Lieutenant General Raheel Sharif (Urdu/Template:Lang-pnb) is four star army officer in Pakistan Army. He is the 15th Chief of Army Staff of the Pakistan Army.
Personal life
Sharif was born on the 16th of June, 1956 in Quetta to a family of military background. He is the younger brother of Major Shabbir Sharif who died fighting in the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971 and received the Nishan-e-Haider. Despite sharing a common surname, he is not related to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. He is married and has three children, which include two sons and a daughter.
Military career
Sharif received his formal education from the Government College in Lahore and then attended the Pakistan Military Academy for military education. After graduation, he was commissioned into the 6th battalion of the Frontier Force Regiment in 1976. During his early years, he performed duties in an infantry brigade in Gilgit and also served as an adjutant to the Pakistan Military Academy. Over the years, he rose up in the military ranks and was given command of the 11th Infantry Division in Lahore by General Pervez Musharraf.

On 27 November 2013, Sharif was appointed as the 15th Chief of Army Staff of the Pakistan Army by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
