Winds of Creation is notable for the ages of the musicians; despite the technical nature of the music, drummer Vitek (born January 1984) was 15, bassist Rygiel (born April 1983) was 16, guitarist Vogg (born December 1981) was 17, and vocalist Sauron (born June 1981) was 18 at the time of recording.
After its release, Winds of Creation received mixed to positive reviews from music critics. Matthias Sheaks of Allmusic said " songwriting is extremely solid; even in the first listen, songs such as the manically frenzied "Blessed" and the beautifully haunting "Dance Macabre" stand out and away from the strange dissonance of "The First Damned" and the call-and-response riffage of "Nine Steps." With similar comment came up Chronicles of Chaos Paul Schwarz describing " Vogg's guitars and Vitek's drums have more than enough great hooky riffs, time changes, breaks and inspired solos between them to make up for the lack of involving vocals." While Greg Pratt from Exclaim! praised the production witch " sounds great and the songs themselves are all Florida/Poland-style death metal, but Decapitated are pushing the genre a bit with their technicality". Blisterings Shawn Wedel mentioned that "Despite this surgical precision, there is one setback: the lack of a unique identity emerging from the music."
