This is the user talk page for me, K6ka, where you can leave messages for me.

Some friendly reminders before you continue:

  • Remember to add your signature to the end of your message.
To do this, first move your text insertion cursor to the end of your message. Then, do any of the following:
    • In the editor toolbar, select the button.
    • Enter four tilde characters using your keyboard. This will look like the following: ~~~~.
On a US keyboard, this is done by pressing the following key combinations four times: ⇧ Shift+`. Please see this chart for more information on how to type the tilde character.
Your signature will appear when you publish your changes.
  • Please remember the rules around civility and the guidelines around assuming good faith. To summarize:
    • Civility is when you are respectful and considerate of other editors, even if you don't agree with them.
    • Assuming good faith is when you assume that the people you are working with want to help Misplaced Pages, rather than hurt it.
Not following these two guidelines can lead to problems that quickly become difficult to solve. It also makes editing Misplaced Pages a lot less enjoyable than it should be.
  • Note that I am not an employee of Misplaced Pages or the Wikimedia Foundation. I am not paid to edit Misplaced Pages, this is not my day job, and any opinions expressed by me are solely my own and are not representative of Misplaced Pages in any official capacity.
  • It is currently 12:21 am, December 26, 2024 EST where I live. Talk pages are like email—don't expect an immediate response, especially if it's nighttime! Please be patient.
Frequently Asked Questions
Here is a list of frequently asked questions I get, and their answers.
  • Q: I am not logged in to Misplaced Pages, and I got a message from you saying that I vandalized an article that I didn't edit. What's going on?A: No need to panic! Misplaced Pages uses your IP address to identify you when you are not logged in. IP addresses may be shared between multiple users, or be reassigned to different users periodically. For example, if you are at school or a coffee shop, the IP address you are using is shared by everyone using the Internet there. The message you received was intended for someone who had previously used the IP address you are currently using. If you did not vandalize Misplaced Pages, you can safely ignore the message. If you get these kinds of messages frequently, you may want to consider creating an account and logging in to it. That way, any messages you get will actually be intended for you, rather than someone else who used your IP address.
  • Q: I am not logged into Misplaced Pages, and I can't edit because you have blocked me. What do I do?A: See the above: you are probably on a shared IP address, and someone before you was editing Misplaced Pages inappropriately. Shared IP addresses are usually blocked from editing for long periods of time to prevent abuse. The good news is that you can usually still edit if you log in. If you don't have an account, and cannot create one because of the block, you can request an account.
  • Q: You reverted one of my edits. Why is that?A: Unless I'm reverting vandalism, I usually provide an explanation for my reverts, either in my edit summary, or in a message on your user talk page. There are many reasons for reverting an edit, and each case has its own reason. If you're still not sure why I reverted your edit, you can ask me on this talk page.
  • Q: Are there alternate ways of contacting you?A: For wiki-related inquiries, you can also reach me at the following venues:
    • Discord – I can be found on the unofficial Misplaced Pages Discord server under the username k6ka. Please do not send me a friend request; just mention my username in any public channel and I'll respond when I get a chance to.
    • Email – You must be logged in and have an email address registered with your account to use this feature.
    • IRC – I can be found on the Libera Chat IRC network under the nickname k6ka in the #wikipedia-en channel.
Please don't try to contact me regarding wiki-related matters on other websites or platforms.

Reverted edits to National Journal page

Hello K6ka,

I saw this morning that you reverted edits that I made to National Journal's wikipedia page. Can you please share the parts of my update that you felt were not neutral?

Thank you,

According to this edit, the changes you made aren't introducing the topic to readers. When we start an article on Misplaced Pages, we begin with "'This thing' is a 'blah blah blah'", and we refrain from using a promotional tone and Weasel words. "For over 40 years, 'this thing' has been..." is not the way we start an article here. The tone we use in articles do not give readers ideas on which side to take, which side was correct, and which side was wrong. We also write articles in our own words, and your edits appeared to have been copied directly from another source. I noticed that you replaced a lot of sourced content with unsourced material - keep in mind that all materials need to be supported by a reliable source - if you need help with citations, check out WP:CITE. Also, while we do encourage editors to be Bold, sometimes an editor will disagree, revert your edit, and then ask you to discuss it on the article talk page. Instead of reverting them again, sort the issue out and discuss it with other editors. Your changes appear to be pretty questionable, so I would probably ask for advice over at the Teahouse. BTW, if you need help with Misplaced Pages, you can check out our Introduction to Misplaced Pages, and if you have any questions, the Teahouse is staffed by friendly, experienced editors that can help you out. If you have any more questions, you can check out the links I provided, ask at the Teahouse, or just ask me again on this page. --k6ka (talk | contribs) 14:00, 21 April 2014 (UTC)

Thank you for the clean up of my user page vandalism. It's much appreciated. Bahooka (talk) 16:46, 22 April 2014 (UTC)

No problem. My userpage has been vandalized countless times. --k6ka (talk | contribs) 18:44, 22 April 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for reverting all that vandalism, and thanks for updating the WikiDefcon every few hours. You're real helpful. Rtucker913 (What do you want?) 13:55, 27 April 2014 (UTC)

Hello!

Hello K6ka!

I randomly stumbled upon your page, and I found it quite entertaining! I was wondering though, where do you find all the user boxes? Are they all located in one area, or do you have to search for them individually?

Thanks!

JosephHawk (talk) 22:22, 28 April 2014 (UTC)JosephHawk

There's an (incomplete) list of userboxes on this page. If you're really into userboxes, you can make your own and share them with other people. --k6ka (talk | contribs) 22:27, 28 April 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know about the edits you reverted on the German Cuisine page. But you have the wrong person. I did not make any changes there. Sorry. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.167.15.163 (talk) 00:55, 29 April 2014 (UTC)

It's a bug in the software, as I have not left you any message/warnings on your talk page. It's not my fault, and neither is it yours. The bug was supposedly fixed months ago, but it apparently still persists. --k6ka (talk | contribs) 01:34, 29 April 2014 (UTC)
