit edits are only semi-constructive at best. Most of his sources were questionable online poetry mags, with articles representing a consensus among modern English poets rather than Japanese literary scholars, and it got to the point of blatant advertisement at times. His last post blatantly expressed nostalgia for the 2008-2012 period when I was inactive and he could get away with that, and also insisted that I was "new to the area" of Japanese literature even though I had been editing in the area in 2005. Until I got involved he refused to interact with the rest of the Misplaced Pages community, and whenever I tried to bring in comments from the broader community he referred to the tag-team he had formed with one other COI modern English poetry edit as "consensus". Why did he retire? Did he realize he didn't have a case to bring to the Misplaced Pages community, and that it wouldn't take long for the same thing as happened to his tag-team partner to happen to him? Search Talk:Haibun and Talk:Prosimetrum for the word "consensus" and you will quickly find him referring to his own opinion (shared by the banned user Tristan noir) as "consensus". I don't expect you to go back and do extensive research on these issues before commenting, but please at least read my comments before just assuming I am lying. It was pretty obvious throughout that discussion that you had not bother reading my original case. Hijiri 88 (聖やや) 13:50, 7 August 2013 (UTC)
- Tristan noir is topic banned IIRC, not fully banned. Just a note. Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 18:35, 7 August 2013 (UTC)

ABF accusations
Give it a goddamn break already. Joe jobs are impossible because of CU. Maybe the reason I "edit-warred" with myself was because I was upset that JoshuSasori had caused me to miss WP:APRIL. It doesn't matter now anyway, as I have committed numerous times to using only this account.
But the times IPs similar to mine reverted my logged-in edits were both NOT me.
Please stop it with the hounding or you'll be the next one taken to ANI. People who hound me have a nasty habit of getting blocked when they get there.
Hijiri 88 (聖やや) 13:55, 8 August 2013 (UTC)
By the way
My IP is also shared by a banned vandal/conspiracy-theorist. And I never said the person on the same IP range as me who reverted me was the same person as JoshuSasori, nor that he/she was harassing me. Don't lie about me. Please. Grow up. Or the same thing that happened to all the other users who hounded me and were brought to ANI will happen to you.
Cheers!

DYK for Nudelman-Suranov NS-45

Opinion
Hi Someone not using his real name, please if you could kindly spare some time and drop in your thoughts on the new steps, moderated by admin Nick-D, that are being taken to resolve the dispute regarding blitzkrieg on the Battle of Kursk article. EyeTruth (talk) 17:19, 20 August 2013 (UTC)
- Sorry, it looks too time consuming. I've already said what I had to say about this on the DRN page. Someone not using his real name (talk) 17:23, 20 August 2013 (UTC)
- Oh, ok. Although this is just about giving your opinion regarding two versions being put forward. But if you still think that is time consuming, you can just summarize your view presented in the DRN case. Something as brief as a one or two sentence-summary will suffice. Other editors involved would appreciate your input. EyeTruth (talk) 17:53, 20 August 2013 (UTC)
Hi Someone, there is an ongoing poll to settle this issue once and for all. Nick-D has suggested that a poll on the suggested wordings would be the best way to avoid the whole drama and reach a conclusion. All you need to do this time around is to place your vote for whichever version you think is preferable. The LINK EyeTruth (talk) 17:31, 27 August 2013 (UTC)

- I think you should ask someone with script (file mover?) access on Commons. I have marked the old (jpg) image as superseded, but apparently more bureaucracy is needed per commons:Commons:Superseded_images_policy#Redundant.2Fbad_quality. Someone not using his real name (talk) 15:44, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
- It seems you have created the png from the larger jpg (File:UDR Sign.jpg), so there's not visible difference between the the smaller jpg and the png, although there is a minor size difference 99 Kb jpg vs. 95 Kb png. Probably not worth the hassle to do replacement manually under these circumstances, although one of those script wizards from Commons would probably do it in a heartbeat. - I think the design, like that of many artillery pieces, was licensed, so it's hard to disentangle the licensed production vs. units that were sold by the manufacturer, and the arms trade in that era was even more shady than it is now. Add in that documentation was in multiple languages, a couple of intervening wars, and the fact that it was probably a secret at the time, and it'll be hard to source without a research archive at hand. DYK for De Bange 155 mm cannon
On 12 September 2013, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article De Bange 155 mm cannon, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that the French 155 mm cannon model 1877 (pictured) was still in use in the 1940s? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/De Bange 155 mm cannon. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Re: BASC
I can't think of a situation where we've overturned a community ban without community consultation beforehand, but we hear appeals from all users. Often we punt community bans back to the community. Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs 23:50, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
- Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs, exactly what is involved in a "community consultation"? A conversation on an Editor's Talk Page or posing the case at AN/I? I'm trying to find out what is required to be unblocked from "community consensus" and I'm being told different things.
- In the case of Bonkers the Clown, an Admin reviewed the case and unblocked him. In the case of L'Origine, a different Admin reviewed the appeal and declined. But there was no "community" involvement even though both Editors were indefinitely blocked because of cases posted to AN/I that went a little wild and off-track (and on the same day, but different results). Liz 22:05, 27 September 2013 (UTC)
- Liz, it's important that you realize there is a distinction between a community ban, and a community block. Neither Bonkers nor L'Origine have been community banned at any stage; however, both were indefinitely blocked by community consensus. It is possible for an individual admin, with local support, to overturn a community block; but any community ban appeal has to go through WP:AN. :) Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 22:13, 27 September 2013 (UTC)
- Just seeing this comment, Lukeno94. I didn't realize that a community ban was even possible via AN/I. I thought bans were only given out by ARBCOM. Liz 13:22, 2 October 2013 (UTC)
- You can't be community banned via ARBCOM. A community ban is a ban voted on by the community at AN or ANI. Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 14:09, 2 October 2013 (UTC)
- Then, Lukeno94, what do you call a site-wide ban levied by ARBCOM? Just a site ban? Liz 23:02, 3 October 2013 (UTC)
- An "ARBCOM ban", is what I would call it. Site ban also works, but that's a general term that could apply for both. There may be a proper/official term for an ARBCOM ban; if there is, I can't remember what it is at present. Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 23:06, 3 October 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks, Lukeno94, much appreciated! Liz 02:03, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
