Yep, those are creepy lyrics if you pay close attention, but there's something about the song that I can't help but singing out loud each time it's being played in my iPod :D Aaaaaaalisoon Miss Bono 18:45, 7 October 2013 (UTC)

Apple Keychain accounts

Hi Alison! I just posted about this at WP:AN - can you shed any light on this? Thanks, NawlinWiki (talk) 21:07, 8 October 2013 (UTC)

User:Alison/Lady Leshurr

Was just going to write an article on her, but I see you're already on it. Could I deal with the biography and you deal with the discography? The last time I put a discography into one of my biographies was a long time ago.--Launchballer 18:27, 10 October 2013 (UTC)

Talk page stalker wandering by, that does indeed look like old friend Grundle2600. He's stayed off the Obama-specific pages for a year or so now, looks like he's been flying under the radar in related articles. Cordial enough fellow actually, just very very biased in what he wishes the Misplaced Pages to project. Tarc (talk) 17:06, 15 October 2013 (UTC)
He put a lot of work into his recent "contributions," prepping it in his sandbox and all, and he doesn't like seeing it all go away. What a waste of his time, I almost feel sorry for the guy. --Dr. Fleischman (talk) 17:42, 15 October 2013 (UTC)
Found a bunch, blocked a bunch. Blocked some other stuff. Just let me know if he shows up again - Alison 18:11, 15 October 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for staying on top of this. If we see another quick reversion on that talk page can we have a rangeblock please? --Dr. Fleischman (talk) 18:13, 15 October 2013 (UTC)
Sure thing. If he keeps messing around with the talk page, just let me know and it can be semi'd for a bit. Like Tarc says, he's a cordial enough dude and there's a way through all this, but he kinda has to play by the rules - Alison 18:14, 15 October 2013 (UTC)
I'm not sure semi would help, given his stable of accounts. --Dr. Fleischman (talk) 18:18, 15 October 2013 (UTC)
Just as an FYI, I did for the latest batch of Grundlesocks and requested CU for any sleepers. As I commented there, this entire situation is just too much for him to resist. EDIT: And thank your for handling this before his posts start feeding more madness. Ravensfire (talk) 18:23, 15 October 2013 (UTC)
Well the madness continues, as Arzel is reverting (here, here) my WP:BE deletions. Alison, could you please tell him to back off? I don't want to start a discussion on Talk:PPACA as that would only fuel Grundle's fire. --Dr. Fleischman (talk) 18:50, 15 October 2013 (UTC)
I think this requires immediate attention before it snowballs out of control, so I'm going to post something at ANI. I won't hit "save changes" at that page without checking to make sure someone hasn't taken care of this already. --Dr. Fleischman (talk) 19:16, 15 October 2013 (UTC)
Frankly, that's just Arzel being Arzel. But it's annoying and it needs to stop. Of course, I'm an involved editor and I don't think Arzel has any particular interest in what I have to say, so I don't think I'm in a position to do much about it. MastCell  19:42, 15 October 2013 (UTC)

UTRS ticket #9300

Hi Alison, if you wouldn't mind, could you please pop on to UTRS and provide some background on ticket 9300? You were the blocking admin for the case. A fluffernutter is a sandwich! (talk) 16:02, 14 November 2013 (UTC)

Example of personal attack

. I was surprised that an administrator would say something like the lower paragraph. As for promoting a photograph, your definition of COI would apply to any editor to uploads and adds a picture to any article without making a disclosure. Not being legalistic here, but would be nice if you reconsidered your position.Mattnad (talk) 00:07, 21 November 2013 (UTC)

  • I'm surprised at your overreaction here. Words like "frenzy and personal attacks", "personal attacks and allegations", "How about you tone down your comments? Just sayin'", etc, etc. None of these are collegial comments, and are a a gross assumption of bad faith on your part. As for the comment cited, it's meant to be humourous. I deeply apologize for your not seeing it in that way, and should you wish to take it further, direct you to the nearest drama-board - Alison 00:12, 21 November 2013 (UTC)
  • And I'm not about to reconsider my position. You directly touted a photograph, using the RfC process that you yourself uploaded, without disclosing it first. Later, you would claim it as just being a sample, yet your RfC is running your pic alongside the current one. Not some other sample - your one. Then you couched the RfC in vague terms, whilst handwaving towards your upload. Not cool - Alison 00:15, 21 November 2013 (UTC)
Sigh. reminds me of my women's studies classes. Mattnad (talk) 00:25, 21 November 2013 (UTC)
Sigh. Reminds me of man-children who like belittling women who reasonably disagree with them under the guise of "straight-talking." And she's absolutely right - using a picture that you claim you own the copyright to as a random selection from commons was sleazy. Also, what's your relation to Moe Nadler, who apparently held the marketing rights for the "Wonderbra" in Canada for a great many years?Dan Murphy (talk) 00:38, 21 November 2013 (UTC)

UTRS Comments box

Hey, saw your finishing a comment on a new line because you got cut off on ticket 9300. I just wanted to let you know that the comments box is a sort of "quick view". If you want to display the full comments, you just click the "Logs for this request" link at the top and there will be a popup box with the full comments. So there is no need to finish off. Also, if you click the "add comment" link, you can use a multi-line box. Just neat little features that are under used.--v/r - TP 21:58, 22 November 2013 (UTC)

Case of sockpuppetry against user Blurred Lines

I just like to alert you as a checkuser. I have made a case of abuse of sockpuppets by user Blurred Lines as shown here Misplaced Pages:Sockpuppet investigations/Blurred Lines and literally within seconds of my making out the case, User talk:Reaper Eternal deleted it with his reason being "obviously not the same user." I made out the case again and requested Reaper to actually investigate. This is not the first time I have brought a case of suspected sockpuppetry abuse to the noticeboard and Reaper Eternal immediately dismissed before it was the same matter was brought to the noticeboard by a different user and it was ultimately discovered that the editor I had reported was in fact abusing sockpuppets. The issue happened with user Cresix in which Reaper first declined my case and someone else would then later bring similar concerns to the noticeboards and it was found that the editor I reported had a penchant for abusing sockpuppets (as shown in the case involving user Cresix here and here and here ). The user in this case, Blurred Lines, has a history of abusing sockpuppets and has been blocked for it recently. He has a similar editing style as User:Onorem. I remade out the case, requesting that this checkuser actually investigate. If Reaper will not look into the matter thoroughly and just instantaneously delete the case, could you please?! And could you monitor that this case is actually investigated and not just dismissed within seconds of my making it out? Thank you! AmericanDad86 (talk) 13:42, 30 November 2013 (UTC)

Please do investigate this and then explain to AmericanDad86 how absolutely ridiculous this is, and exactly how weak his 'case' against me is. --Onorem (talk) 14:44, 30 November 2013 (UTC)
(talk page stalker)IIRC, I think it's against the privacy policy for checkusers to run the tool for completely baseless cases, even if the subject of the request asks them to, to prove their innocence. Alison would certainly know better than I would, though. Writ Keeper  15:47, 30 November 2013 (UTC)
I think you are correct, and I'm not really making the request. It was more of a please do, I clearly have nothing to hide so go ahead type statement. --Onorem (talk) 16:00, 30 November 2013 (UTC)
Well, for what it's worth, I posted my opinion on it to AD86's talk page. Writ Keeper  16:02, 30 November 2013 (UTC)

  • The Daily Fail is not a reliable source. Furthermore, you'll need more than that for a BLP change. Furthermore, there's nothing of use on that page other than a bunch of covert pics taken by some paparazzi. Nothing from Foster whatsoever. To the talk page! - Alison 21:59, 2 December 2013 (UTC)

Accidental revert?

Hey, Alison, this looks like a rollback misclick, but I wanted to double check and make sure it was before reverting or anything. Is it? Writ Keeper  08:45, 17 December 2013 (UTC)

Hi, I assumed it was a mistake and reverted it, just popped over to let you know. Darkness Shines (talk) 08:54, 17 December 2013 (UTC)

Response

I must respectfully disagree. A while back, the user and I had a very similar disagreement and a number of users gave opinions, all of whom disagreed with him. He'd already done this once today and was reverted by someone other than me. It clearly wasn't good faith, since it was rehashing an old disagreement without discussion and he knew it would likely provoke a disagreement. Plus, he's been around a long time, so he had to figure that outright removing verifiable information, then reverting the re-addition twice (all without attempting to open a discussion), was not okay. To me, that's vandalism. Plain and simple. -- Scorpion 03:20, 18 December 2013 (UTC)

  • Both of you have been around long enough to know better. And you should also know not to go baiting them now they're blocked, regardless of their behavior. Try to be the better person, ok? Because if you keep swinging by to thumb your nose, I'll block your account too (and I'm not a block-happy admin) - Alison 03:23, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
    • It's okay, it appears that he's decided to move on. I interpret his response as "You make sense, and I can't argue with that, but rather than saying that, I'm going to attempt to be witty." What's truly amazing is that I didn't leave a comment like that on his page. Perhaps I'm learning something. -- Scorpion 03:29, 18 December 2013 (UTC)

Photos of Andy Irvine (musician)

Dear Alison,

First of all: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year for 2014.

For the last few months (since 22 July 2013), I have been updating the article on Andy Irvine and I am pleased to say that this helped the article being upgraded from 'Start class' to 'C' yesterday.

Today, I came across the photo you uploaded into Commons, of Andy Irvine on stage with Dónal Lunny, Liam O'Flynn and Paddy Glackin (a.k.a. 'LAPD'); I was very pleased to be able to add this photo into the 'LAPD' section of the article; thank you for making this possible.

If/when you have the time and inclination, Alison, please would you be kind enough to have a look at this article? There are only two photos in it and I am sure you will conclude that it could do with a few more, about Andy's various projects over the decades.

However, one task I am not good at is uploading images into Commons, because I am bewildered by the licensing rules and I therefore find the uploading process confusing and somewhat frustrating.

Therefore, the purpose of this message (a desperate plea, really...) is simply to seek your assistance, since your Wikimedia page is clear about your motivation to upload photos; if you were willing to add more photos of Andy into Commons, then I would be able to retrieve them and include them into the article.

I am sure you have tons of urgent or more worthy things to do with your precious time and you might not be interested in helping me with this; however, if I hadn't asked, I would never have known that you might have said 'Yes!'.

So, I look forward to receiving your reply, whenever convenient, and I will respect your decision as final, one way or the other. However, I am hopeful that you might also be one of Andy's fans and therefore willing to help me make his article even better than it already is. So, Alison: thank you for your consideration to the present request.

With kindest regards for now;

Patrick. ツ Pdebee. (talk) 22:18, 27 December 2013 (UTC)

Hi, I submitted a page back in 2009 called 'Bootle hens' which was deleted under the speedy deletion criteria (A7). I believe I am entitled to a copy of this page and if so I would like one please. I'm not really sure why my page was A7'd as there were references on there and its significance was justified as far as I was concerned. I've looked at the criteria for A7 and I think my page was unfairly deleted. To be certain though, I need to see the page hence this request. Thanks in advance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Blakes101 (talkcontribs) 14:25, 23 January 2014 (UTC)

An Garda Síochána

Regarding An Garda Síochána, strictly speaking you are right but An Garda Síochána redirects to Garda Síochána, and also its more common to say The Garda Síochána rather than An Garda Síochána (except in RTE). Also since 99.9999% of Misplaced Pages readers have no knowledge of Irish grammar its more helpful to have a 'the' rather than an confusing 'An' which isn't an English word but a completely different Irish word! I'm not changing it in the main article only in links. Tx, Snappy (talk) 19:44, 10 February 2014 (UTC)

Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
