Daryush Valizadeh, (born June 14, 1979) also known as Roosh V, RooshV and Roosh Vorek, is an American pick-up artist of Iranian origin and Iranian parents, known for his writings on having sex with women around the world. Roosh notes that he prefers unprotected sex, without condom, with women. Roosh wrote: "Raise your hand if you’re scared of AIDS.

I don’t see many hands out there. The only people scared these days are OCD freaks who can’t get laid, because it’s just not on the radar anymore. It’s a way they can rationalize their miserable, sexless existence. I even sense that a lot of people have accepted they’ll contract HPV at some point in their lives. Girls have told me in sweet embrace that I probably have it, but are willing to bang without a condom anyway.

If I was as dirty as them, I could probably have raw dog sex with 95% of all white girls, regardless of socioeconomic background. I only have met one girl that was super serious about using condoms, but I eventually fucked her without a condom too, so actually I change that to 100%. I could bang every white girl who lives in the United States without a condom if I desired, within three dates. I’m not kidding. I could do most of them raw dog on the same night. Here’s how to do it…" . RooshV has self-published 14 books offering advice to men on how to make sexual conquests. Readers and observers differ widely in their response to Roosh and his writing. Numerous critics have labelled him as a misogynist and an attention-seeking charlatan, and news reports in countries which have been settings for his books have been generally very negative. Roosh is also the owner and editor of Return Of Kings website, which the large portal Jezebel describes as "disgusting, misogynistic website, a non-stop stream of vitriolic, horrifying garbage".

Background

Roosh graduated from the University of Maryland in 2001 with a degree in microbiology. A profile in Takimag states that he began blogging by writing about his failed attempts at having sex with women. Once his internet anonymity was broken, he turned to blogging and writing full-time to support himself, first with the release of Bang in 2007 and then with sex-themed guides on the countries he visited. They include "raw" and "borderline-pornographic" accounts of his experiences

His ideas are described as misogynistic and hateful. The Daily Dot Magazine confirmed in February 2014 about Daryush Valizadeh: "So extreme are Roosh’s views he even managed to land himself on the Southern Poverty Law Center’s extremism report, a privilege usually reserved for neo-Nazis and terrorists"

The large portal Jezebel labeled him as "awful", "despicable", "downright psychopathic" and "the worst person we've come across in a very, very long time".

Also in 2014, Caitlin Dewey from the Washington Post named Roosh as the "most-hated man on the Internet", writing: "Valizadeh owns the website ReturnofKings.com, which bans 'women and homosexuals' from commenting. Recent articles include the charming '5 Reasons to Date a Girl With an Eating Disorder,' 'Don’t Work for a Female Boss' and 'Biology Says People on Welfare Should Die.'"

Controversy

United States

In a March 2012 report on "The Year in Hate and Extremism", the Southern Poverty Law Center included Roosh in a list of "manosphere" sites which it described as hateful and misogynistic. The Daily Dot Magazine confirmed in February 2014 about Daryush Valizadeh: "So extreme are Roosh’s views he even managed to land himself on the Southern Poverty Law Center’s extremism report, a privilege usually reserved for neo-Nazis and terrorists" The SPLC later clarified that it wished to draw attention to "specific examples of misogyny and the threat, overt or implicit, of violence".

Caitlin Dewey from the Washington Post considers Roosh the "most-hated man on the Internet", writing: "Valizadeh owns the website ReturnofKings.com, which bans 'women and homosexuals' from commenting. Recent articles include the charming '5 Reasons to Date a Girl With an Eating Disorder,' 'Don’t Work for a Female Boss' and 'Biology Says People on Welfare Should Die.'" .

The large portal Jezebel labeled him as "awful", "despicable", "downright psychopathic" and "the worst person we've come across in a very, very long time".

In February 2014, The Daily Dot Magazine named Roosh "The Web's most infamous mysoginist" and observed "his extraordinarily vitriolic and misogynistic views about women and society as a whole".

Iceland

The Icelandic publication DV wrote a number of stories about Roosh's release of his book Bang Iceland, calling it "derogatory." Icelandic feminist organization Femínistafélag Íslands condemned the book as a "rape guide." Another publication labelled it "slander." Icelandic writer and media persona Egill Einarsson said the book was "as wrong as possible."

Denmark

Ekstra Bladet wrote five articles on the release of Roosh's book Don't Bang Denmark, and Danish TV aired several discussions sparked by the book.

Baltics

His books Bang Estonia, Don't Bang Latvia, and Bang Lithuania were met with a generally negative reaction from media outlets of those respective countries, where he was described as a "sex tourist."

Bang Lithuania received the most exposure.

Colombia

Roosh's Bang Colombia was noticed two years after it was originally released. It was strongly criticized in El Pais, Publimetro, and several other newspapers.

Poland

Natemat Magazine critiqued Bang Poland with the help of psychologists in a long feature. Another outlet considered that RooshV writings are very negative, Daryush Valizadeh only focusing on the obstacles that he considers annoying before getting between the legs of new Polish women.

Daryush Valizadeh moved in 2013 to Wroclaw, Poland where he now lives full-time.

Norway

Dagbladet questioned the morality of Roosh's seduction tactics in an article warning about the rise of the "manosphere."
