Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||
---|---|---|
Shortcuts
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

REALbasic (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
This article recently underwent an extreme lesbian vandal attack — the edit history speaks for itself. Semi-protect, please. —THIS IS MESSEDOCKER (TALK) 02:14, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
Robin (comics) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
We have a IP and a editor adding a fancruft Robin to the page and they keep reverting it back when we revert it back. The Robin that they are reverting it to is currently up for AfD as original research The Robin. BJK 23:23, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
Subliminal_message (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Sorry for bad english! Please, add this midiawiki to Subliminal message: ]. Thank you. Alexey.
Tony Blair (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Permanent semi protection our glorious leader's been unprotected again, and the inevitable torrent of anon vandalism has ensued. "Hopefully, protection is no longer necessary" was the edit comment of the unprotecting admin. Bless. SP-KP 19:08, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
- Semi-protected due to heavy vandalism. Voice-of-All 20:33, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
Bhumihar (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
This page is being repeatedly vandalised or unnecessarily reverted to vandalised, defamatory, false, poorly organized and ungrammatical versions by User:Holywarrior. Please ban him if you find it appropriate and protect this sensitive article on an influential clan of the North Indian social hierarchy. Thanks.

Democratic Underground (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-Protection There is an edit war currently going on over a disputed external link. At least one unregistered sock puppet has started editting the link out (possibly as a means to get around the three-reverts rule). Jinxmchue 20:16, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
- There is not enough recent activity to justify protection at this time. Just watchlist and revert any vandalism. Voice-of-All 20:24, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
Current requests for unprotection
ShortcutsBefore posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
User talk:GoldToeMarionette (edit | user page | history | links | watch | logs)

IGN (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Page was originally semi-protected due to an invasion from the IGN message boards. This was over a week ago and the invasion was only going to last an evening anyway. Anonymous editors are currently requesting (constructive) changes on the talk page. -- Steel 00:09, 22 June 2006 (UTC)

User:Xinyu (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
I'm actually wondering whether this page is protected at all... I can edit it just fine, and it seems like the user has put this template on his user page when the page wasn't actually protected in the past. Still, I'm going to assume good faith, because I don't know how to tell if the page is just protected so that anon users can't edit it (though why it would be I don't know; there hasn't been a lot of vandalism to the page)... Do the admins have some way of checking whether a page is protected? (Is there a way for me to do this of which I am unaware?) I've told the user that he should remove the tag if his page isn't really protected, but I'm not sure if he'll comply. Sorry if this isn't the right place to bring this up... I wasn't sure whether it should maybe go on the admins' noticeboard instead.
Thanks!
Hbackman 05:02, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
- I've removed the template; it wasn't protected. AmiDaniel (talk) 05:04, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
List of wars and disasters by death toll (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
This page was protected over a content dispute. All users involved in the dispute have now agreed the page can be unprotected. Thankyou. Gatoclass 01:16, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

Apartheid outside of South Africa (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Article was protected as a result of differences regarding this and Israeli apartheid article. Since the issue with both is the same, they need to be dealt with in the same way and at the same time. Jayjg 15:53, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
Current requests for significant edits to a protected page
ShortcutIdeally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

Permanent semi protection this was de-semi-protected 19 hours and already linkspam has returned. Linkspam in this article in inevitable unless it is semi-protected permanently. Computerjoe's talk 18:14, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

Permanent full protection to prevent creation. There's Special:Watchlist. Malformed JS's need to be rewritten. ~Chris Don't be evil. 18:08, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
- let's see if it gets recreated first, shall we? The redirect was a good idea, IMHO. KillerChihuahua 18:11, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
Banu Nadir (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Protected because of alleged edit warring, when in fact the changes were being discussed quite a bit on the talk page at the time (Misplaced Pages:Edit war defines it as undiscussed reversions.) I think that the protecting admin might have meant "rampant accusations of racism and other gross incivility" instead of "edit warring." In any case, mediation has begun. Furthermore, I have prepared mediation questions, so we should be ready to go right away. Please unprotect the page and Banu Qaynuqa (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views), the other article subject to this mediation, because the mediator, User:Geo.plrd, is not an admin. Thank you. Publicola 06:59, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
- Issues can be worked out on talk page quite easily during mediation. There is no reason to unprotect until the mediation is over. pschemp | talk 14:11, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
Portal:Taiwan (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
page-move protection The portal is meant to be about the island of Taiwan (NPOV) under the Geography section of Portal:Browse but some people keep moving the portal page to Portal:Republic of China. A mediation request has been filed at Misplaced Pages:Mediation Cabal/Cases/2006-06-21 Portal:Taiwan as the next step to settle the dispute. Until the mediation and possible further arbitration request is concluded, I request that the portal be protected against page-moves until the dispute is solved. — Nrtm81 13:20, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

Talk:Neuro-linguistic programming (edit | article | history | links | watch | logs)
Semi-protection having been heavily trolled and vandalised by sock/meats in the past year (sock ring listed on WP:LTA), the main page has been semi protected, but now we're seeing edits from anon IP's in the same style as the sock puppeteer again. So a request to add semi-protection to the talk page too. Sample edit: this long edit which looks innocuous... if it wasn't almost identical to previous edits by the vandal over the last year. Also see Neuro-linguistic programming on WP:PROT#Semi-protection. FT2 12:16, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

Jean-Baptiste Lamarck (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection this page is currently having a lot of vandalism done to it by at least 2 IPs - possibly the same user. I'm not sure whether semi-protection or an IP range block would be best, as at the moment it seems to only be affecting the Jean-Baptiste Lamarck article. 4Kids Entertainment (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protrction a user with an ip tried to tell me i was vandelising the page (which, i was not, i was removing a biased piece of the article. and replacing it with a toned down version). i feel that only registered users need to edit this opage because of the nature in how the company is viewed by some. Semi-protection This page has had several IP edits in the last 24 hours, adding nonsense to the article, and all but one of the edits was reverted. TheJC (talk • contribs • count) 06:31, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

Shaw and Crompton (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Full-Protection -- The article is currently semi-protected, but still being targetted by sock-puppets from a banned user User:Argol136. The motive is to revert from verifiable modern and even cited geography to a dissused and ancient system of land division that goes against the Misplaced Pages:Naming conventions (places). Full protection for a while would help - a message about this kind of behavior on the talk page would be even better. Jhamez84 18:56, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
- Page already protected by William M. Connolley. Voice-of-All 20:26, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

J. Philippe Rushton (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection I request a semi-protection oif this article in order to "Enforce a "cool down" period to stop an "edit war," - anonymous users are reverting large sections, and have been reluctant to engage in dialogue before continued edits. I think if we limit it to people who have accounts of their own, we may be able to get better results. --JereKrischel 22:51, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
- Full protected. Semi-protection cannot be employed to interupt edit wars as it places registered users in a position of advantage over non-autoconfirmeds. AmiDaniel (talk) 01:58, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
Kosovo War (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection I request a semi-protection oif this article in order to "Enforce a "cool down" period to stop an "edit war," - probably one anonymous user uses many IP accounts to add unsourced and controversial statements to the Kosovo War article. Attemts to have a civil debate based on sourced information have failed. An attemt to ask other wikipedians for assistance has also failed. See the talk page and history page of the Kosovo War article for details on the revert war. Thank you for your time. Mieciu K 22:18, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

Gays, Illinois (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection. This isn't a real high priority, but this article sees very few non-vandalous edits, so semi-protection would seem a reasonable step. It's not as if the article needs a lot of editing anyway. -- Mwanner | Talk 22:17, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
- Not enough to protect currently. Please watchlist, revert, and warn as you see it--I will do the same. AmiDaniel (talk) 02:01, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
- I know the absolute number of bad edits isn't high, but the point is that virtually all of the edits since April are vandalous-- seems pointless not to semi-protect: there aren't any good edits coming in. It's a small town and the article doesn't really need much more work, so it's just drawing garbage edits because of its name. But whatever... -- Mwanner | Talk 15:45, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
