Betty Blue Eyes

You removed a summary i never added at Betty Blue Eyes also you haven't said where it is a copyvio of which you should of, especially since there isnt a source there to indicate what it might of been of.Blethering Scot 17:11, 25 September 2013 (UTC)

Reply at Did You Know as i am not contesting removal i actually agree. However you really should say what its a copyvio of in summary or on article talk page. Too prove i never added it see i only moved its section location.Blethering Scot 17:44, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
Fair enough. It was a copyvio from multiple sources (what one would expect from a press release). If you search for a string of text from the synopsis it is easy enough to find. IronGargoyle (talk) 19:19, 25 September 2013 (UTC)

removed content

My original edit DID clearly explain why I removed content from the article on "Killing Season." I don't understand why people can't just read the edit history, where my reason was stated quite clearly. If people disagree or object to my reasoning, that's fine and I actually won't fight it, but "you didn't explain why you removed it" is just objectively wrong. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.83.191.181 (talk) 20:03, 25 September 2013 (UTC)

You explained on your earlier edit, yes, but not on the one I reverted. Best, IronGargoyle (talk) 20:05, 25 September 2013 (UTC)

Hey IronGargoyle, my apology for the hostile tone of the above comment. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.83.191.181 (talk) 20:14, 25 September 2013 (UTC)

Not a problem. Things get frustrating and people make mistakes. IronGargoyle (talk) 20:21, 25 September 2013 (UTC)

Majdelyoun

Under construction icon

Hi. Thank you very much for the review of majdelyoun. I am philbous. Can you please remove the redirect from majdelyoun to Sidon District when I go and search under google for majdelyoun, you see it as a link; when you click on it, it redirects your to sidon district. Majdelyoun is a town within the Sidon District. It should not be redirected to any page. Please help me with this. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Philbous (talkcontribs)

You don't need to blank the page as a first step before creating a page from a redirect. Just create the page from the redirect. Redirects are generally useful, and it's rare that one should ever be outright blanked. I see you've already created the page though, so I will leave things as-is for now. Bonkers & Nigg*rs DYK

Just an FYI, but ☯ Bonkers The Clown has been indefinitely blocked, partially for articles like this that were promoted in DYK. The "community" in AN had a very different understanding of his fondness for the N-word. This particular article is also involved in a heated AfD discussion. So, yeah, there was some backlash. Liz 17:00, 26 September 2013 (UTC)

...and he was unblocked shortly thereafter. I don't think a block was out of line, given his trolling and/or general obtuseness through the course of numerous discussions (although the length certainly seemed unreasonable). I know about the AfD because I participated in it. In my opinion, the problem was his behavior during the discussions, not his creation of the article itself. When you raised concerns about the article on the nomination I politely suggested the possibility of opening a thread at WT:DYK to get wider input (which you declined to do). I'm not understanding the "I-told-you-so" vibe you're giving off. Sorry. IronGargoyle (talk) 17:11, 26 September 2013 (UTC)
I'm sorry for the vibe and I didn't know Bonkers had been unblocked today. I see that the conditions of his unblocking are that he not work on articles similar to Niggers in the White House.
I do think my concern about the title and topic were dismissed in that DYK discussion and this post to you was not a "A-ha!" but just a post conveying the hope that when an Editor offers the opinion that a DYK nomination is offensive, that it will be considered to be a valid concern and that the visibility of a DYK placement for such an article might lead to a backlash. This is not about censorship, it's about the power of words and the power of Misplaced Pages's main page.
No need to apologize to me. I raised my concern, I brought it to your attention. I'm not a regular at the DYK area so I won't be opening a thread as I don't think similar articles will be proposed as DYKs or FAs. Again, my apologies for the "tone" of my remarks. I really meant this exchange to be informative, not provocative. Liz 17:25, 26 September 2013 (UTC)
No worries. I'm sorry you thought I was being dismissive. While I didn't agree with you completely, if I thought your concerns were without merit I wouldn't have raised the possibility of a wider discussion. To a certain extent you were right about the controversy, but I doubt that the controversy would have been nearly so intense if Bonkers wasn't being, well, Bonkers. Vandalism by User 64.30.242.253

Hi IronGargoyle. This is just to inform you that the IP user 64.30.242.253 has, after your last warning to them, vandalized another article on the writer, Nicholas Sparks 1st published book. I know that you had warned them previously for vandalism, so I am just apprising you of the vandalism that they did after that warning. Regards, Steve. DYK for Bandit (Yomiuriland)

Updated DYK queryOn 28 September 2013, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Bandit (Yomiuriland), which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Bandit, formerly the world's fastest roller coaster, races by hundreds of blossoming cherry trees and is called the fastest "flower viewing" in the world? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Bandit (Yomiuriland). You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Trillion Dollar Coin

Do not touch ANYTHING that I edit on the Trillion dollar coin page. We are the school of thought that PUSHED the trillion dollar coin and the reason the wikipedia page for it exists at all (due to us pushing it and getting it popularized). I was surprised to see that some idiot and not someone associated with us wrote the part on inflation, which was completely wrong and actually talked about QE instead of the coin, which is simply ridiculous. And you want to revert to that? Come on now, why don't you actually stick to the things you actually understand, and leave the rest to us PhDs. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DaRkJaWs (talkcontribs) 21:23, 1 October 2013 (UTC)

So, let's get this straight: Not only are you removing other reliable sources and replacing them with an unencyclopedic-toned paragraph sourced only to an unreliable source (a blog), but you are also admitting that you have a conflict of interest in the matter (pushing your own theory). Also, by telling other people not to touch anything your actions are in clear violation of Misplaced Pages's policy on article ownership. Plus, you're edit-warring. Sheesh. IronGargoyle (talk) 21:29, 1 October 2013 (UTC)

They are not "reliable sources". The content you are defending doesn't even talk about the inflationary effects of the Coin. It talks about the inflationary effects of QE. If you don't know the difference, then maybe you should leave it to an expert to decide. As I told you elsewhere, I'm an ABD PhD candidate at UMKC, and if anyone would know about the mechanics of the coin, it's those of us associated with UMKC. There is no conflict of interest, the conflict is about facts. Why don't you actually read the content you're defending instead of consistently blocking my attempts at fixing what are huge factual errors? I'm not the one edit-warring, you are. You have no way to ascertain whether an article is "dubious" or not unless you actually did some research. Did you bother to look up Joe Firestone, the author of the article I linked to? Did you see what other articles he's written on the Platinum coin option? I didn't think so. Why don't you do that before you start problems. DaRkJaWs (talk) 22:41, 1 October 2013 (UTC)

Please see my reply on the article talk page. IronGargoyle (talk) 23:49, 1 October 2013 (UTC)

Encyclopedia Dramatica

There are many complaints about encyclopedia dramatica, and I would like to know why you would deem links to the site hosting their domain and links to more info on the site to be "inappropriate." — Preceding unsigned comment added by There is no joseph evers (talkcontribs) 20:45, 2 October 2013 (UTC)

There are indeed many complaints about Encyclopedia Dramatica, but please see Misplaced Pages's policy on external links to avoid. The website you linked to does not relate directly to the subject of the article (Encyclopedia Dramatica) and it is only there to promote a particular cause (complaints about said website). Moringa

Hi, you removed my edit, with the following message:

"User talk:132.248.13.5 October 2013

Hello, I'm IronGargoyle. I wanted to let you know that I removed an external link you added to the page Moringa because it seemed inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thanks. IronGargoyle (talk) 20:25, 2 October 2013 (UTC)"

I am an academic and the world authority on the Moringa family Moringaceae (I'm the only specialist :), so it isn't hard). Please see my publications at http://www.moringaceae.org/moringa-publications.html

and my Moringa Home Page at http://www.explorelifeonearth.org/moringahome.html

My new moringaceae.org blog is designed to answer numerous questions that I receive daily regarding moringa, and is designed to be an authoritative source of information regarding the family. Such a resource is currently lacking, even from Misplaced Pages, because of the enormous volume of either uniformed and well meaning users uploading erroneous information, e.g. on the distribution of Moringa oleifera, or because of the intentional uploading of misleading or unproved information on the part of vendors.

Thanks and best wishes

Alright. The websites have spammy-sounding titles, but they seem to supply a reasonable amount of scholarly information beyond what is included in the article. They should be ok then. Best, IronGargoyle (talk) 01:04, 5 October 2013 (UTC)
Hi,

I have added the links back as well as a cite. I wonder about the link

http://www.miracletrees.org/

because, while it does have links to some useful primary information, there is a lot of hype on it and it is essentially a commercial site (with ripped off images from my site!).187.195.53.130 (talk) 16:18, 6 October 2013 (UTC)

Grant Balfour

IronGargoyle, I hope that I am responding in the right section. No one has ever contacted me about my editing before. This has to do with the Grant Balfour article, which I felt was opinionated in spots. One of the things that I did was change "He acts like a baby" to something like "He has a reputation for acting out..." I just changed it to remove the bias. I am not an A's fan and not a fan of his, but if I see something like that I change it. Opinion articles should be saved for blogs. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.65.124.68 (talk) 16:48, 8 October 2013 (UTC)

It was still a somewhat dubious change compared to an earlier edit, but I do see your edit was certainly an improvement on the one that came immediately before. Sorry about that. IronGargoyle (talk) 23:14, 9 October 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for the Barnstar! My earlier message was just addressed at the fact that you shouldn't be adding information about yourself to the articles. I pointed out that you were making inappropriate additions to Misplaced Pages articles like Tim McGraw, but you seem to have stopped doing that now, which is great. Is there something else you need help with? I see from the history of your contributions that you've now created a user sandbox. why I deleted the last section about Chang'e 3 mission

I deleted the section below

"The descent of the Chang'e 3 spacecraft is expected to increase the content of lunar dust in the tenuous lunar exosphere, as well as introduce gases from engine firings during landing. This provides an opportunity for the Lunar Atmosphere and Dust Environment Explorer (LADEE) mission to examine possible changes to the baseline readings of the Moon's exosphere and could allow it to study how dust and spent propellant gases settle around the Moon after a landing. For example, one of the combustion byproducts will be water vapor, and LADEE may be able to observe how lunar water is deposited in cold traps near the poles."

because the Chang'e 3 descent hasn't started yet.The possible consequences mentioned in the section are just personal views by some academics. They're not proved facts and these consequences haven't been verified. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mentor of mankind (talkcontribs) 15:36, 10 December 2013 (UTC)

That section notes a scientific hypothesis that will be tested. There is nothing wrong with its mention in Misplaced Pages. CHeers, BatteryIncluded (talk) 19:22, 10 December 2013 (UTC)
I agree with BatteryIncluded. I do appreciate the explanation though. Best, IronGargoyle (talk) 20:53, 10 December 2013 (UTC)

As you seem to be affiliated with the development of this concept, you should wait for the the concept to become notable on its own. When this occurs, someone else will likely add the article to Misplaced Pages themselves. Misplaced Pages is not the place for promoting your own inventions and theories. You may want to read over Misplaced Pages's guidelines on conflicts of interest. Best, IronGargoyle (talk) 12:56, 11 December 2013 (UTC)

You should generally avoid editing articles on your own organization, as doing so often violates Misplaced Pages's guidelines on conflicts of interest. The specific reason I reverted your edits was that you were adding an excessive number of links which seemed to be purely promotional in nature. You may want to also review which types of external links are appropriate for adding to Misplaced Pages. Best, IronGargoyle (talk) 02:06, 29 December 2013 (UTC)

The relevant policy to this issue would be Misplaced Pages:BLPPRIMARY. I think it is inappropriate because the fact is sourced to the episode itself. Nicola Majocchi

Hello IronGargoyle, I'm trying to find out why my article/page was deleted. All info are totally legitimate. Earlier today I tried to correct my last name as it was spelled with a lower "m" instead of a capital letter "M" and perhaps my efforts to rectify that created some confusions and raised a red flag? Would you please be kind to let me know why you deleted me and if it is anyway possible to correct the last name to Majocchi?/ (instead of majocchi). With many thanks, Nicola Majocchi — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nmajocchi (talkcontribs) 22:37, 8 January 2014 (UTC)

The article's deletion had nothing to do with the capitalization. It was deleted because the article was completely promotional in tone. Such articles violate Misplaced Pages's policy on neutral point of view. I should also note that autobiographies are strongly discouraged in general. Hello Iron Gargoyle, the reason I made those "edits" is because those pages were not showing the changes made on the roster templates (roster moves), so, by erasing and then readding the templates, they rebooted now with the changes. Like turning off and on a computer. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 187.252.103.226 (talk) 00:28, 9 January 2014 (UTC)

That makes sense. I think there are other ways to clear the browser cache than doing that though (e.g., hold shift while you click reload). I was just confused because you changed one template to the template of another team. Best, IronGargoyle (talk) 02:05, 9 January 2014 (UTC)

Warning was not meant for you, We both edited the same time, you were a bit faster. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bentogoa (talkcontribs)

No problem. I wonder why it went automatically to the "only warning" level. That's weird. IronGargoyle (talk) 13:34, 9 January 2014 (UTC)

You have removed an external link.

Just 2 mins ago, I've added an external link to the page Child_care, which is legit for child care information. Can you tell why its inappropriate? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 111.91.24.199 (talk) 15:33, 9 January 2014 (UTC)

Because it was primarily commercial in nature (it was selling diapers). This page describes some of the external link types that should normally be avoided. There link also failed several other criteria on this list as well. Best, IronGargoyle (talk) 15:38, 9 January 2014 (UTC)

For some reason

(coincidence, or . . . ...... something else?) you have showed up on my watchlist a bunch this morning, most notably at the Toll Brothers. I was the one who ( I think) originally discovered the legal threat and I chose to remove the logo and then posted something about it and it was picked up by more knowledgeable folks such as yourself who really dealt with it. Thank you for doing so. Einar aka Carptrash (talk) 16:22, 9 January 2014 (UTC)

I did a fair amount of vandal-fighting this morning, and the amount of vandalism seemed higher than normal. That's probably why. No idea what was going on with the Toll Brothers article though. Very strange. IronGargoyle (talk) 18:58, 9 January 2014 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

The Anti-Vandalism Barnstar
It's often frustrating having to deal with the seemingly endless supply of vandals, but it's people like you that keep the project moving forward without any hesitation. Thank you for all your efforts :) — MusikAnimal 19:05, 9 January 2014 (UTC)
