Plot
Cassidy suspects that his new stepmom, Kendall, is sleeping around on his dad, so he hires Veronica to get the 'money shot'. She does this, discovering that Kendall has infact been sleeping with Veronica's ex boyfriend Logan. However, she also finds out that Cassidy's dad is cheating investors about property. Keith and Alicia go to Chicago, but encounter a surprise. But the biggest surprise is saved for Veronica when Sheriff Lamb tells her about the dead body that washed up on the beach with "Veronica Mars" written on his hand.
Arc significance
- In Chicago, a man (later revealed as a police officer) sees Alicia and calls her "Cher" and "Cherie".
- The body on the beach was David "Curly" Moran. He was a mechanic who used to be a stunt coordinator for Aaron Echolls' first big movie, The Long Haul. The stunt he coordinated of a truck crashing off-road into the sea was the same as the bus accident which killed 6 of Veronica's classmates, and meant to include Veronica herself.
- Cassidy gets pictures of Logan and Kendall together and shows them to his dad. At the same time, SEC investigators arrive and Richard Casablancas (correctly) deduces that the private investigator Cassidy had hired (Veronica) must have also discovered that his business was a fraud. He tells his employees to shred everything and leaves in a helicopter as the SEC enter the office.
Music
Writing and acting
- Courtney Taylor-Taylor, the lead singer of The Dandy Warhols, who sings the theme to Veronica Mars, appears at karaoke singing "Love Hurts".
- Eli "Weevil" Navarro does not appear in this episode.

- Duncan: The workers.
- Veronica : Exxccellent.
- Wallace: What're you lookin' at?
- Veronica: Just...tawdriness.
- Wallace: ...What're you lookin' at now?
- Veronica: The opposite of tawdriness. Wallace and his pudding cup.
- Mr. Pope: Now, you may invest your money any way you see fit, as long as it's legal.
- Dick: Dude, dog racing is totally legal.
- Mr. Pope: But hardly lucrative, as I recall from your performance last year.
- Wallace: Wh-- You met Jackie, right?
- Veronica: I didn't realize you were lunch buddies.
- Wallace: I'm going for lunch buddies with privileges. Help a brother out.
- Veronica: Well if you wanna play in her league, you'd better hide your little pudding.
- Wallace: Hey, I like her, okay? Retract claws.
- Veronica: Claws, what claws?
- Logan: My very own guardian angel.
- Veronica: Don't flatter yourself. The only reason I came here is so I won't have to feel responsible.
- Logan: Yeah, what, responsible for what?
- Veronica: For taking pictures of you and Kendall playing house. Don't take it the wrong way, Logan, it was a job, nothing more.
- Logan: Right, and so you storm out in a burst of professionalism.
- Veronica: I suggest you start locking your doors.
- Veronica: ...or did I get really drunk in a biker bar?.
- Keith: So wassup kil'?
- Veronica: None of your biz, Wax.
