Accession of the Republic of Crimea to the Russian Federation is the legal name of the process by which the territory of Crimea was incorporated in the Russian Federation.
It followed the secession of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and secession of the City of Sevastopol - both then administrative divisions of Ukraine - from Ukraine.
Some sources claim it was not an accession but the process was the Annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation.
