Hal Moore is a former United States Army|US Army]] General and, in 1965, was the lieutenant colonel in command of a battalion of the 7th Cavalry Division, at the Battle of the Ia Drang. Moore was commissioned as a second lieutenant in 1945 and retired as a major general in 1977.
