Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370, was a international scheduled passenger flight, operated by a Boeing 777-200 aircraft, departed Kuala Lumpur at 12.41am on 8 March 2014. MH370 was expected to land in Beijing at 6.30am the same day. Flight MH370 lost contact with Subang Air Traffic Control at 2.40am on 8 March 2014, two hours after taking off. The flight was carrying a total number of 227 passengers, including 2 infants, and 12 crew members. The plane was possibly flying over the waters near the coast of northern Vietnam at the time of loss of contact with air traffic control.

Malaysia Airlines announced at 7.24am that it was working with the authorities who have activated their Search and Rescue team to locate the aircraft. Airline officials stated they would be holding a press conference later in the day.
