Dear Moxy: It appears that I somehow reverted your edit at the European history project. I'm pretty sure that I've never even been on that page, so the only thing I can think of is that I must have activated a rollback from my Watchlist. Apparently it's instant and doesn't ask for a confirmation! I've never intentionally used that feature, so if that's what happened I am surprised that the edit summary just said "revert" and not "rollback". In any case, I can't imagine wanting to revert edits to a page without seeing both the old and new versions, so I've found a way to remove "rollback" links from my watchlist to prevent a recurrence. I am pretty much a klutz and can't always be sure of not accidentally clicking on things. I apologize for the inconvenience. —] (]) 04:02, 3 July 2014 (UTC) | Dear Moxy: It appears that I somehow reverted your edit at the European history project. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Misplaced Pages appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Former colonies and territories in Canada, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Assiniboine (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

I would have thought from name and the content that its reasonably obvious that this template is about individual sports, not about Sports in country x. Moondyne (talk) 01:33, 15 March 2014 (UTC)
- What do you mean "Olympics" is not an individual sports. Its a sport template not our fault that there is not other country sport portal. Will be reverting bold edit -- Moxy (talk) 02:46, 15 March 2014 (UTC)

Native American populations
This editor concerns me - I've seen him make a lot of poorly sourced or unsourced population changes. He reverted you and I've again removed the chart he added using among other sources a travel company and an 1895 gazetteer. Have you seen his other edits? Dougweller (talk) 05:07, 31 March 2014 (UTC)
Hi Moxy....
I don't think you're among those who despise and resent me, saw DougWeller's comments about native pops and have noted that editor myself.....some like the Kaska and Tahltan figures may be correct but they're uncited; they sound right anyways.
To keep it short as I've said my piece elsewhere, please take the time to read this and this and, if you've got the stomach for it, the "tonight's response" in this on my talkpage and this on the ethnicities and tribes naming convention talkpage and my other posts there. You were among those who regretted my absence from Misplaced Pages, and welcomed my return. I've been trying to correct the reckless overturning of titles that took place in my absence, and have received endless shit for it; it seems there are those who want to drive me from Misplaced Pages again, as I am in there way. 'Nuff said; the latter two links are something of a manifesto of what I believe has gone off the rails in Misplaced Pages, I'll leave it at that. Canadian input at the remaining unclosed town-RMs and some of the remaining indigenous people RMs is sorely needed. This isn't polling as that is about "looking for biased" votes/input - though there are certain of my opponents who claim that my application of NCET and CANSTYLE is "POV" - as if their own positions and actions weren't.Skookum1 (talk) 06:43, 31 March 2014 (UTC)

Reflist parameters?
Hi, Moxy, I've appreciated your constructive edits over the years on a variety of articles. I see that you edited an article I have watchlisted today to change a reflist template parameter from specifying 2 columns to specifying columns 30em wide. Just on the face of that, that seems like better responsive website design, as some users may zoom in on their text more than others, but I wonder if you have any other comments about usability of different formatting settings on Misplaced Pages. The software of Misplaced Pages has changed a bit over the years, and the browsers people use to read Misplaced Pages have changed too, and I wonder what trade-offs I should be considering as I update various articles. For sure, I expect to be adding references to most articles I work on, so I want to understand how the reflist template works to format reference lists. (I will have to remember to experiment in user sandboxes as I update article drafts.) What Misplaced Pages documentation or other sources do you recommend to make sure that I understand these issues well and use current best practice? Keep up the good work. -- WeijiBaikeBianji (talk, how I edit) 22:06, 3 April 2014 (UTC)
- Nevermind. I found the documentation and have been experimenting. Thanks for the fix that drew this issue to my attention. Happy editing. -- WeijiBaikeBianji (talk, how I edit) 19:54, 4 April 2014 (UTC)
Help to create a consensus around University Canada West Misplaced Pages
Hey Moxy,
Please, can you review the University Canada West Talk page. I need to form a consensus because as of now it's me and another editor; this is not a consensus. Please, take a few minutes to see my referenced contributions and content on the University Canada West Talk page. I would appreciate if you could weigh in.

coat of arms of canada
thumb|Non free image, Coat of arms of Canada, official but low quality
- Hello, i want to know someone who can fix the official coat of arms of cananada file. while the file might be official, the low quality :
- makes the fact about officialy not as true, do you know someone who can fix the file?
- if you look on the rendition then you will notice the better quality and better colours and details and style
- see http://www.pch.gc.ca/eng/1359469552514/1359469845405#a1 under "the proclamation" it looks more alike the rendition than the file on wikipedia 95.199.197.181 (talk) 22:06, 6 April 2014 (UTC)
- We should bring this up at WP:CA. As for the new image it is much better,,,, but many will still have a problem as there is an Official version - a copyrighted representation - would be like having a Canadian flag with the red strips to wide and/or a maple leaf that is not the normal format. -- Moxy (talk) 00:28, 7 April 2014 (UTC)

Your comments regarding GANs
"I think we have a bigger problem ..that is a GA reviewer that lacks knowledge of what a GA article is. He says hes done many!!" - that's not very nice is it? If you have a problem with my GAN reviewing, why don't you talk to me about it instead of people who this has nothing to do with? The Miley Cyrus article met the GA criteria at the end, at first it didn't because I put it on hold until all of my concerns had been attended to. I do this to all of my GA reviews, all but two have either passed up front or failed up front. The Tephrosia apollinea GAN was my own mistake, I'm no expert in plants so I didn't know content was an issue. I've explained all of this before. ☠ Jaguar ☠ 18:17, 11 May 2014 (UTC)
- I did we had this conversation - As I said I will look into this a bit more...as I have. There are concerns raised by a few editors over a few articles. My concern here is GA reviews passed without knowledge of what is expected from a GA article. -- Moxy (talk) 23:12, 11 May 2014 (UTC)

For helping me sort through the ANI policies regarding interspersed comments. I'm feeling like I'm getting trolled a lot and it's hard to tell sometimes who's helping me and who's baiting me. I meant to thank you for your comment but don't know how to do it, so this message is here instead! Neuraxis (talk) 20:43, 14 June 2014 (UTC)
- Neuraxis, when you assume bad faith, you see helpful comments and edits as baiting. That POV only gets you into trouble. That's why we have a policy which REQUIRES that you AGF. If you will try to be collaborative and cooperative, you'll save yourself lots of trouble. You should have left a comment like above on my talk page too, but of course you didn't. Instead I get this totally warlike declaration from you. If I obey such an unreasonable demand, then you force me to expose your uncollaborative spirit by replying to you on other pages! Really? Is that what you want?
- BTW, you do not own your talk page. There are limits to how much you can control it, and you can lose access to it if you prevent it from being used for its intended purpose, which includes communicating with you, advising you, and warning you. I have never baited or trolled you, so you can drop those accusations. -- Brangifer (talk) 21:13, 14 June 2014 (UTC)
- I never mentioned anybody, BR. You are making more attempts to smear my character, yet again (your uncooperative spirit, war-like....) There is a lot context that you're omitting, which is beyond this page. I am trying to steer clear of you. Please respect my wishes. Please do not poison the well. I do not want anything to do with you whatsoever. Stop following me around, I'm feeling hounded. This is my final warning. I do not wish this to escalate as I have warned you before . You have been blocked from mine . Please stop following me around, I am feeling stalked. I wanted to thank Moxy for the help instead you're trying to change the whole narrative. - Neuraxis - if you need help with anything just ask...I have been here a long time and can help with most problems. However when it comes to behaviour problems I am not an admin cant cant do anything. -- Moxy (talk) 21:42, 14 June 2014 (UTC)
- I don't know what to do anymore. I just wanted to thank you and it's all gone to shit. Neuraxis (talk) 21:44, 14 June 2014 (UTC)
- I do have a question, actually. There are a few editors making allegations against me having an agenda, trying to game the system, etc. These aren't supported by diffs so I feel these allegations aren't showing good faith. When I respond to these allegations they are spinning things around saying I'm not having good faith. I honestly feel some editors are misrepresenting me but no matter how many times I ask them to stop, they continue. I even asked them to read my bio page, and still allegations of having a hidden agenda. I'm not used to all these attacks and I want to respond but I'm getting wikilawyered to death. A user left this on my page and it seems this is being followed to a T. Any advice? Neuraxis (talk) 00:51, 15 June 2014 (UTC)
- @Neuraxis - Replying without looking into the bigger picture. You will find that there are many editors that are very good at diverting attention from the problems at hand (for example: Not replying to direct question while at the some time bring up procedural problems or as you put it gaming the system.) I have a few editors that I dont get along with aswell. I go out of my way to avoid them when possible and if I do interact with them I make sure its in a public forum (as in article tlak pages and noticeboards) this is so that others can always see whats going on. However if many editors have the same concerns about your edits I would suggest that you look at what is being said....or ask the appropriate Wikiproject talk page for others to get involved on article talk pages over user tlak pages (again so all can see). You could join the Misplaced Pages-en-help IRC chat room... Click here to be connected instantly with people that can look at the problem and advise you on what to do. Will reply more in a bit when I look at your situation. -- Moxy (talk) 01:56, 15 June 2014 (UTC)

Bering Sea Arbitration
Yo Moxy; I'm largely avoiding Misplaced Pages now, tired of being made a whipping-boy by the rulemongers and powertrippers; but noting your participation in recent edits at Bering Sea Arbitration, just wanting to tip you off as to how much is still missing from that article; like the Alaska boundary dispute and Oregon boundary dispute ones, which I've de-POVized/globalized some long ago, it's heavy on the USPOV and totally written from their perspective. If you read through the Scholefield & Howay citation I got the Corwin information from you'll see by how much the article is lacking any "BPOV" (British POV) or "BCPOV"; the key point of which is it was British Columbian sealing vessels that pioneered the industry in the first place; this is largely lost to Canadian history, but the Bering Sea Crisis nearly brought the US and UK to global war in the 1880s; only the Great Eastern Crisis kept Britain busy; that USian who tried to pretend the US had won the "conflict" needs keeping an eye on; and note that this is an article, like the Hay-Herbert Treaty (Alaska Boundary Tribunal's outcome, also an arbitration), about a diplomatic agreement, not about a conflict. As with Nootka Crisis vs Nootka Conventions, there maybe needs to be two articles.
Another kinda rank USPOV thing is in operation at New Albion; see my recent additions/replies on the talkpage there, which of course have been ignored as inconvenient, and the removal of the BC theory from the lede as supposedly "fringe". Even the title of that article is USian, and is only what it is because of the dismissal of the other theories by the people OWNing that article; I've been thinking about taking it to the fringe theories bb board but as you might gather I intensely dislike the know-nothing-but-want-to-have-my-say-to-fuck-this-up atmosphere/environment on discussion boards; the title should be Nova Albion, which was Drake's name, not that of the US Parks Service. Whatever; it's one of many articles where USPOV or sometimes UKPOV has bulldozed aside all dissenting opinion (and things like t he power stations category's imposition of British English worldwide...).
Misplaced Pages has eaten too much of my life; there's important material yet in need of doing, but writing thigns in "collaboration" with people who don't like reading and want to cite guidelines they don't even fully read is increasingly a waste of time, and the things that get said to me endlessly patronizing and insulting. Am I done? Maybe, certainly for major contributions, if I'm going to write it's not going to be hobbled b y people who vilify me for their own short attention spans/impatience and abysmal lack of knowledge of the topics they insist on kibbitzing over.Skookum1 (talk) 01:57, 18 June 2014 (UTC)
- Another strange USian based item is Anti-Oriental Riots (Vancouver), which I found as Vancouver Race Riots and until I added the Canadian cites and rewrote it a bit, was in "American language" and had only US accounts; Anti-Oriental Riots redirects at the moment to Asiatic Exclusion League, which isn't quite right either; sad that such an important item in BC/Canadian history went unwritten to the point where American essays as cites and American editors wrote it first; but it still has content/language problems and some details are wrong (the Japanese did hold their own); and the various Oregon and Alaska and the San Juan articles all similarly were started as USPOV and are not yet properly globalized; too much bullshit elsewhere has kept me from getting back to them....Skookum1 (talk) 05:39, 18 June 2014 (UTC)

—Anne Delong (talk) 04:02, 3 July 2014 (UTC)
- No problem I did think is was odd and most likely a mistake. Thank you for taking the time to explain - most would just move on ...great to see an editor with real world manners. :-)
A barnstar for you!

The Tireless Contributor Barnstar is awarded to especially tireless editors who contribute an especially large body of work without sacrificing quality.
The large body of work in this case is removing all the links to the toolbox. I've seen how many you've had to already, and I know I would have quit after only a small fraction of that number. John Carter (talk) 18:03, 3 July 2014 (UTC) |
