Disambiguation link notification for October 23
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Misplaced Pages appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Tony Kelly (footballer born 1966), you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Enfield, Paul Harding and Woodlands Secondary School (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Question
Then please answer the question that I have put to you on three separate occasions. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Huddersfieldtown5 (talk • contribs) 19:32, 27 November 2013 (UTC)
- This question seems perfectly reasonable. Why can't it be answered? Is there more to this? -- Mufka 19:41, 27 November 2013 (UTC)
He won't, because he realises that he's in the wrong and had absolutely no need to even touch the page. But all I get is silence from him. Huddersfieldtown5 (talk) 22:30, 27 November 2013 (UTC)
I don't even know what photo you are crying about.--Add92 (talk) 22:37, 27 November 2013 (UTC)
PAUL EVANS you deleted it for no reason, you had no reason to interfere with the page and you just deleted the photo for no reason, on two separate occasions. I've asked you 4 times now and no answer. Are you going to answer then? Huddersfieldtown5 (talk) 23:45, 27 November 2013 (UTC)
- Huddersfieldtown5, back it down a notch. Let's for the sake of good faith assume that Add92, with the tens of thousands of edits he has made, has forgotten specifically to which image you are referring. The only Paul Evens related image that I see that you contributed was deleted over 3 years ago. Please be more specific. Additionally, perhaps you are mistaken as this user does not have the ability to delete anything. Stop ranting about how many times you have asked for an answer to your ambiguous question and just engage in civil dialog. -- Mufka 00:12, 28 November 2013 (UTC)

PL league table
Hi.
Since I know you edit 2013–14 Stoke City F.C. season and have a special league table on that page I just wanted to let you know that we have a recent discussion at The Village Pump where the editors modified the sandbox of {{2013–14 Premier League table/sandbox}} to have a truncated transclusion of the table for use on the pages for the current season of all the teams. This has also been informed at WT:FOOTY to get people to join the discussion at village pump. This template is then supposed to be used on all of the season articles. QED237 (talk) 12:15, 12 December 2013 (UTC)
- If you feel table is out of date it could be the page is not purged so try a NULL EDIT or update the template instead of replacing it. QED237 (talk) 23:46, 29 January 2014 (UTC)
Administrator intervention against vandalism
Thanks for your report at Misplaced Pages:Administrator intervention against vandalism about disruptive editing of football articles by an IP editor. I have blocked the IP address you listed (2602:30A:2CA3:8290:81E8:1CD2:51A3:209C) for 2 days. Unfortunately, however, that is likely to be ineffective, as the editor keeps changing IP addresses, having used 17 addresses that I know of, maybe more. If IP version 4 were being used, I could easily block the range of IP addresses used, but the editor is using IP version 6, and so far as I know there is no provision for blocking a range of IPv6 addresses. The only other option, apart from just reverting each individual edit, is to semi-protect the articles affected. However, the editor has edited a large number of articles, and protecting every one of them is not an attractive proposition. The best I can suggest is that if you see more disruptive editing from the same editor, you let me know, stating exactly which articles are involved, and preferably giving diffs of some individual disruptive edits, so that I don't have to spend a lot of time searching to see what the problems are. I will then be willing to consider whether there is a case for protecting individual article. JamesBWatson (talk) 10:09, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
- I have now found that I was wrong. It is perfectly possible to block an IPv6 range, and I have blocked the range for 24 hours. If the problem returns after that, let me know, and I will consider a longer range block. JamesBWatson (talk) 10:26, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) I would consider putting semi on 2013–14 Premier League. This is one of the article this IP is editing and there are some disruptive editing there with IP's changing top goalscorers, league table and other stats to their own favourite player and/or team. QED237 (talk) 10:22, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
- I have blocked the range 2602:30a:2ca3:8290::/64, which, in case you don't know how IP ranges work, means all IP addresses beginning 2602:30a:2ca3:8290. If there is a significant amount of disruptive editing by IP addresses outside that range, give me a few diffs, and I will consider whether to semi-protect the article. JamesBWatson (talk) 10:31, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
- Yes I know how range block works, but when I wrote you said it was not possible. Now that this range block exist I dont think there is enough now to semi-protect the article but I have considered it for this page before and I will think about it. QED237 (talk) 10:37, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
- If you want diffs I can give you some that occurs every weekend (saturday and sunday) when matches are played. There are people who like Luis Suarez and people who dont . Others think Manchester United are best and have won everything with goaldifferential 41-0 . A few may not like the result of their team or something so they vandalize and others think they want to have fun with flags . These are just examples on what happens on a matchweek. Many edits are done on this article and a lot of them are good but some edits like the diffs are not very good and there are many "good faith edits" that destroys tables (this one from our IP friend). If that is enough for a semi-protection is hard to say. QED237 (talk) 11:32, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, I know only too well the kind of nonsense that goes on in football-related articles. Most of the time I don't touch them, for several reasons, including the fact that, except for really blatant vandalism, I often don't know enough to tell what edits are valid and what aren't. However, in a case like the present one, where there is one editor persistently being disruptive over a long period, I am willing to do what I can, provided that someone who knows more about football than I do can point me to some relevant edits. Basically this guy is anti 'Caretaker manager' and removes sourced material from Keith Downing, Tim Sherwood as well as main pages like List of Premier League managers, 2013–14 Premier League, List of English Football League managers.--Add92 (talk) 10:33, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, I see that. What a strange obsession. Another point concerning blocking the IP addresses is that, although IPv6 ranges can now be blocked (at one time they couldn't, and I didn't know it had been changed), there is still a problem with blocking large ranges for any significant amount of time. The problem is that, as far as I know, there is no way of checking the edit history of a whole range of IPv6 addresses, as there is with IPv4. That means that I have no way of knowing whether there are lots of good edits by other editors in the same range too. If I knew that nobody else was likely to be affected, I would be willing to consider a block for a much longer time. However, do let me know if (or I should probably say "when") the problem returns, and I will range-block again, at least for a short time. JamesBWatson (talk) 13:11, 18 December 2013 (UTC)

Hello. Was wondering if you still have access to the paywalled part of ENFA? If you have, I'd be very grateful if you could look something up for me. According to Joyce's book, the player William Ross of Lincoln City, Notts County et al never played for Gainsborough, but the free-to-access bit of ENFA lists him among their players for 1897/98. Please could you look up how many apps/goals he had for Gainsborough? thanks in advance, Struway2 (talk) 14:07, 31 December 2013 (UTC)
No sorry I did not renew my subscription. ENFA did include club's which a player never made a senior appearance for.--Add92 (talk) 14:38, 31 December 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks anyway. Joyce usually lists clubs that a player was known to have been with even if they never played, but Gainsborough wasn't mentioned at all for Ross. Perhaps it's only recently come to light that he was there. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 15:11, 31 December 2013 (UTC)
