Hi Sjö, I commented a question about the usage of these synonyns at https://en.wikipedia.org/Wikipedia:Reference_desk/Language#.22Laglig.22_vs_.22legal.22_in_Swedish, referring to the corresponding Norwegian synonyms, but a comment from a native Swedish speaker would be helpful. If you have the time, your comment would be appreciated. Hi thanks for editing my paste after some vandalism by 39.42.124.235. Incidentally over the last few days someone is persisting in trying to vandalise my page. Is there any way of finding out who the iso belongs to or where this is emanating from? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Merlinsage10 (talk • contribs) 17:54, 4 January 2014 (UTC)
- If you klick on the article's history you will see who made what edit. In the history, when you klick on an IP number or on "contribs" for a registered user you will get a record of their user contributions like this: Special:Contributions/39.42.124.235. If it's an IP number, then at the bottom of that page you will find a WHOIS link that will tell you the country and the Internet provider for that user, and you will find a Geolocate link that will tell you approximately where the editor is located (though it's prone to error). There is no way to connect a registered user to a specific IP or location, except for a very small group of users called checkusers, and then only in rare cases of users registering and using multiple accounts. Fairytale of New York
So, would you like to explain how a BBC reference plus a newspaper article is not deemed sufficient reference for an entry in the Cover versions of a song, unlike the thousands of other cover mentions in Wiki's pages that are totally un-referenced? Is this hypocrisy, more arbitrary editing, or just plain prejudice because you are a mate of TheOldJacobite. Explain yourself please and then I'll email your explanation to Jimmy W himself.109.148.147.177 (talk) 17:12, 10 January 2014 (UTC)

I understand your position on the content of this article, however being "right" in an edit war does not protect one from sanction. The other editor's actions do not fall under any of the exemptions found at WP:Edit warring. I'm requesting that you self-revert your last edit. I do appreciate your contribution to the encyclopedia and have no desire to sanction you for a good faith effort. I must be fair, however, and let you know that you must self-revert to avoid a block. Regards Tiderolls 15:43, 26 January 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you for that consideration. Please believe me when I say I know how you feel: I've been in the same position. Again, I do value your work and I hope that you understand my position. Regards Tiderolls 15:49, 26 January 2014 (UTC)
- I saw my edits as reversions of vandalism and as such allowed by WP:3RR, but I guess they weren't and I have self-reverted. No hard feelings at all. Sjö (talk) 15:50, 26 January 2014 (UTC)
- FYI, the person you are reverting is related to the subject (OTRS ticket:2014012610004697 applies, should you need to discuss this with admins other than me). Please do not reflexively revert edits of this kind, instead discuss the matter calmly witht he other person. I believe they have valid concerns, but they need to understand our policies on content inclusion; don't forget that WP:BLP applies, and by extension may apply to remarks made on talk pages. I look to you to work with this editor and understand their concerns, and either explain the problem calmly or hand it over to someone else. You can get some help at WP:BLPN if you need it. Over to you. Guy (Help!) 11:58, 27 January 2014 (UTC)

- Sure, no problem. When you made the edit, the category was redlinked, that's why I reverted it. When I saw your other edits I figured that you would fix any redlink that needed fixing. Sjö (talk) 21:00, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

Thank you for keeping an eye on W (2014 film)! I want to give the IP/movie people the whole good faith thing, but they're pretty obviously here to promote their film. I may try to get a temporary semi-protection to help deter the IP edits, but we'll still need someone to keep an eye on the page for edits by account holders. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 07:19, 15 February 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks! I'll keep an eye on it for the next few days. There seems to be a lot of tendentious editing in Bollywood and Kollywood articles, and the sometimes lack of English sources makes it hard to add neutral information. Sjö (talk) 07:24, 15 February 2014 (UTC)
Legal aspects of ritual slaughter
Why do you consider as undue weight the mention of the Swedish woman who filed for asylum in protest of the law? This was all over the media when it happened. Would a different source than the one cited (or more sources in addition to it) be better? --PiMaster3 00:23, 21 February 2014 (UTC)
- For one thing, it doesn't tell the reader anything about the status of religious slaughter in Sweden, which means that it doesn't contribute to the article. It might be suited for an article about the situation for Jews in Sweden. Also, it is one instance and AFAIK not representative of the intentions of Jewish persons in Sweden.
- I don't agree that it was "all over the news" when it happened. I don't recall seeing it, and my googling supports that. In Swedish I can find short mentions on some reputable news sites, a couple of extreme-right sites and the rest of the first Google pages are forums. In English, the news organisations that cover the story seem to be those that declare themselves as Jewish. In short, adding that story is recentism and gives undue weight to one event. Sjö (talk) 06:34, 21 February 2014 (UTC)
- It tells the reader about the impact that the law has had in Sweden. Also, why does the fact the most of the English language sources that discuss it are Jewish papers (although the source that I cited is not) make it any less of an important event, especially regarding an event that specifically impacts Jews? --PiMaster3 00:06, 23 February 2014 (UTC)
- As for your first argument, no it doesn't. It tells about the reaction from one person. My pointing out where the news were found is a reply to your assertion that it was all over the news. Since news coverage is one aspect of due weight I think that it is very relevant to point out that news coverage was limited. Sjö (talk) 08:19, 23 February 2014 (UTC)

Tunnel of Love express tour
Tunnel of Love express tour Radrenbahn Weisensee'
Hello I am not trying to start some argument I just had a good article regarding the Radrenbahn Weissensee Concert. Here is the link : http://thesciencebookstore.com/2009/05/crowds-series-expectations/ The article "Crowds Series: Berlin Expectations. Zeppelin 1909 vs. Springsteen 1988" and the text. Perhaps a similar sized crowd (some estimates putting the number at a million) showed up to listen to Bruce Springsteen perform in East Berlin in 1988. I have no idea what the East German government was thinking when they allowed him to perform. Listening to hundreds of thousands of people singing along to "Born in the USA" is monumental and very emotional–the video stays like that the whole way through, but the crowd really seems to find its voice at 2:52.
Everyone nows that there were a whole lot more people than 160 000 there. Read Erik Kirchbaums book "Rocking the wall" he states that there were between 300 000 to 500 000 people there based on various souces and interviews. They could not report that many people because the Eastgerman government had only allowed 160 000 people. But at lest the double entered and the organisers had to take away the gates so people would not hurt themseves while running into the ground without tickets.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Bajsalot (talk • contribs)
- Any unsourced edit you make where you change the numbers like you did will be reverted, and if you edit war instead of discussing you will be blocked. The place for discussion is on the article's talk page, not here. I stand by my messages to you. Sjö (talk) 21:47, 28 March 2014 (UTC)

APMEX
Good morning Sjö!
I was hoping you could take a look at the APMEX wikipedia page and help us out with the editing process. Every time we made a modification we explained the reason why but our modification have been undone. We are just trying to provide better and more accurate information about APMEX. Our human resource department in APMEX worked hard to put everything together so we could display the appropriate information here in wikipedia. Please let us know if we need to make any modifications and if you could remove the warning messages on the header of APMEX wikipedia page. sorry for the bother and thanks for the help PMSocial (talk) 13:12, 27 May 2014 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for July 7
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Misplaced Pages appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Friggebod, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Canopy. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Destruction of the Library of Alexandria
OK, so, this seemed like the right thread to hijack seeing I was a blocked vandal recently. I cant load the account making page so...ya. Here I am. I rewrote the alexandrian library page in 2 parts on a cricket comment 3 and you were all take it to talk. Well i brought it. The first paragraph, the hook, is just...I mean I have words for it but im trying to be internet polite here. You threw some words (edits?) in there. Bit confusing but it's so much better and i just rearranged the same stuff. FIx whatever seems biased (because i am) and put em together for me! As you can see i dont talk like i write and this was hours of browsing with the mobile version of netscape beta.
- You removed almost all of the well sourced text. Then you found your way here, but you pretend that you don't know how to find the article's talk page? Then when you come here you change another editor's comment. That makes you a vandal in my eyes. Just stop removing text from the article. Sjö (talk) 09:25, 18 July 2014 (UTC)
- OK, so, youre going to hate me now but this is the only way i can respond. Delete it afterwards if you dont want it on here. Let me start by saying ive literally been mostly focused on this since my first revision, this is barely an OS. Also you seem like a chill, fair person and i agree with your verdict completely. Wherever it cut me off down there (the lone [) is the limit on text which my device can fit in a box. So i did the best i could knowing someone would have to sort through it and hoping it'd be someone who could help me help others. You guys are the fabled library of alexandria. Its the dream realized free knowledge! Anyway sorry for any trouble ya'll. Love.

- Someone's religion and if they support LGBT rights isn't inappropriate in itself. But one can always discuss if something in the article is important enough to be mentioned. If you see something in an article that you think shouldn't be there you can remove it, but remember to write something about why in the edit summary. And if your edit is reverted, it's better to start a discussion on that article's talk page than to remove the text again. Here on Misplaced Pages you learn by doing, so just keep editing. Dear Sjö, I am contacting you regarding the lampshade page, of which I made a contribution to not long ago, of which you decided to delete. You messaged me letting me know, and led me to this page if I had any further inquiries. Hope all is well for you, and that there is a good explanation for all this confusion. Sincerely, Me.— Preceding unsigned comment added by LoveMindsEyes (talk • contribs)
