Whitney Houston articles

Hi! Thank you for your contributions. Please be careful next time. Do not remove information from the lead and succession table should go on the External links section, not charts section. Thanks! Novice7 (talk) 15:58, 21 March 2011 (UTC)

Are you a Whitney fan? From your edits, it seems like you are :) Novice7 (talk) 15:03, 2 April 2011 (UTC)

Please don't make edits like this. It violates WP:MoS completely. Also, VRT charts–I don't know if they can be used. I'd have to clarify that. Novice7 (talk) 12:54, 16 April 2011 (UTC)

Please, I don't mean to hurt you but you are violating the style of articles. Also, as you might have seen the article is a Good article. I've restored back. If you have any questions, please ask on my talk page. Thank you. Novice7 (talk) 10:47, 17 April 2011 (UTC)

May 2011

Thank you for your contributions to Misplaced Pages. Before saving your changes to an article, please provide an edit summary, which you forgot to do before saving your recent edit to Whitney Houston (album). Doing so helps everyone understand the intention of your edit (and prevents legitimate edits from being mistaken for vandalism). It is also helpful to users reading the edit history of the page. Thank you. Please stop moving succession boxes. You're violating WP:FOOTER. Novice7 (talk) 10:38, 29 May 2011 (UTC)

Please please please use edit summaries. Novice7 (talk) 12:47, 29 May 2011 (UTC)

July 2011

Welcome to Misplaced Pages. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Using different styles throughout the encyclopedia, as you did in As I Am, makes it harder to read. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Although U.S. is the more standard abbreviation for United States, for consistency in an article, if the abbreviated form for the United States appears alongside other abbreviated country names, avoid periods throughout (Misplaced Pages:Manual of Style#Abbreviations). Feel free to restore your recent edit to the article, with the exception of the aforementioned abbreviation style. Thank you. Dan56 (talk) 19:55, 10 July 2011 (UTC)

Whitney Houston articles

Hi. I've asked you before to use Edit summaries in articles. Also, Misplaced Pages cannot be used a reference in another Misplaced Pages article. Plus, I also have a doubt about the inter-wiki links. Please use edit summaries from now. It's not that hard. Novice7 (talk) 05:24, 4 September 2011 (UTC)

According to who a Misplaced Pages page cannot be used as a source? Also, could you be kind as to stop reverting my edits, please. Thank you.--Samsonite Man (talk) 15:21, 4 September 2011 (UTC)

I'm glad you replied :) Take a look at this. Also, I reverted only a few edits of yours where the source was unreliable. I can't really thank you enough for adding the links to the year-end charts and other sections because they're very very helpful. Thank you for contributing to Whitney articles. By the way, are you a Whitney fan? Novice7 (talk) 04:26, 5 September 2011 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification

Hi. When you recently edited I Will Always Love You, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages IRMA and ARIA (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Charts

Dutchcharts.nl hosts the Single Top 100, not Dutch Top 40. Top40.nl hosts the latter and the two charts are entirely different. Ryōga Hibiki (talkcontribs) 03:11, 21 February 2012 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for March 6

Hi. When you recently edited Whitney: The Greatest Hits, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Arista (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Using {{Certification Table Entry}}

Hi there. I noticed you are using {{Certification Table Entry}} and having some difficulties. I just thought I'll offer my assistance in case anything is unclear or not working. Best regards and happy editing! --Muhandes (talk) 17:52, 10 March 2012 (UTC)

Hi! I'm experiencing some problems with Certifications template. See: The Ultimate Collection. (Samsonite Man (talk) 19:50, 1 August 2012 (UTC))

September 2012

Thank you for your contributions to Misplaced Pages. I noticed your recent edit to Girl on Fire (Alicia Keys song) does not have an edit summary. Please provide one before saving your changes to an article, as the summaries are quite helpful to people browsing an article's history. Thanks! — Lil_niquℇ 1 14:49, 8 September 2012 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Misplaced Pages appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited The Collection (Whitney Houston album), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page IRMA (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Girl on Fire

Allow me to explain a few things.

  • The section is called Music and Lyrics because it is about the production of the song and its lyrics. The main version is the single therefore the composition section speaks about this main version. We don't need to label it as such. The remixes have their own subsection which distinguishes them from the main version thus label a section "main version" is redundant. Additionally the section discusses the song as a whole. What it says is relevant to the inferno version, as the inferno version is identical to the main version but features additional verses from Minaj. The production etc is near identical.
  • The Gabby Douglas image is there for illustrative purposes. There is no valid editorial reason for removing the image.
  • Finally per WP:CHARTS, you'll find its common practice to include GENRE charts. In the same way that we've listed US R&B/Hip-Hop chart alongside the Hot 100, there's no valid reason for not including the Australian Urban Chart alongside the Australian Singles chart. Also per the guidelines if a song doesn't appear on the main single's chart you can include a download or airplay chart so long as its official. So your comment "not a common practice to include them in articles!" simply isn't based on fact and is incorrect.

If you still disagree take it to the talk page but you'll certainly find that your removal of the charts is wrong and there's no editorial reason for removing the image. — Lil_niquℇ 1 11:26, 28 September 2012 (UTC)

I have explained my edits clearly. You seem to think that you own the article. Please stop reverting other peoples' justified edits. (Samsonite Man (talk) 14:26, 28 September 2012 (UTC))

Its not a case of justifying your edits. They're wrong in-line with the rules and guidelines we have, particularly regarding singles and albums charts. You have an inherent preference for giving additional weight to US charts when in reality many semi-professional and professional standard articles contain genre charts. We set up WP:CHARTS for that very reason - so that everyone has a clear guide for what is/isn't acceptable with charts. Particularly pay attention to Misplaced Pages:CHARTS#Dependent_.28.22component.22.29_charts. I've tried being reasonably with you... like I've said the section names/headings are editors choice and I've explained clearly why the edits are corrected in extreme detail above. I've even pointed you the guidelines were appropriate. All you've done is tell me your edits are justified but you can't even answer the points above. Also this message on my talk page has no merit because I haven't removed or blanked any content. whereas you have removed sourced charts which are allowed for no apparent reason and after being reverted you've continued hence warnings have been issued. Also you might want to pay attention to WP:DEADHORSE. — Lil_niquℇ 1 16:37, 28 September 2012 (UTC)

Warnings

Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Misplaced Pages, as you did to Girl on Fire (Alicia Keys song), without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear constructive and has been reverted. Please make use of the sandbox if you'd like to experiment with test edits. Thank you. Please stop. per the guidelines at WP:CHARTS it is standard practice use airplay charts when normal single charts are not available. There is absolutely no reason to omit genre charts. Lil_niquℇ 1 14:04, 28 September 2012 (UTC)

This is your last warning. The next time you remove or blank page content or templates from Misplaced Pages, as you did at Girl on Fire (Alicia Keys song), you may be blocked from editing without further notice. — Lil_niquℇ 1 14:06, 28 September 2012 (UTC)

This is your only warning; if you remove or blank page contents or templates from Misplaced Pages again, as you did at Girl on Fire (Alicia Keys song), you may be blocked from editing without further notice. — Lil_niquℇ 1 12:26, 30 September 2012 (UTC)

Request reason:

I was blocked for following the guidelines at WP:CHARTS regarding chart positions

Decline reason:

It looks like you disagree with other users about how those guidelines should be used. I looked for the section of Talk:Girl on Fire (Alicia Keys song) where you explain what you are doing and why, but it doesn't seem to exist. In future, when you disagree with other users in good faith about the best version of an article, it's important to stop and discuss the problem and solve it - don't just try to get your preferred version into the encyclopedia by repeatedly adding it without discussion. It is possible that you are right. It is possible that you are wrong. Since there is no discussion for me to read, I don't know. When the block expires, don't make this edit until after you've had a reasonable conversation on the talk page about it. You are sure that you're right- the people who disagree are just as certain that they are correct. Only discussion can resolve the problem. If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
