Comrade Wolf is a character in a Russian joke, in which Rabinovich (an archetypal Russian Jew, often an otkaznik (refusenik), who is refused permission to emigrate to Israel), and his sheep are entering the woods. In the course of the story they fall into a pit that is very deep. A few moments later, a wolf falls into the same pit. The sheep are scared due to the arrival of the wolf and begin bleating. "What do you mean - baa, baa, baa?", Rabinovich asks at this point, “Comrade Wolf knows whom to eat”.

In a recent speech Russian President Vladimir Putin refered to U.S. President George W. Bush's America as Comrade Wolf.CNN report
