Welcome!

Hello, JhonsJoe, and welcome to Misplaced Pages! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as Steven Joel Sotloff, may not conform to some of Misplaced Pages's guidelines, and may not be retained.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{help me}} on this page, followed by your question, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Misplaced Pages:Questions or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Bazj (talk) 19:28, 20 August 2014 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Steven Joel Sotloff

The article Steven Joel Sotloff has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Misplaced Pages policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Bazj (talk) 19:28, 20 August 2014 (UTC)

Improper license

File:Steve Sotloff -ISIS.jpg is not properly licensed - for a file on Wikimedia Commons to be properly licensed, it must be A.) your own work; B.) in the public domain; or C.) released under a Creative Commons license. As it is, the file appears to be a copyright violation of the publisher, and will almost certainly be deleted within a week. Of course, if in that time you can provide details as to why the file is not a copyvio, it might be kept. G S Palmer (talkcontribs) 15:45, 21 August 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Wilfren Ocan Bunia

Hello JhonsJoe,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Wilfren Ocan Bunia for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.  SmileBlueJay97  talk  16:48, 21 August 2014 (UTC)

Your contributed article, 2014 manhunt for killer of James Foley

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, 2014 manhunt for killer of James Foley. First, thank you for your contribution; Misplaced Pages relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – James Foley (photojournalist). Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Misplaced Pages. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at James Foley (photojournalist) – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Misplaced Pages looks forward to your future contributions. TheLongTone (talk) 17:42, 21 August 2014 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for August 23

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Misplaced Pages appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

ISIS

With reference to your edit today, the United Nations has not designated ISIS as a terrorist organization. Please look at the many discussions on the Talk page about this. That designation list was drawn up after long and careful discussion on the Talk page and a consensus decision. You will be reverted unless you find some other place in the article for your edit. Note also that "U.N. is spelled "UN" in this article. --P123ct1 (talk) 20:06, 28 August 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Express198.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Misplaced Pages under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Misplaced Pages. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Misplaced Pages (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Diannaa (talk) 01:07, 4 September 2014 (UTC)

Haines

I am pretty new here. I started the Haines article, and it has already been deleted. It was not a speedy delete request, and there was no consensus reached. I thought requests took place over 7 days to have discussion. I don't understand the process.MeropeRiddle (talk) 03:32, 4 September 2014 (UTC)

New Zealand Terror Designation

Hi. Your source for this was a blog. Blogs are not considered reliable sources. You need a better source.

You would also need a source that establishes 'notability' for the NZ government's pronouncements, just as you would for Australia or Japan. zzz (talk) 08:29, 7 September 2014 (UTC)

I agree with you, though. Something should be added (probably in "assessment" section) about the issue of terrorist designation, eg. about US prevarications. Ps. thanks for adding "Opponents" to the info box. They had got lost at some point.zzz (talk) 09:35, 7 September 2014 (UTC)
