- 420 – A significant number relating to the entire marijuana culture (see main article). 4:20 is a significant time for marijuana users, as is the day April 20, as it is written 4/20 in some countries.

- Annie – Social user of marijuana
- Alligator – Also called a 'gator or a roach clip, a small apparatus to hold the roach or butt of a joint/blunt to keep fingers safe as the joint shrinks
- Answering the Green Phone - Smoking dope.
- Ash – The dry, burnt remains of marijuana OR To knock the end ash off of a joint (marijuana cigarette)
- Auto-pipe – An electric pipe.
B
- B – Abbreviation of blunt, a hollowed-out cigar stuffed with marijuana
- Bake – To smoke marijuana
- Baked – Intoxicated from marijuana use
- Baptisted; Preparing to smoke marijuana
- Bat – A small, tubular, often slightly funnel-shaped device used for smoking
- Bean – A marijuana seed
- Beasters – Commercial, sometimes good quality, marijuana thought to have originated in British Columbia (BC)
- Benz - £10 bag worth of marijuana.
- Beat – A bowl that is finished.
- Bhang – Derivative of the leaf and flower of a female cannabis plant.
- Big Mac – A marijuana cigarette rolled encompasing another previosly rolled joint with the end result being a joint inside of a joint.
- Blankets – Marijuana nuggets
- Blanking – To smoke marijuana
- Blaze – To smoke marijuana
- Blazed – Very intoxicated on marijuana
- Blizzatz- When you are at the peak of your high and cannot possibly smoke anymore.
- Blottoed – Intoxicated from marijuana use
- Blow - To smoke marijuana
- Blowed - Extremely intoxicated from marijuana use
- Blowie - See Hello Neighbor
- Blunt – A smoking preparation consisting of hollowed-out cigar or tobacco leaf blunt-wrap filled with marijuana. Often holds more of the drug than a joint and is somewhat disguised as a legal tobacco cigar
- Blozzed – See blazed.
- Bogart – To keep a joint or bowl to oneself while in a smoking circle.
- Boge time – The time after blazing where a cigarette is absolutely required
- Bomb – Cannabis buds, usually of high quality
- Bong – A pipe in which marijuana smoke is filtered through water at least once. Sometimes large and capable of delivering large amounts of smoke.
- Borton; a legendary bong . Said to have be kept in the Cavan forests of Ontario Canada , by none other than Mongo
- Boutros – The act of smoking marijuana (Ex. "Hey Jazz, you want to boutros afterschool?"). Originating from Kitchener, ON, Canada.
- Bowl – 1. The concave, funnel-shaped space in a pipe, bong, or other device where marijuana is packed to be burned. May or may not be attached to smoking device 2. A pipe used to smoke marijuana 3. To smoke marijuana. 4. An amount of marijuana equal to the amount that may fit in the bowl of a pipe.
- Bowl piece – Portion of smoking paraphernalia that is packed with marijuana; this can usually be detached from the rest of the paraphernalia
- Bowling – To smoke marijuna. Used in discreet situations. Ex: "You want to go bowling after work? I'm hoping to get a 420!"
- Box – Abbreviation of Hot box
- Brick – A large amount of marijuana (usually shaped like a "brick") OR slang for nonpotent, low quality marijuana.
- Brown frown – aka "Bobby Brown frown," A low grade quality of marijuana, often with a brown tint
- BT; Abbreviation of Bong Toke, commonly used when attempting to be discreet.
- Bubbler – A small, handheld, water-filtered pipe
- Bud – Marijuana OR The flowering stalks of the marijuana plant; it contains the most THC in the plant, and hence the most commonly-smoked portion of the plant
- Bud butter – See Cannabutter
- Buddha – Marijuana
- Bukket - An innovative commercial or home made waterless, portable 'gravity' bong, resembling an accordion. The bukket actually makes no use of gravity.
- Burn – To smoke marijuana.
- Buzzing - very energetic high of marijuana.
- Bobby Brown - Brown colored & low quality marijuanna.

- C-Chill – A proprietor of high quality marijuana
cash money millionaired: when a bowl no longer has any marijuana left to be smoked
- Cannabutter – Dairy butter that has been infused fat-soluble THC and other cannabinoids, used for baking and other cooking
- Cannabis - The original name for Marijuana.
- Carb – A hole in a pipe or bong which is covered with a finger initially, and is released at the end of a hit to clear the space of smoke.
- Cashed – An entirely smoked bowl OR Intoxicated from marijuana use
- Cessa – Grinded marijuna combined with tobacco; smoked from a water pipe, unlike spliffs which are smoked using a "blunt" or joint papers.
- Cheeched – Intoxicated from marijuana use; derived from the name of actor Cheech Marin
- Cherried – Marijuana that is smoldering and continuing to burn after a hit in a bowl is said to be cherried.
- Chiefing – To smoke Marijuana or when with a group of users to not pass the blunt/joint and use it only for yourself.
- Chillum – A small, slightly funnel shaped device used for smoking.
- Choke – A hole in the side of a bong used to clear its chamber of smoke, synonym of Carb
- Chronic – Marijuana laced with Cocaine
- Chocked – When the chamber of a bong is filled with smoke
- Commerch or merch – (pronounced 'mersh') Low-grade, commercially-grown marijuana
- Cone – A marijuana cigarette rolled so that it is tapered, wider at the lit end and smaller at the end that is smoked.
- Corner; "cornering" a bowl is to spark only a portion of the greens in a bowl, so as to leave a green hit for the next person in the rotation.
- Cosmic brownies – Brownies with marijuana baked into them
- Courtesy Clear- When someone is overwhelmed by a bong hit and must pass the bong to a fellow smoker in order to clear the remaining smoke in the bong chamber. See Smitten
- Clam bake – see "hot box"
- Creeper – Marijuana whose effects are not initially noticed by the user
- Crutch – A small, rolled piece of card board, card stock, etc. placed in the unlit end of a marijuana cigarette to help it hold shape and prevent bits of marijuana or ash from being sucked through. Also called a filter or a tip.
- Cut (Cutty) – A place to smoke marijuana out of public view and considered well hidden or "shady." Cutty refers to a thing or action having these qualities. For instance, quickly hiding a pipe when police are spotted is "cutty." (Note: This is San Francisco Bay Area specific, primarily Marin County)
D
- Dank – Descriptor of potent marijuana, often pungent and sticky with resin
- Dank nugs; Potent marijuana; short for Nuggets
- Dead – when a bowl, joint, etc. is finished
- Dimebag or dime sack or dime – Ten US dollars' worth of marijuana
- Digi – slang for digital scale
- Dirt – Low quality marijuana
- Doneski; commonly used term in describing mental and physical status following maximum possible marijuana/alcohol consumption.
- Doobie – A marijuana cigarette
- Doobie Snack - Bits of ash which are inhaled when a pipe is cashed. See also Pull Through.
- Dope – Marijuana; may be used to refer to many illicit drugs, often opium or heroin.
- Double Barrel – Two marijuana cigarettes joined side-by-side using the gums of rolling papers, therefore resembling a double-barreled shotgun.
- Downtown Dirty Brown – Low-quality, brown-looking cannabis.
- Drigh – Being drunk and high at the same time (pronounced 'dry')
- Dro – Slang for hydroponically-grown marijuana (Hydro)
- Dub sack – Twenty dollars worth of marijuana in a plastic bag
- Dub-Bub – Slang for double bubbler, a pipe which bubbles the smoke through two separate water chambers. Also tripple bubbler, etc.
- Dug out – Paraphernalia used to store a "hitter"; synonymous with "hitter box"
- Duvet bag – Press seal bags that marijuana comes in sometimes.

- Elbow – One pound of marijuana (from abbreviation lb.)
- Electric Pipe – A pipe with an electric internal fan that provides suction. Also known as an Electric Vacuum Cleaner Pipe.
- Endo – High quality marijuana
F
- Faded – Intoxicated from marijuana
- Fatty – A large (fat) joint
- Fifteen – A $15 bag of marijuana
- Filter – See Crutch
- Fish-bowl – The act of filling an enclosed area with marijuana smoke OR The name of such an environment
- Freshies – See Greens
- Fruity – Marijuana and cocaine mixed together into a cigarette.
- Fried – Extremely intoxicated on marijuana.
G
- G-13 or G13 – A legendary strain of extremely potent marijuana supposedly developed by the US Government. Rumor has it that a single clipping was stolen from a lab in the 1970's, and true descendants of the strain are available today. Sometimes called 'Mr. Nice'
- Gage – Marijuana
- Ganga or Ganja or Ganj – Marijuana; sometimes refers to marijuana that emits a strong pungent odor
- Gator – see Alligator
- Geeked – A period during or after a marijuana-smoking session in which a person experiences a hysterical fit of laughter.
- Ghost -- To hold a hit of marijuana smoke in your lungs until it has completely disappeared by the time you exhale.
- Glass – Smoking paraphernalia made from glass
- Glass screen – A small, often flower-shaped glass bead placed in the mouth of a bowl to act as a screen, preventing marijuana from 'pulling through.' Thought of as a cleaner alternative to metal screens
- Go Towards – To get high
- Goober - Another term for a gravity bong
- Gravity bong – A homemade smoking device that uses the wieght of water to decrease air pressure and draw air and smoke through an opening and past burning marijuana, capable of creating large amounts of smoke
- Grass – Marijuana
- Green – Marijuana
- Greenies – Intoxicated by marijuana and alcohol simultaneously
- Greens – The first hit off of a freshly-packed bowl, or subsequent hits when green, unburnt material remains
- Grinder – A round device used for grinding marijuana, consisting of at least two parts rotated against each other, grinding with circles of 'teeth' inside. May include other chambers, such as a trichome filter
- Groove Tube- See "Hello Neighbor"
H
- Half : Marijuana mesurement either half-quarter,half-ouceor half-pound.
- Half-Baked – Term referring to when being only partially intoxicated by Marijuana
- Half-moon – to only burn half of the bowl during a greens hit, often resulting in a cresent shaped burn, and 2 great green hits.
- Hash brownies – see (Pot brownies)
- Hashish or hash – The processed trichomes and resin from the flowering stalks of the marijuana plant. Often heated and compressed for durability, stability, and transportation (see article)
- Head Shop – Place to buy tobacco/marijuana smoking devices
- Head Stash – Portion of marijuana set aside for personal use rather than distribution
- Headies – Very potent marijuana, often cut from a named strain, i.e. Jack Herer, White Widow, Northern Lights, etc. Call Bubbat for this stuff.
- Hello Neighbor – A tube made from used toilet paper roll then implanted with dryer sheets and/or toilet paper, and then filled with smoke from a user who must avoid detection. A water bottle can be used in place of a toilet paper roll. Also see Groove Tube, Defibulator, Spoof, and Greg Tube.
- Henry – abbreviation of Henry the Eighth, i.e. 1/8th of an ounce of marijuana
- Herb – Marijuana;
- Herb grinder – See Grinder
- High – Intoxicated from marijuana use; may describe a more 'heady,' cerebral, and "up," intoxication
- Hit – A single inhalation of marijuana smoke
- Hitter – Smoking paraphernalia which packs only enough marijuana for a small number of "hits" of smoke
- Hitter box – Paraphrenalia used to store a hitter; synonymous with "dug out"
- Hogleg – A very fat joint or blunt filled with marijuana
- Hork – To cough up fluid after smoking marijuana; or the fluid that is coughed up.
- Hot box – The act of smoking marijuana in a confined area, such as a car, or bathroom (optionally with hot water running from the shower) so that the ambient smoke level increases absorption time and intoxication; synonymous with "clam bake" and "to bake out"
- Hot Lunch – Sucking in an ash while taking a hit out of a bowl
- Hydro – Hydroponically-grown marijuana, often assumed to be potent

- Indica – Short for Cannabis indica, one of three cannabis species. C. indica is a short, thick, bushy plant with wide, dark leaves. Generally, it gives a more stoned, sedated, thoughtful, body high
- Indian – A ritual in which a group of users share a marijuana cigarette, each taking a single drag before passing it to the next person (also See Marathon)
J
- J or Jay – Slang for Joint
- Jibba – Slang for a hand-rolled marijuana cigarette, commmonly used in the state of Maine
- Joint – A hand-rolled marijuana cigarette
- Jonesing; another word for craving marijuana.
- Jefferson Airplane – slang for a used match bent to hold a marijuana cigarette that has been smoked too short to hold without burning the hands. (The customary name for a device used to do this is roach clip)
- Johnny Cashed; Term used for when the bowl is done (or "cashed") and props to a legend.
- Joy Stick – Slang for Joint
- J-Freezee : Person who consistently has a joint on hand.
K
- KB – Kind bud
- Kicked – the bowl is cashed, see above
- Kief or kif – The collected crystals of marijuana resin called trichomes found on the surface of marijuana leaves and buds. The trichomes contain high quantities of THC, and are often crumbled onto a packed bowl. Also may be subsequently processed into hashish (hash).
- Kief box – A marijuana storage box specifically designed so the marijuana rests on a fine screen, allowing trichomes to fall through to a lower chamber, often lined with removable plastic or glass, which collects them for kief or hashish.
- Kind bud or Kine bud – Potent marijuana, sometimes synonymous with Sensimilla
- King skins – King size rolling papers
- Knife hits or Knifers – Heating the tips of two knives to a red hot temperature and pressing a bud of marijuana between them. The resulting smoke can be inhaled straight from the knives, or through some type of tube. See Knifers
- Kona Gold. Potent strain grown near the Kona Coast area of the Big Island of Hawaii, Hawaii
- Knitting a Green Sweater : Smoking of Marijuana.
L
- L – Slang for a blunt. Also, a term used for a marijuana cigarette rolled using two papers. One paper is glued to the end of another, creating an "L" shaped paper. This results in a slightly longer and sturdier spliff or joint. The second paper sticking up may also be angled slightly to aid in rolling a "cone" shaped marijuana cigarette.
- LB – One pound of marijuana meant for personal consumption.
- Le Tigra – The most intricate spoon for smoking
- Leary biscuit – A tasty and easy marijuana preparation consisting of heated cheese and marijuana on a cracker, sometimes with another cracker on top. The fat-soluble THC dissolves into the oil in the cheese
- Louis – Abbreviation of Louis the Sixteenth, 1/16th of an ounce of marijuana

- Marathon OR Mexican Sweat – A ritual in which a group of users share a marijuana cigarette, each taking a single drag before passing it to the next person (also known as an Indian)
- Mary Jane – Marijuana
- Merch or mersh – See Commerch
- Middies or mids – A term used loosely to describe average marijuana
- Movies – Marijuana
- Moocher – A person that never supplies and pays for the weed but will be there to smoke yours
- Munchies – Strong feelings of hunger that often occur after smoking. Some varieties are more likely to cause this unique side-effect

- Nick – Five US dollars' worth of marijuana
- Nickel – Five US dollars' worth of marijuana
- Nug – Marijuana
- Nugs or nuggets – Marijuana of generally higher quality; nuggets are broken-off pieces of the buds, usually trimmed into neat "nuggets"
- Neebee - Marijuana
O
- Onion – Another slang word for an ounce of marijuana
- Oregon Bud – A slang term for generally high quality marijuana
- Oscar – Another slang word for an ounce of marijuana
- Overtoke – Severe coughing that may occur when marijuana is smoked too heavily. Often followed by a headache.
P
- Pack – To place marijuana into the bowl of a piece of smoking paraphernalia
- Pang- High grade marijuana
- Papers – little papers used to roll a joint (Ex. Zig Zags)
- Personal- hogging marijuana all to yourself and not passing so your the only person that gets taosted
- Persy – An amount of marijuana kept specifically for yourself
- Pie- To share the green hit by burning a portion of the bowl like a piece of pie. Also called cornering.
- Piece: Slang for marijuana pipe.
- Pine - Marijuana
- Pining - Smoking Marijuana
- Pinner – A small marijuana cigarette
- Pizza - Marijuana
- Playing baseball – The act of inhaling marijuana smoke, then blowing the smoke into another's mouth (a "shottie" or "shotgun"); the recipient then blows the remaining smoke into another's mouth, and so on
- Polar Eclipse- high quality strain of cannabis
- Pot – Marijuana
- Pot brownie – A brownie containing marijuana
- Pot butter – Butter that has been cooked with marijuana to infuse it with psychoative THC. The key precursor ingredient to many marijuana baked goods
- Pot head or pothead – a frequent marijuana user, synonymous with Stoner. Usually of a negative connotation, as opposed to Stoner.
- Pregnant – Describes a marijuana cigarette that is larger in the center than at either end
- Premo – Marijuana with cocaine sprinkled onto it
- Puff Puff Pass – A biathlon. A group of users share a marijuana cigarette, each taking two drags before passing it to the next person. Also used as a phrase encouraging another user to pass quickly.
- Pull A Farley – Passing a pipe but keeping the lighter to light a cigarette, requiring an additional pass
- Pull through – When ash or burning marijuana is literally pulled through the bottom of the bowl during a hit; a key advantage of a bong or bubbler is that the water keeps this burnt material from reaching the mouth
- Purple – A joint that emits a purplish smoke, or fog
- Purple haze – A famous, potent strain of marijuana made famous by the Jimi Hendrix song of the same name
- Purp - Another name for purple haze.

- Q – A quarter of an ounce of marijuana.
- Quarter – A quarter ounce of marijuana (7.1 grams)
- QP or quap or Q-per – A quarter pound of marijuana
- Quenz – A quarter of an ounce and a benz (£10 worth) of marijuana
R
- Reefer – Marijuana OR a joint
- Recess – Taking a break from class to smoke up
- Regs – Low grade marijuana; stands for "regular"
- Res – (Pronounced 'rez') Slang for Resin
- Resin – The sticky residue of a THC-rich trichomes from potent marijuana used to make hash OR The sticky tar residue left on a pipe from smoking marijuana
- Resin hit – An inhalation of the smoke from burning resin, the dark tar that accumulates in pipes and bongs through use. May be taken straight from a dirty bowl, or scraped out, collected, and smoked
- Rip – A single inhalation of marijuana smoke, usually from a bong
- Ripped – Intoxicated from marijuana
- Roach – The butt of a marijuana cigarette
- Roach clip – A small object, usually metal, used to hold the butt of a marijuana cigarette such that it can still be smoked without burning the user's fingers
- Roll – To construct a marijuana cigarette
- Rollies – Rolling paper

- Sach – A Canadian who smokes pot
- Sack – A bag of marijuana
- Saclunch - Smoking Marijuana during lunch break; at St. Andrews College
- Sativa – Short for Cannabis sativa, one of three cannabis species. Originating in Asia, C. sativa is a tall, lanky plant with slender leaves. Generally, it gives a more cerebral, trippy, energetic, head high
- Schwag – Nonpotent marijuana
- Score – To purchase from a dealer
- Scooby Doo – Good marijuana. First heard on Da Ali G Show
- Scooby Snacks and or Scoobies – When the ash is sucked through the pipe into the users mouth
- Secret agent – A a joint rolled in an emptied cigarette so as to disguise it
- Session – An extended period of smoking marijuana, generally in a social situation
- Shake – Small bits of marijuana plant material that have broken apart during handling
- Shell – A cigar or other type of wrap which is rolled into a blunt.
- Sherlock – A type of pipe that is shaped like a classic 'drooping' tobacco pipe. A reference to the pipe of character Sherlock Holmes
- Shotgun – The act of inverting a marijuana cigarette/blunt into one's mouth and blowing marijuana smoke into another's mouth
- Shottie – Abbreviation of shotgun
- Sidecar – A marijuana pipe with a bowl piece offset to one side, often a variation of a bubbler
- Silly – Variety of marijuana-induced intoxication in which the user finds any and everything hilarious
- Skunk weed – Potent, aromatic marijuana
- Slice – An eighth of an ounce of marijuana
- Slide – Portion of a bong used to both pack marijuana into the bowl and to clear the chamber of its smoke
- Smitten- Act of extreme coughing after rigorous bong hitting, in which the subject is rendered speechless and extremely high.
- Smoke eater – see (Zoob)
- Smoke'n a Pancake – smoking a joint
- Snack Pack – sometimes rephrased as 'packing that snack'
- Snap; when the last hit "snaps" through the hole
- Snow Cap – Marijuana with cocaine sprinkled onto it
- Space brownies – Brownies with marijuana baked into them
- Spark – To light a marijuana cigarette or piece of paraphernalia, or to smoke marijuana
- Spent – See Cashed
- Spliff – A marijuana cigarette that contains some tobacco; also a generic term for a marijuana cigarette
- Spoon – A type of marijuana pipe, usually made from glass; given its name from its shape
- Stash – One's supply of marijuana
- Stash box – A container or compartment used to store marijuana, may be disguised as a common household item
- Steamroller – A simple type of pipe that is open at both ends, used by covering one end closest to the bowl during the hit. Named for its resemblance to the cylindrical front wheel of the vehicle, though many pipes are more complex than a simple tube
- Stoned – Intoxicated from marijuana use; may refer to a more body-oriented, mellow, and heavy intoxication
- Stoner – A frequent user of marijuana OR The name of the general marijuana subculture. Is usually used in a positve fashion, as opposed to Pothead.
- Super – Blowing marijuana smoke into another's mouth
- Super – A prefix sometimes given to a more potent strain of marijuana, i.e. Super Silver Haze, Super Girl, Super Skunk, etc.
- Super Tulip – A rolling paper is shaped into a cone, and marijuana is placed inside, and unlike the regular tulip, there is a joint in place of the hollow tube of paper. The desired end result is a tulip shape.
- Smay To Your Dome Piece – slang term for smoking marijuana. smay=smoke, dome piece= head.
T
- Taxi – A ritual where the smoker holds his breath till the joint has been passed around the circle and returned to him. Also called Tennis.

- Tea – Marijuana (Now antiquated, a term describing the drug used during the early and mid 20th century. William S. Burroughs described marijuana users in his novel Junkie as "Teaheads")
- Teener – A 16th of an ounce of cannabis.
- Ten bag – £10 worth of marijuana (1.8 grams)
- Texas tea – Marijuana
- THC – Short for Tetrahydrocannabinol, the main psychoative ingredient in marijuana
- Toasted- too fucking stoned to be stoned
- Toke – One puff of a marijuana cigarette OR To smoke marijuana
- Toothpick Spliff - Joint packed so tightly to be as thin as a toothpick.
- Tree – A slang term for marijuana
- Triathlon – A ritual in which a group of users share a marijuana cigarette, each taking two drags before passing it to the next person
- Tulip – A rolling paper is shaped into a cone, and marijuana is placed inside and wrapped around a hollow paper tube. The end result is a tulip shape 1
- Turds; slang for marijuana.
- Turtle – A person who smokes marijuana in order to fit in with a certain crowd, person is often abused by other marijuana users, person is often ripped off by marijuana users and dealers.
- Twenty – A $20 bag of marijuana
- Twomp – A $20 bag of marijuana

- Vaporizer – A smoking device which heats the marijuana below the point of combustion to extract the active ingredients as a vapor, delivering the drug in a much healthier form than smoking
- Viper – a colloquial term used in the jazz subculture for a marijuana user.
W
- Wacky tobaccy – Marijuana
- Wake-n-bake – Smoking very soon after waking up, ie. before the morning grogginess has passed
- Waterfall bong – A smoking device consisting of a chamber of water with a hole at the bottom and a removable bowl on top. Hole is released, pulling air past the bowl, filling the space with smoke. Easy with a water bottle, but must be refilled.
- Wraps – Rolling papers
- Weed – Marijuana
- Windmill – A way of smoking; e.g. two toke windmill. Take two tokes of the joint and don't breath out the smoke until the joint returns to you

- Xylophone breath – a term commonly used for the smell of one's breath after smoking large sums of marijuana and or crack cocaine.

- Yerba – herb

- Z or zip or zone – An ounce of marijuana, derived from the 'z' in the abbreviation for ounce, 'Oz.'
- Z-Gress – The process of becoming so intoxicated that you cry blood. An urban legend.
- Zam-Zam – Colloquial term for marijuana originating from Kitchener, ON, Canada
- Zine – (Visine, pronounced 'Zeen') Drops applied to eyes to remove redness after consuming marijuana
- Zoinked – Peak high, to the point where you cannot possibly get any higher.
- Zong – A type of bong with a Z-shaped crook in the stem, effectively eliminates bong water spray in stout bongs
- Zoob or Zube Tube – A device constructed out of some sort of tube (empty plasic bottles, empty paper towel rolls) with both ends open and dryer sheets stuffed in. Smoke is blown through this tube in order to hide the odor from smoking marijuana.
