Your qustion: A long long time ago in a comment on the talk page of the Xanth series, you placed two links to pages that are redirects now. I was wondering if you would be offended if I removed the links (and left plain text). This is part of my effort to clean up stray links to redirect pages regarding the Xanth series. Please let me know on my talk page. Lady Aleena 21:21, 25 February 2006 (UTC) PS. I forgot to specify, the links were to Crunch and Dor. They are both handled elsewhere.

Doesn't bother me. RJFJR 13:14, 26 February 2006 (UTC)

Any chance seeing you seem to be very much envolved in completing some of these articles about the books of Piers Anthony. Most are just skeletons. :: Kevinalewis : /(Desk) 09:23, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

Hi, I have followed the life of these articles with interest and added what I can, when I can. However I must reguster my protest and the move of the character section into a template. The Novels standard article pattern has been developed to give a general style and guidelines for this type of article and it includes a perfectly good apporach for including a character section. This allows to list to vary and describe the characters relative to the novel in question. In addition I find the particular template format not helpful, and a little cumbersome.

Please let me suggest two things. Can the character template be for major characters and use a similar style to the novel series template. And then return the standard 'Character is "Novel title"' section for the more detailed listing. :: Kevinalewis : /(Desk) 10:27, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

thanks for your response, Ok let's run with the template idea for now and see where it gets us. I'm still not totally convinced but there we go. The yellow is not a problem, it is ok with me, being a nice-ish clean, primary colour. The new layout you gave is slightly better in my view too. However the "boxy" nature is still a problem, not made nicer by it's placing on the right. Perhaps we could flush it left and place it in the article where a "traditional" 'Characters in "Novel title"' section would normally go, even using that heading as an anchor for the template. If you can't visualise what I mean let me know and I will mock it up on one of the articles. :: Kevinalewis : /(Desk) 11:42, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
That is a lot, lot better. Still not sure about the total concept or whether we can do without the heading. Let's leave it for now and go with as is. What is needed now is more editorial content, templates are all very well but what most are after coming to these articles is textual information, reading matter on the content, significance and other aspects of the novels. I would encourage more of this type of content if you can manage it. Things like "==Major themes==" "==Allusions/references to other works==" "==Literary significance & criticism==" "==Awards and nominations==" are obvious headings that could and probably should be added and developed. :: Kevinalewis : /(Desk) 12:28, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
Only problem with that is there appears to be no one stepping up for the task, If you have read them, you appear to be the best qualified. At least put a short introduction, or summary to each one. :: Kevinalewis : /(Desk) 13:14, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

Xanth PseudoWikiProject

Hey there. Just wanted to give you a "hello" and say that if you're interested, I'm trying to get together a group to work on Xanth pages (potentially aiming towards a WikiProject). Drop by the talk page and let me know if you're interested! --Avery W. Krouse 06:03, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

You are doing a fantastic work on the Xanth pages. Once I get ahold of my books, I can start adding more myself. My Visual Guide to Xanth is calling, hehe. --Avery W. Krouse 18:52, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

Xanth and article headings

Thanks for your complement about the "headings" in the Xanth articles - however I can't truely take credit for them - they are just part of the standard Novel article headings for use on all Novel articles. Perhaps you would like to make use of the full set or at least an appropiate cutdown of them. You will find our article pattern here - Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Novels/ArticleTemplate. How you find that useful - it might actually prompt a few lines of thought for things to include in the article themselves. :: Kevinalewis : 17:50, 26 February 2006 (UTC)

Wold Newton Characters

Please place all of your Wold Newton questions and comments here...

Hi, thanks for the support with the article of List of Wold Newton Universe characters, however I think we should probably organise it a little more - I know that I have gotten confused already from the multitude of added characters which are from the Tarzan Alive book. Perhaps we can work on this together, I was thinking of having an actual family tree - only I'm not sure how to make one for Misplaced Pages to be honest. Anyway would like to know your own ideas, thanks. Piecraft 20:26, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

Great work Lady Aleena! I love the new layout - I'l be incorporating the key with the rest of the characters, as far as I can find within the sources provided etc... it's looking much more coherent. I'll check back again to begin assimilating the other characters within your key system tomorrow. Good job all round :) Piecraft 11:15, 25 April 2006 (UTC)
Yeah I'm adding information here and there - checking out with sources, mostly using he pjf site Wold Newton Chronicles as well as some other linked sourced sites. I'll be color coding them soon - but just adapt them if you think some are incorrect, I'm only applying them as to what I can tell corresponds with the legend. It seems to be coming together though. Piecraft 14:17, 27 April 2006 (UTC)
That's cool, I've been trying to link the names to any articles as well as add on details to particular family members i.e. The FRankensteins and other descendants of other families etc... this is an arduous task but it'll be cool to have a decent list of the major players from the Wold Newton Family. I'm also attempting to figure out how all the other characters key into the different families, there's quite a few that are probably unrealted but still prevalent in the universe. Piecraft 17:01, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
Hi Aleena, just popping in to say great job of sorting out the FRankenstein family tree I was having conflicted info from different sources. I found this btw: http://www.pjfarmer.com/secret/graphictrees/frankensteinfamily.gif it seems to have different names for Praetorius and Hermes Frankenstein, then the ones you placed, I'll go by your additions, I only used the chart to correct a few minor mistakes in conjunction with Mary Shelley's book. I also added the other Ghostbusters to the family. Piecraft 22:31, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
Hey Aleena, I just linked the following Pokémon characters to their articles: Sabrina Dominique Valerie Bowman, Ash Satoshi Ketchum, Gary Oak, Samuel Oak, Giovanni Rocketti, and Misty Kasumi Elizabeth Williams.I must say, though....Whoever decided Sabrina, Giovanni, and Misty's surnames decidedly has a quirky sense of humour...And about the Japanese middle names...The less said the better. Anyways, if you need any more help with the Pokémon characters, feel free to contact me on my Talk Page. The Raven's Apprentice
Hey there, sorry I wasn't responding, have been away without a connection for four days. But I have returned and will gladly continue to help out. Just hit me back if you need anything else. I checked out your "Wold Newton characters to add" but Im guessing you already implemented them into the list. As a side note, should we not make a reference in the B section for Bride of Frankenstein for Elizabeth? I know she's already listed under her husband Henry Frankenstein, but the character of Bride of Frankenstein is a strong placeholder in the fictional world. Just an idea. I never knew the POkémon characetrs were affiliated, that's rather funny. I do however know that there is a great amount of links with Japanese anime characters that were later involved in the Wold Newton universe i.e.future estranged descendants and cross-overs as well as ancestors, so it's probably not unfamiliar territory there seing the likes of Speed Racer etc... I'll look into that area seeing as it's practically unbearable to keep up with. The only characters as of yet to be unlisted are the ones referred to on the page i.e. Harry Potter, Tolkien's world and the majority of Marvel characters (however there is a lot of debate over the Marvel characters). It's looking great and I can't thank you enough for your hard work and effort. I'll try to do as much as I can to improve the list, but as it stands it's already looking more than decent! P.S. good job with keeping the category, if it wasn't for your patience I doubt it would have remained! Piecraft 13:24, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
As far as I know it has been stated that several "universes" do not fit into the actual accepted universe of Wold Newton which integrates with the DC comics universe thanks to Alan Moore. Thus Marvel only corresponds to the universe due to the cross-over connections or with the exception of Steven Rogers and Peter Parker whose worlds do not clash with the DC Universe chronology. As for Star Wars it is speculated that it could be linked to the Wold Newton Universe, only Star Wars takes place in an entirely different future-past element, basically a universe that predates that of the Earth. And Tolkien's universe is also out of context due to the complex mythology that has no links outside of its realm, the same applies to Dungeons & Dragons, World of Warcraft and Warhammer. However the world of faeries is related thanks to King Arthur and Shakespeare as well as C.S. Lewis and Hans Christian Anderson/Brothers Grimm. Harry Potter's world also doesn't tie in to the Wold Newton as far as I have seen. And as for Looney Tunes and Disney the only way they might tie-in is through WHo Framed Roger Rabbit which has as of yet to be linked. Of course this is still a lot of debate as to what fits in and what doesn't, the only reason I added the list was to inform the reader as to why the characters from those "universes" or "worlds" were not present. Perhaps it could be stated that although they are not "accepted" within the universe it is yet to be seen whether or not they are truly acknowledged as being apart from it as a whole. Piecraft 04:50, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

I've been adding more in regards to the West/Silver/Henry family tree - though a lot of it is still sketchy so I only managed to put together the members of which are notable. Also added a few to the Knights, the Blakes and the Browns along with the Cranes. I also compiled togather members for the Firefly and Sawyer family trees. There is a link between the two families but as of yet it is unknown. Will continue to add as I can, hope all is well with you! Piecraft 13:03, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

Hey Lady Aleena, at the moment I'm adding characters which have been mentioned in the PJF site of Wold Newton. Also I basically am connecting them to other members through what has been mentioned in other articles. I will devote my time to referencing if you give me some time - however I\m still searching for further evidence that these individuals are connected, I only listed them as being "related" for now but this could change seeing as the list is dynamic and also nothing is certain until I've found a factual source. But thanks for the heads up and I'll be sure to either delete accordingly if not related. Piecraft 10:56, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
As per your P.S. I just listed it as I had read from the site but it's still vague I'll let you deal with it. Sorry for any complications, I'm just trying to add and link up the fictional characters that are present in the universe. I'm still trying to find related links between them though, some are self-exlplanatory. However there are not many family trees available but they are still mentioned. Piecraft 10:59, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
I read the Wol Wold West article, that's where I got most of the info relating to the character on it from. But it's very difficult seeing as most of the members of the family are unknown or have no names listed. BTW good work on sorting out the Munster mess. Piecraft 22:29, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
Hahaha check it out I found a family tree linking Tarzan with D'Artagnan, this looks like it's gonna get huuuuge: French Wold Newton Family Tree, the french Wold Newton is a whole different ball game that is even more complex, and there's also the Spanish/Italian and German side of the families too - this is a mega task but it's fun to see how everything links up. Piecraft 01:07, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

Be prepared for malevolent editors/users who want to delete the list, I have a feeling we haven't heard the last of EurekaLott and others who seemingly have no idea or care to find out about this literary phenomenon and believe this to be entirely fancruft. Piecraft 02:06, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

BTW this article: in Wold Newton backs up the reason why the Marvel universe is not fully integrated within the Newtonverse. Piecraft 14:18, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
Okay you have a point, what about we just state instead of "what doesn't belong" a list of characters from different universes that "as of yet" are not present or traced into the Newtonverse, I'll ammedn the paragraph/list? Piecraft 14:29, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

Phew I just added the families of Talbot / Glendon / Griffin / Russell / Blasko which adds up the invisible men and werewolves, you can look through it I got all of it from the who's who in Wold Newton and cross-referenced it with other articles seeing as the Who's Who in Wold Newton Universe is rather vague and tends not to have spelling inaccuracies for certain names. Anyway I'll try to put more work into making them more coherent. Piecraft 00:17, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

It looks like the category for Wold Newton Family members is going to meet the hatchet. I fear that the main reason for it's deletion is due to me, as I have noticed the majority of users/editors who voted deleted have a personal vendetta against me from previous VfDs and other articles I have strived to work on and keep on Misplaced Pages and they have attempted to delete. Therefore it is no surprise that they are continuously harrasing any article of which I am part of or contributing to. I won't mention names but just now I checked the listing again and noticed that at least more than 5 users voting on the category for it to be deleted are the same individuals who have attacked my work in the past. Perhaps with the deletion of this category we could place a link through a See Also and Popular Reference section on each of the main character pages? Sorry I couldn't do more... Piecraft 13:05, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
Don't worry about it, I'm just adding characters or subtracting them as well as connecting them from what I can find on the PJF Secret Wold Newton site - I'm not really going too hardcore that's why my edits to the list are just sporadic at times. However there's no need to overwhelm yourself with Wold Newton, basically I'll keep at it when I can. Just come back to it when you feel ready and thanks for everything you've contributed. A question

Why did you change Corazón salvaje (1956 film) from Category:Films based on novels to Category:Films based on fiction books? Isn't ...novels a child category of the ...fiction books category?--Vizcarra 07:21, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

Same question, as to Gods and Generals. Regards, Accurizer 00:06, 10 February 2006 (UTC)

Answer: Films based on fiction books vs. Films based on novels

(This has been answered on both of the user pages, but since it has been asked twice, it will have a general answer here.)

Category:Films based on novels is in the process of being cleaned out. Category:Films based on fiction books is taking its place along with the sub-categories that have been newly created. Please see Films based on books project. Lady Aleena 00:12, 10 February 2006 (UTC)

Heads up on the category naming issue

Greetings - I want to let you know that I've submitted the sub-cat Films based on Jane Austen's books for renaming. Before we go any further, I feel strongly that we need an admin's advice on this (and I hope more than one); no matter what our opinions are, I want all this work to be in line with policy (as far as possible!). I hope this does not put a damper on our working relationship. Cheers, Her Pegship 01:54, 22 February 2006 (UTC)

New project over at Films based on books

Greetings, my lady! I put together a list of stub articles that need to be split into separate book and film articles and posted it at Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Films/Films based on books/Splits. Feel free to take a crack at it. Her Pegship 13:25, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

Template

Hello. Try not to be too dishearted about that template. Take more notice of the more polite, constructive comments. It's incredibly frustrating when the work you do for the good of the project seems to be unappreciated. I've felt similarly pissed off in the past when my efforts have gone unrewarded. In fact, I've realised that unless you happen to be a member of particular IRC groups, your efforts will largely be unrewarded. Try to make the project work for you, and enjoy it. Thanks!

Hey Lady Aleena: Thanks for lwetting me know about the Poltergeist link. I will correct it ASAP.

I remember going to see Stargate, the movie. What year was it made? 1995? I remember wondering the entire movie whether the bad guy was actually a man or a woman..lol. I don't mean to poke fun at the movie, through, I respect any work that generated so many fans worldwide.

Anyways, good job about keeping the Stargate articles well done, it's a good idea.

Thanks and God bless you! Sincerely yours, Antonio Closing the gate(wink) Martin

Hello. Thanks for not making a big deal of it. Of course it would have been better to message you but I edited at least 20 such pages and to wait for replies etc. would have taken a long time, this way its done and I can move on to other things. Thanks again, Mark83 19:01, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

Your recat of Category:Wikipedians who are pilots

I'm in that category because I am a PRIVATE pilot. However, this is not my profession, I am a software engineer if you ask about that one. I agree that "...by stuff" is a bit vague, but what you suggest instead is plain wrong in this case. Please consider something better or revert. TIA, --BACbKA 08:51, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

I moved it into a subcat of "...interested in aviation" and removed the "...profession" affiliation (the "by profession" cat stays that the wikipedians have indicated their profession by including themselves, and, as I have just said earlier, it's wrong at least in my case). --BACbKA 09:25, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

RE: The Sentinel (TV series), I need some help

Hey, sorry for the late reply. It seems you had good intentions in your edit but it seems you made the bullet points using raw HTML, with <ul>s, <li>s and all. The use of raw HTML to format text is generally discouraged on Misplaced Pages, favouring formatting with wiki-syntax. For example, in the source, the wiki syntax for bullet points looks like this:

* This is a point
* This is another point.

which comes out as:

  • This is a point
  • This is another point.

For ordered, or numbered lists, you use hashes:

# This is point number 1
# This is the second point

which comes out as:

  1. This is point number 1
  2. This is the second point

And finally, if you want to indent numbering into bullet points (like you did in your edit), you do this:

* Numbered heading as a bullet point
:# Numbered point under heading
:# Second numbered point under heading

which comes out as:

  • Numbered heading as a bullet point
  1. Numbered point under heading
  2. Second numbered point under heading

There. So make your edit again, but use wiki syntax to format the lists instead of HTML this time. By the way, I don't think that user should have reverted the edit, rather, he should have fixed it himself. -- Daverocks (talk) 05:17, 12 February 2006 (UTC)

Personally, I prefer using HTML and CSS too. I also understand that it would have been impossible to lay out the lists like you did side-by-side in wiki code. If CSS is necessary to design certain things in articles, then I think it can be used, but probably should be avoided if possible. For example, if you take a look at the source of the Main Page, it looks like they've used divs and CSS to format certain things. Try negotiating with User:Andromeda, but at the same time, keep cool and try not to get into a bitter dispute. -- Daverocks (talk) 07:38, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, I saw he reverted your earlier changes as well. I mean, you're bound to get into edit disputes. It's really annoying how some people feel they "own" a page (particularly one they work on a lot) and go crazy when someone else touches it. I'm not referring specifically to The Sentinel but you get the idea. It's difficult to allow and accept other people's changes when you work on those types of pages, but I'm sure you'll be able to work something out. It's a good idea to try to make a compromise on layout with him, and I don't think you should start using that layout in other articles if it's already causing problems now. -- Daverocks (talk) 11:08, 12 February 2006 (UTC)

Adjacent columns with wiki templates

Hey again, I thought you might be interested in a section of an article which uses wiki templates to format side-by-side columns, $100 laptop#External links. A part of the source looks like this:

{{col-begin}}
{{col-2}}
*
*
* - MIT press release
*
{{col-2}}
===Audio/video===
*, ], ] (], 55:23)
*
* - Web video of the first laptop prototype, by
* (MP3), ], ], ]
{{col-end}}

And so it seems that it is possible to format columns this way, using templates like Col-begin, Col-2, and Col-end. However, it's not much different, as the templates themselves are CSS. Just thought I'd let you know. -- Daverocks (talk) 08:58, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

The Sentinel (TV series) Style disagreement

Hello Lady Aleena, I'm very sorry I forget to send you a reply until now... So, I've taken a look at your edit on The Sentinel (TV series) and I think the content you wanted to add (episode lists) is useful to expand the article and should have not been reverted. What was probably wrong with your edit is the use of html style tags: however I see from the above messages by User:Daverocks that you should be able to format the text using wiki-code the same way you did with html, so this should solve the problem.

Also try to find out why User:Andromeda did a whole revert of your edit? Was it just because of html usage or did Andromeda think the content was not suitable for the article? Berserker79 15:15, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

I see you added a comment to Misplaced Pages:Village pump (miscellaneous) (which I've answered) to which you appended the comment "(sig buggy)". I think you might be interested on Misplaced Pages:How to fix your signature.

Tagging for clean-up

Hello there...I noticed that you tagged all of the character articles for Xanth for clean-up. I removed them and added a line about the basis for the list articles to those pages. I realize that they need a lot more work, but right now they are the foundation of what is being built. Please check back in a week to see our progress. If you still think they need work, tag them again. :) Lady Aleena (sig buggy)

  • The {{context}} tag is not as clear as it could be. All I was asking was that the words characters of the Xanth series by Piers Anthony should appear in the first paragraph. You have done that so I am now happy and have no further complaints about the articles. -- RHaworth 00:26, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

Wikifying

This is in regards to your article The Bionic series; per your request on your User Page, could you please explain why you don't want to use wikipedia code? It's just going to end up being wikified by me or someone else. Pages need to conform and as it stands now, the coding is a mess. Also, I suggest you review Misplaced Pages etiquette and revise your Userpage note -- please remember no one "owns" the articles on these pages. At any time they can be rewritten, reverted, and completely changed by anyone. (Please respond on my talk page). 23skidoo 17:08, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

You can't go around modifying Misplaced Pages rules to meet your comfort level. It just makes it a real pain for the rest of us. If you want to create your own HTML wiki site, you're certainly free to do so. In the meantime, I will be wikifying the Bionic article (and any others I stumble across with HTML) as this is the way things are here. If you have an issue with the use of Misplaced Pages coding, I suggest taking it up with Jimbo Wales or the Village Pump. 23skidoo 19:48, 25 February 2006 (UTC)
The introduction needs to be expanded and there is material here that can be deleted since it's already included in other articles, otherwise it looks exactly the same. I do believe, however, that it is against Misplaced Pages format (better check the Style Guide) to have two images side-by-side like that. I'll have to investigate further. As it stands, it looks awkward because of the TOC. 23skidoo 20:06, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

If wikicoding is causing your dial-up to slow down (though I'm still surprised anyone is still on dialup -- that's not a dig against you, as I keep seeing this even though broadband and cable is often less expensive, but a lot of places still don't have it), I suggest making comments to this effect in the Bug reports section of Misplaced Pages or Community Portal. Maybe if enough people comment about this there might be some improvements made, though the Internet as a whole is not slowing down for dial-up or modem users to catch up -- I'm on a cable modem and I'm finding it to be too slow for a lot of pages now. As far as setting up your own Wiki, I've heard of people being able to do it free of charge but I have no idea how to set it up. The coding is available from here, but unless you're able to find a Geocities or Lycos willing to give you a large amount of free space I agree I'm not sure how it would work. I was just foolin' with you on that. Personally, I also work with HTML to a limited extent and I find Misplaced Pages's version to be far simpler and more efficient, especially when it comes to linking to other articles. But it's only intended as an internal coding, not something to go elsewhere. 23skidoo 20:29, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

I only know a little HTML, and the Wikicoding is there for a reason, so I wouldn't support an HTML movement. IMO it works better than HTML and if there's a speed issue, that's something that needs to be rectified at another level. I do like your IM idea, however, although Talk Pages allow archiving of messages, which IM does not. Also, since people around the world use Misplaced Pages, IM might not be practical (I tried to set up IM with members of a couple of Yahoo Groups but dropped the idea because it's hard to do it when you're in Canada and you're trying to IM someone in India. 23skidoo 17:19, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

Please anihilate AWM's old category

Aleena: AWM, as Fplay, created Category:Wikipedians by stuff as a slop bucket to contain unstructured userbox proliferation and minimize the size of Special:Uncategorizedcategories. It has continued to exist beyond its useful life. Please recat the two remaining straggler cats and mark it for deleteion. AWM -- 70.231.175.26 20:04, 28 February 2006 (UTC)

User page categories

Yes, see Misplaced Pages:Categories for deletion/Log/2006 February 28#User categories. I went through and changed everybody's userpage (and the userbox templates that populate them) to the new categories to avoid leaving red links on all the userpages. Also I added sort keys so that people get sorted under their actual name, rather than under "U" for "User". — Mar. 9, '06 <freakofnurxture|talk>

Greetings Film Club person

Took a look at your profile... and noticed that you enjoy fantasy amoung other films.

There is a peer review for V for Vendetta (film) underway right now, would you like to join in as a reviewer? (No pressure).--P-Chan 08:34, 3 April 2006 (UTC)

My lady!

Welcome back. Your baby?? I understand that completely. (I have 2 toddlers.) I've been wondering what you were up to. Eagle101 has been kind enough to work on a few lists with me, and if you ever want to pitch in feel free. I'm a bit aimless at the moment, kind of like one of those automatic vacuums that glides around the floor on its own, randomly picking up lint... Cheers! Her Pegship 04:03, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

Ah, that kind of baby. =) I hope your stress wasn't due (entirely) to my own actions. I will happily back off a bit if it means you feel like coming back to the project... Her Pegship 04:15, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

Magazine images

Hiya. There has been a big thing recently about magazine covers and fair use. Fair use only applies if the actual product itself is being discussed. The product was a TV guide -- not V. If the article discussed the TV Guide's treatment of V (if it were sufficiently notable), then that would be fair use. Hope this makes sense. If not, I can point yoi in the direction of relevant discussions. It is controversial, with imagephiliacs (?) claiming admins are being heavy-handed, etc. The JPS 16:54, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

Tristam

Hi. Yeah that's me. The template I created has a "Computer and video game template" category attached to it, which I think is a good category for it. However, that category carries through to all pages I place the template on as a category in each of those pages. I was wondering how I could keep it in the template itself but remove it from the individual pages (the category is not listed in the code on those pages, so I don't know how to remove it). Thanks! --Tristam 06:37, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

The template in question is Template:Chocobo series, while the page in question is Chocobo Racing. However, I haven't saved my edits to the Chocobo Racing page (it isn't completed), and so it won't show up there yet.

Ah, absolutely perfect. Thank you!

Many thanks

I didn't notice the List of zombie films link had changed, thanks for updating the links on my userpage. R.E. Freak 05:49, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

My dear

I feel your pain over the renaming thing. I'm in there, and I have posted the links on the Wikiproject Films talk page. Please take a little break, have a cup of tea, don't stress so much. You are not alone. Cheers, Her Pegship 17:33, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

You've got my support too. It's a dirty job, but needed doing. Oh, and Her Pegship, while you've got the kettle on... milk and one sugar. The JPS 18:57, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
I don't mind being "mother". <g> Her Pegship 00:11, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

Screenshots category

Howdy - Just a heads up that I commented on the CfR for Category:Screenshots of movies and television; since there's already a separate Category:Screenshots of television, I suggest we rename the former category to Category:Screenshots of films and sort accordingly. Any thoughts? Her Pegship 00:29, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

Category:Disaster movies to Category:Disaster films

I count the vote as 64% in favor with 7 for, 4 opposed. Yes, that is close. My suggestion is to wait a day or so and renominate. In the nomination address the points that led to the oppose votes as best as you can. The issues seems to be that these are commonly know as disaster movies and there does not appear to be any policy to change the appearance of film in a category to movie. Mention that this was a no consensus vote and that you would like to see if consensus can be reached. As to the participants, there is a crowd that normally hangs out in CfD. They try to keep a standard across the entire name space. Vegaswikian 05:32, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

Broken category

Oops! Very sorry about that. Just an impulse when I see categories with red links. --Liface 15:22, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

Template:BravoFunny

Those line breaks are inside a <noinclude>, though, so they shouldn't come up when transcluding the template. --Rory096 18:44, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

TfD nomination of Template:BravoFunny

Template:BravoFunny has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the template's entry on the Templates for Deletion page. Thank you. --Mysekurity 05:08, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

Wold Newton stuff

I'd be happy to support you adding stuff to "cultural references" sections in other articles. That sort of thing is fine if done the right way. Show me where you met resistance before and I'll come and support you there. I'll leave my category vote the way it is. I suggest you preserve a list of the articles in the category in case it does get deleted, but I'll be more than happy to help you add the information to Misplaced Pages in a more distributed way. Also, the current list for the Wold Newton universe is a bit long. Having separate lists for the colour-coded bits would be good. Carcharoth 09:05, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

I've saved the information of the Wold Newton family members category in the List of Wold Newton Universe characters Talk page. At least we don't need to lose the listing completely. I'll also help you out on adding a link reference to the character pages as an "original family member" mentioned by PJF, that is if the category is deleted. Piecraft 13:17, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for the reply, I think perhaps if all esle fails we could put a concise listing of those exact characters that were once in the category for Wold Newton family members and list them accordingly also in Wold Newton family. What do you think? I mean after all they ARE the Wold Newton family members of PJF and that article relates to the official characters n'est pas? Piecraft 14:42, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
Hey there! I came up with a great idea to tie in the category so as we can preserve the official listing of everything within the categroy I have recently made a template would like you rviews and harsh critique on it, basically feel free to modify or change etc.. I just planted everything in there so it may be a bit of a mess check it out here --> WoldNewtonTopics Template, cheers! Piecraft 23:12, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
Looks like the category was closed for deletion. Oh well, at least we know that the two admins were in agreement with us, onyl they had to as usual offer the innocent babe up to the rabid wolves - consensus by majority is pathetic and is what brings down this online encyclopedia, what they should do is have porper debates as to whether articles should be kept or not, instead of a tirade of ignorant "delete" because it's fancruft or whatnot without any of the editors knowing what they're truly voting on. Get back to me when you, I know you're real busy. Piecraft 14:55, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
There's a lot of politics involved with Misplaced Pages, and I assume you have as many people who have "something" against you as they do with me, as I stated before in a previous message most of the people voting on there were editors who had previously voted against other articles I had written and organised for Misplaced Pages relating to science-fiction and literary topics. They will attempt at every turn to bring an article down which I have authored, especially if it is related to a topic which they are unfamiliar with. But I'm not letting them drag this topic down into obscuirty just because they are ignorant to the fact that it is notable and has a large fan base. Also we can't allow these nasty editors bring us down. Regardless they have nothing better to do than attack anything that doesn't correspond to their overbearing rule-book of what they think Misplaced Pages is. Anyhow I modified the templates a bit and separated them into three different temps to make things a little easier. Piecraft 15:19, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

Go for it!

Go ahead and create the film series article. I'll back you up. Cheers, Her Pegship 15:24, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

Friday the 13th TV series

Yes, I am aware of the connection, and I also understand it to be an unconfirmed rumour. The idea that it is tied to Jason's hockey mask gives way to the suspicion as any fan of the film series will tell you that the hockey mask didn't appear until the last third of Part 3. Additionally, by the time the TV series was cancelled, Jason was up to at least his third mask as of 1989's Jason Takes Manhattan. --Bacteria 02:59, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

Shrieker

I did do an entry for David DeCoteau's movie called Shrieker. How can it be recovered? And what does one do when two movies (or books or TV shows or whatever) have the same name? Some additional wordage, I'd guess.

Btw, nice choices of topics you primarily Wiki. Been a Xanth fan since the first book, for one.  :)

Film/Movie Controversy

I am responding to your comment on my talk page. In general, I feel that if the word movie is used in a common, well-known phrase then that usage should override any Misplaced Pages convention, because I don't believe ordinary users should have to learn a convention to be able to use Misplaced Pages.

That said, I used Google to see which version of Disaster Movie or Disaster Film was being used most often and I found a lot of cases in newspapers where both versions are used interchangebly within the same article. Maybe that search was biased because I searched for both terms and thus was only shown pages where both were used. However, that and my own personal sense that Disaster Film is perfectly understandable, is enough for me to withdraw my opposition.

Also, I believe you mentioned earlier that redirects could be used to redirect users from the phrase that uses 'movie' to the phrase that uses 'film'. That works great for articles, but category redirects don't work in the sense that they don't automatically redirect. Instead the user is presented with the redirect page and has to manually click the link to get to the correct page. So for categories, redirects are only used when the community feels that it is necessary to block the category page with that name from being recreated (which would probably be needed in this case). --JeffW 18:35, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

Riftwar

Hiya, you left a message on my talk page about helping with the Riftwar saga. I'll be delighted to help - I've not really done much editing on Misplaced Pages for a while, and its been a few months since I finished the saga (I haven't read any of the other books to do with Midkemia), but anything that I can do to help, I will. Movie vs the Proper Film naming convention

Hey Lady! :)

Yikes you're right! Thanks for bringing this to our attention now. I have a feeling that once a few categories slip into the "Movie" category, the problem will only get worse, as it will set a precendent for people to imitate. We could certainly go in and grind out these problems manually. But do you have any suggestions as to how to change these categories swiftly with a minimum of disruption and add preventative measures? Thanks again, for bringing this up. --P-Chan 02:40, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

I just noticed the category for deletion tag. Once it's deleated will there be a bot or something that will magically move all of the film entries from the "Disaster Movies" category to the "Disaster film" category?--P-Chan 02:47, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

A heads up on the film series lists

User:The Tramp has been tinkering with the List of film series article, on which I know you have worked long and hard ... Are you in the process of splitting it up into separate articles for various groups? (hexologies, octologies, etc.)? I was slightly alarmed when I saw this person messing around, but want to AGF and just let you know. Meanwhile, Films based on books is always looking for a hand if you want a change. Cheers! Family tree

I'd never seen the familytree template before, and the only other pedigree I can recall working on is House of Eorl, but sure--what do you have in mind? ("larger" than Template:Blackfamilytree? gulp) —wwoods 00:10, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

RfA thanks

Thank you very much for your support for my recent RfA, which I'm quite happy to announce has passed with a consensus of 67 supporting, 0 opposed and 0 neutral. I'm glad I meet your criteria. Most of all, I'm glad you took the time to evaluate my candidacy, as I believe that's what keeps RfA running smoothly, and I'll be working hard to justify the vote of confidence you've placed in me. Please let me know at my talk page if I can assist you with any admin-related tasks, or just if you have any comments on my performance as an admin. Thanks! TheProject 02:33, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

Dear Aleena

This Barnstar is presented to

Lady Aleena
for the buckets of sweat and blood she
spills in a shadowy corner every day -
I do notice! :)
Phaedriel

Dear Aleena, I've just noticed the great effort you're making to organize the tons of user templates - awesome work, congratulations! I couldn't help but to notice something tho, and since I am not sure whether you intended to make it that way or not, I thought I might ask. You created Category:Musican fan user templates, and you are currently updating all Musician fan templates there - note the missing i in Musician. If this is simply a typing mistake, I can gladly help you correct it at all the templates that go within it, otherwise... just ignore what I said :) Big hugs, Phædriel tell me - 22:44, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

It'll be my pleasure, dear - please, go on with other stuff and leave that Category to me. I have to finish some stub sorting and a few more thing I was doing right now, but I'll dedicate all my Wiki-time tomorrow to that, sounds ok? Btw, your great effort is much appreciated, hun - don't diminish yourself! Big hugs, Phædriel tell me - 23:03, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
I'll do it myself, dear Aleena - don't worry ;) I just got home, so I've been unable to give a hand today, but I'll get to it immediately, and if I run out of time, I'll continue tomorrow, I swear. Hugs! :) Phædriel tell me - 21:36, 4 July 2006 (UTC) This will be a daunting task, as you said, dear... but I'm game ;) I've been having a look and it'll take detectivesque work, so I'll see what I can do between today and tomorrow, it's a promise - Phae
No, I had not figured it out yet, hun (tho it was just a matter of time - yeah, as if! ;) That will certainly help me detect them easier, thanx dear! I've already fished a couple, and with your advice, we'll put them all in a basket pretty soon. One thing for sure is, I don't wanna see another userbox for the rest of life! Aaargh! - Phae

Hi. I've just seen all the work you have been doing categorizing userboxes. Thanks for doing the hard yards! You certainly deserve that barnstar. Blarneytherinosaur 05:44, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

Template:User blogat - thanks

Thanks for catching my mistake on the blogat userbox. I had copied and pasted the Usage section from another userbox, but forgot to change the category sort. Good catch! —GrantNeufeld 22:45, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
