:::Hello MaxSem. I'm finding this all rather difficult! You have blocked User:basenine due to believing my intention was to advertise my business on wikipedia.

Here's an extract from an email I have sent through to User Daniel Case (do you guys know each other?)

"

Hello Daniel,

First up - sorry if I offended you. This is the trouble with emails - you don’t get to see each others expression. I can assure you that I am a bit of a jokester and a (generally speaking) fun loving person with a GSOH! I can be a bit sarcastic and a bit silly - but generally, it’s all for a bit of a laugh.

Sorry if I came across as abusive or as a smart arse. I can see how it would have (hence my reply apologising for my reference to “Say G’day to Liz for me”…to me, it was intended as a bit of light hearted humour…then, it crossed my mind that it could have been interpreted differently….)

I find myself now in the position of being unable to edit anything on my page and that I can’t change my Username. Why? Because I have been blocked as it was apparent to User:MaxSem, that I did not understand the meaning of Promoting my UserPage:Basenine. Again, if I was give an opportunity to delete the offending page, I would have, but I woke this morning to an email saying that I have a message.
Following the link to that message showed me this:

"Decline reason:

Your claim about nil promotional activity is contradicted by your addition of a text about your company to your userpage which I've deleted now. Max Semenik (talk) 18:44, 31 July 2014 (UTC)"

Now, I’m not sure if I’m dealing with a group of people here that just have a bone to pick.

You may claim that I was given an opportunity, but I didn’t realise that that page was considered a promoting page. It was my *interpretation* of what the page was as there was no clear advice upfront to say - DO NOT USE THIS PAGE FOR PROMOTING PURPOSE….DO NOT EVEN PUT YOUR COMPANY NAME HERE

Instead, I most probably was forced to read through pages of diatribe, before I got to that point.

To me, promoting my business would mean driving traffic to that page.

Not, as I thought the page was supposed to be, just a blurb of what basenine is. I don’t think there were any contact details on the page - I can’t remember as I did not go there often enough to see…Just on that, I don’t think any one had gone there often enough - if at all…it’s a bit of an obscure place to advertise and promote, don’t you think?.
I even edited a page (about sunscreen) and ended the edit with my personal name….no reference to basenine at all…. I don’t see Misplaced Pages as an advertising resource - only that I do notice that if I put “Sunscreen” into Google, one of the earliest results is the Misplaced Pages page on sunscreen. Then If I scroll down to the History of Sunscreen, I can see my reference has been updated and that someone has also included a reference that then leads to a company's website - could that not be considered promoting?

The rules and regulations on wikipedia are obscure. I navigate to my Userpage now and I get this:

"Misplaced Pages does not have a user page with this exact name. In general, this page should be created and edited by User:Basenine. If in doubt, please verify that "Basenine" exists.
Start the User:Basenine page
Search for "User:Basenine" in existing pages of namespace User.
Look for pages within Misplaced Pages that link to this title.

So, I would have just entered in a little bit about what basenine is - I honestly did not know that that was not allowable. I did that back a couple of years ago, and now, because I have had some banter from a person claiming to be a doctor from Canada, User Jmh649, I find myself with the inability to even change my username. It was fine for him to point out to me that copying and pasting were inappropriate but it seems that my response to his updated edit, which was referenced with such a confusing article - and one that was incorrect - has hurt his feelings. It seems coincidental that I was blocked after the History section of sunscreen was updated, quite professionally by Patrug - who seemed to agree with my response to the Canadian doctor.

So, to change my username, where do I go from here? It seems I might need it carefully spelled out as I haven’t fully understood the hoop jumping required thus far. Incase this is being taken as sarcasm, please be assured that it is not. And if you’re finding it a little confronting or abusive, please be assured that is not my demeanour nor my stance."

:::Can you please do one of two things for me: Either allow me to change my Username or....Would you be able to hide my page please (As I believe I read earlier that a user cannot be deleted)

ps - I emailed LilaTretikov directly. I'm not trying to use a scare tactic here! Just letting you know.
